Actually you're "overweight", not obese. i wish people would stop trying to trick others.BMI is ridiculous. I'm 5'10 195lbs but am 10% body fat. According to BMI I'm obese and borderline morbidly obese. Please.

People having access to an abundant supply of affordable food is a good thing. People having the increasing ability to choose careers that don't involve heavy labor is a good thing. The standard of living for people in "fat" countries is a hell of a lot better than it is in India and other nations that boast near-zero obesity rates.
They're also a lot healthier, and dont have to worry about as many heart attacks.People having access to an abundant supply of affordable food is a good thing. Given that the life expectancy in the US is 78.8 and India is 64.1 this is clearly not the case.

This because of better infrastructure go to any hospital and see how many fat people are clogging it up. Plus in the US people can survive a heart attack or two in non developed countries they are most likely dead. They're also a lot healthier, and dont have to worry about as many heart attacks.[QUOTE="Nibroc420"][QUOTE="Oleg_Huzwog"]

Given that there's a higher life expectancy for citizens of Canada, Australia, and the UK... It's safe to say that the USA's obesity problem is affecting it's health.[QUOTE="drufeous"]Actually you're "overweight", not obese. i wish people would stop trying to trick others.BMI does not work for outliers like athletes it is just a general measurement, you still a full checkup from you doctors to tell you if you are healthy or not.BMI is ridiculous. not 100%, but yes...I blame the parents a lot for it. I'd argue most overweight adults started as healthy babies and became overweight infants and kids.

Portion control, healthier foods, and exercise. Problem solved.
And I feel little sympathy for the obese. If your over weight I can understand. Busy life, you may have a slower then normal metabolism, or thyroid issue can all lead to this. Its not easy to always make time to exercise. But if you obese, it didn't just sneak up on you. You made the deliberate choices that lead to your condition.
I don't see why people care. If other people want to be fat, let them. MistressMinakoCosts everyone else money. Fat people have more health problems, which are paid for by our taxes. Fatter people = more tax. More tax = higher cost of living. Do you want to spend more money on everything so that someone can be 40-50lbs overweight?

Do you want to spend more money on everything so that someone can be 40-50lbs overweight? Yes, but fat people may also solve our energy crisis. Fat contains a high amount of energy per volume weight. Simply design engines that can work on combusting fat people and our reliance on foreign energy sources will be drastically resolved.

They're unattractive, and they go out into public from time to time.
That's subjective, though they do tend to be more responsible for cracks in sidewalk pavement. In all seriousness, I don't care if people want to be more gravitationally attractive than others. I am overweight by a few pounds according to the BMI but that's mostly due to the amount of weight lifting I've done for the past few years.
I don't see why people care. If other people want to be fat, let them. MistressMinakoFat people costs everybody money in terms of health insurance.
I'd do something legisatively if I had the power.

They paid more...........Everybody rates goes up, it's the law of supply and demand.More demand because fatties require more physical maintenance before they keel over at 50.
There's no way to get rid of obese people. They'll always be there. Just feel proud that you aren't one of them.

The fact that they are fat makes no difference. People are going to do whatever they want to do. Fat or not, going to have to spend money on a large group of people whether it be health, welfare, etc. Sure we would save money but dang... people aren't going to do what they are supposed to do.. it is their life.

Not going to disagree, but I am sure some of them think that they are the hotness. There's nothing wrong with wanting people to be more healthy. I don't make fun of obese people, but I do feel sorry for them if they refuse to accept the fact that if they don't adjust their diets and get more active they'll probably be dead by the time they are 40. Can't force them to lose weight, but you can let them know (in a respectful manner) that it's in their best interest to lose a few pounds.
Muscle Fat >>> Skinny Fat. At same waight, or at same fat amount, or at same body fat percentage. Bears are hotter.

Should we ban them from going out into public as well?
Simple solution is to ban all junk food from being sold in public school cafterias.. When I attended Highschool, I swear to god 99% of the things they served were awful for you.. The two most popular meals usually bought was fries and chicken tenders covered in salt, or pizza.. We also had like 2 dozen pop machines streched around the entire building.. Ban these first and foremost. And if the parents or students object, well there is absolutely NOTHING stopping them frombringing a lunch from home.
It's not hard to stay thin. Period. I don't have sympathy for many fat people. And before you give me the "BUT IT'S GLANDULAR" argument, that is a very negligible part of the population. The majority of the USA's fat people are fat because of lifestyle choices.
By the time you are slightly chubby, you should already be making changes to rectify the issue before it spirals out of control.

That depends. Many children are that way because of poor parenting and schooling.. And you really can't hold the child responsible for that. Not to mention we live in a nation in which the junk food is cheaper than the healthy food.

Parents do play a major role, but all children grow up. And can you really tell me that as a child you had no idea whether or not you were chubby? I was kind of chubby in early middle school, and I realized it and became thin. So while I agree that parents should take a healthy role in their child's health, most (psychologically) healthy, functioning human beings can rationally decide to be healthy.

Kind of chubby? Is that suppose to make me think your a expert in the field? Because it certainly doesn't.. Furthermorea persons obesity can be a sign of depression for instance and other such things.. If it was as simple of a problem your stating it, there wouldn't be a epedemic, and there is..
