is this a joke?
because if you're not this will only result in a silly repetitive claim that science disproves god where it actually doesn't.....
Well there are certain parents who dont want their kids taught evolution. Some crazies actually take the bible literally, which is quite problamatic if you actually read the bible.
But by and large most christians are sort of half hearted christians. They like the bit about god, jesus, heaven and the good samaritan but most just ignore the parts that talk about whoring your daughter.

Well someone should tell John boy that god could have created the universe through the laws we know.....
being the creator of the universe and all.....
If people who are religious, believe God created the universe. krystiansThat's not a grammatically correct sentence. In any event, obviously the two are wildly exclusive of one another and stuff.

Scientologists don't. Flawed logic right there.
Then why don't we not see like a huge portion of the population who is religious not letting their kids take science?krystians
Because Science is compulsory.
I know more than half of all my classes contain religious people, but everyone one of then is studying science, and don't they see something weird about their religion and the fact that science is proving then wrong?krystians
Religion and Science are mutually exclusive.

Its in the old testament and according to these parts of the bible christians have to follow both old and new testaments:
"Thou art near, O LORD; and all thy commandments are truth. Concerning thy testimonies, I have known of old that thou hast founded them for ever. " Psalm 119:151-2
"Thy word is true from the beginning: and every one of thy righteous judgments endureth for ever." Psalm 119:160
"Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or tittle shall nowise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled. Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven." Matthew 5:18-19

If they are mutually exclusive then you cannot believe in both.
I think you meant to say they are not mutually exclusive :)
Don't tell me what I meant to say. That's extremely patronising.
You can believe in both BECAUSE they are mutually exclusive. Think about it. If neither conflict with each other (mutually exclusive) then there is no issue in believiing in both.

Mutually exclusive has absolutely nothing to do with belief. It's a term used in statistics stating when two or more situations have absolutely no effect or bearing on the other.

You quoted one passage from the New Testament, the other two were from the Old...What Jesus was saying in Matthew was that you shouldn't take anything out from the bible nor add anything in. Jot and tittle are letters, words, punctuation. And while Jesus said we ought to follow the Ten Commandments, I don't believe all the laws in the Old Testament apply to today. What applies to Christians today is Jesus and his teaching amongst other things.

No offense intended, but I think you may be confused on that definition.
How can you believe that the first two people on earth were Adam and Eve, and then go to school and learn about the evolutionary theory. Which one is telling the truth? So you go to church on Sunday's, but then Monday to Friday you are learning something totally different. If you are following the bible you should not belive what you are learning in school, cause that just goes against what you belive.
There is a difference between taking the bible seriously (in that it has many teachings and lessons that can and shoudl be applied to life) and taking the Bible literally (taking every word and contridiction as fact.
The Bible is not literal, taking a work such as the Bible literally can lead to problems. The Belief in religion (you say Religion, but really, this is more about Christianity it seems) does not negate a belief in science or evolution. I hate this arguement, mainly because unless you are someone who understands that the two are not mutually exclusive it really cannot be explained to you. Arguemnts that stem from this subject are difficult to have (especially via the internet) and sadly the opinions mentioned in them are often ill informed and ignorant.
I get a huge kick when someone tries to disprove evolution or a belief in God. Someone asked me (a Religious studies proffesor at my Uni actually, they posed the question to the class) "If evolution was real, and we came from monkeys why do we still have monkeys?" Wow, it was a tough decision to try and bite my tongue, how do you respond to that? Obviosuly the person is ill informed and i simply do not have time to explain the whole concept of evolution, but non the less, peopel believe they can disprove the theory, guess what, if you dont ''get'' the theory, you'll never disprove it.
If someone wants to disprove evolution (or anythign science related really) to me, fien, present some solid evidence and go from there, but pullign out the religion card or busting out some false information isn't going to do it.
If someone wants to disprove God to me? You're not goign to do it, it is faith. Faith is something above science, you can't touch it. People say they don't believe in God because there is no evidence? Fine. Don't. Someone who does beleive isn't goign to be able to prove anythign to you, you can't prove faith, you can't disprove it either.

The Bible has no contradictions on main points which is the important thing. the bible never contradicts without possible explanation on stories or the life, death, resurrection of Jesus. It never contradicts that Jesus is the only way to salvation.
