I don't think it's a good idea because people wouldn't be responsible with it.

If people want to do drugs, I don't see any problem with it. It's when they're irresponsible and cause harm to others is when it becomes a problem.

So do you support making alcohol illegal? That has far more problems than legal weed would

I don't support making alcohol illegal. There's no problem with alcohol until people are irresponsible with it. If one or two drinks are had, there's not really a problem. When people get drunk, however, then problems can start to happen.

I don't even do any drugs, yet I'm completely in favor of legalizing marijuana. And all drugs, for that matter.

Well, not so much legalize, as decriminalize. So long as you're not hurting anyone else, what's the big deal? And if you are hurting someone else, well, you should be held accountable for that whether you're on the influence or not. Drugs are irrelevant in such matters.

Yet again, the people have completely let me down. No hope. No hope for society. People are idiots. This country is littered with morons.

...or rather, besides the sensationalised mental health risks, regular use may cause testicular degeneration and necrosis along with decreased sperm count and motility. The jury's still out on a lot of helath effects, thanks to the recent 420 carpet bombing movement.

The problem with 'weed' is when people are irresponsible with it.

If someone does some irresponsible, he should be held accountable for that act. This goes whether or not the person committing the act was on drugs at the time. The fact that he was using weed at the time shouldn't even come into play.

[QUOTE="LJS9502_basic"] Bad analogy. No one is making pot smokers a slave. They are, however, not legalizing a substance that distorts perception which can impact innocent people.LJS9502_basic

And yet alcohol also distorts perception and can impact innocent people, but is legal. Can you explain what makes alcohol okay but marijuana not?

Which has zero to do with a discussion over marijuana.

It has plenty of relevance. You just don't want to deal with it because it will reveal a huge double standard on your part, and thus destroy your all ready weak argument.

This does not surprise....the majority of people are not in favor of recreational drug use.LJS9502_basic

If somebody is not in favor of recreational use, they shouldn't use it.

Why should somebody who wants to smoke weed have their freedom restricted because of somebody else's opinion?

[QUOTE="Stanley09"] If it passed it would not effect you. Stop being ignorant and throwing your ideas about life onto others. live and let liveStanley09

Funny...Ignorance swings both ways. For as much as others throw their ideas of life against yours, you throw your ideas thusly with people who share the same view as you back in the same way. Be it ignorance, hypocrisy, faith, logic and reason (or lack thereof). Both for and against this proposition has not once let off a good argument as why it should be passed or shouldn't be.

Way I see it, it's who holds majority with shared views and beliefs, and as far as this topic is concerned, I'm not partaking in it.

why shouldnt it be legal?

Even better question: Why even bother debating its legality or illegality? People will just pick a side they choose and thusly the majority side would end up being the say so be it hypocritical or not.
