[QUOTE="Capitan_Kid"] Yes. Same with alcohol.toast_burner

Alcohol is benefitial if taken moderately.

Weed has quite a few benefits (see medical cannabis) and LSD can be used in therapy to help deal with repressed memories and addiction

The cons outweigh the pros. Best to get rid of them and get rid of the people trying to distribute it.

If it was legal there wouldnt be any problems with people who distribute it. Ands it undecided to me if the cons outweigh the pros.

So we should just give in to the fools that want things that harm them? No. They can either learn to live without, move to another country, or rest in peace.

The cons don't outweigh the pros though. And they do for alcohol and nicotine.

No, but if you legalize it, you can regulate it. Show me a kid that has a problem getting weed, and then compare that to how hard it is for them to get a cigarette or alcohol... or hell even some forms of magic markers.

If you include the detriment to our civil liberties, then it becomes an easy analysis to me. The pros definitely outweigh the cons.

What about the wider issues? How this failed prohibition (and face it, it is failed - if people want drugs they can get them, which is a sure sign of the failings alone) has caused issues.

Your argument consists of sweeping everything under the carpet and delightfully ignoring the hypocritical nature of your argument regarding alcohol and tobacco. So yes, it is moronic.

Its your body, do what you want i say. And cigarettes are much worse than marijuana. By a mile. As is alcohol. If America legalised, regulated and taxed it. My god it would be great. Same with where i live, in fact everywhere.

More like because you don't know what you're talking about and come across as an idiot. Go research said topic before you open your mouth. Doesn't take a college degree to know that prohibition is all bad. Nothing good comes out of it. See: Prohibition of Alcohol.

Prohibition failed because it was ridiculous. Making alcohol illegal led to crime, bootleggers and such. I'd much rather alcohol be freely legal than having Al Capone living on my street. Same with drugs to be honest.

Not strict enough? On who? I don't think you understand my point :/ Prohibition as evidenced by alcohol, does not work. There will always be supply, and as such there will always be demand. I could argue that the stricter the law is, the more profitable it becomes.

Exactly. I dont need substances like those to have fun. Overall, drugs and alcohol are detrimental to your health and the negative far outweights the positive. So anyone who takes them illegaly should feel the full force of the law.

Ands it not actually illegal to take drugs by the way.

It's not really a democracy actually. It's a republic. And, unfortunately companies can donate money to politicians in exchange for favors. This is why marijuana is illegal. Tree farmers funded a huge smear campaign which served two purposes: (1) To associate marijuana with mexicans, and (2) to make people dislike both. And, it worked.

The US prison system is over-flowing with people convicted of minor drug offenses. Those people rot in jail and, to make things even worse, the rest of us pay for it. But nah, they should crack down harder. We need more people behind bars for smoking weed. That'll teach em, right?

Well if the prisons are getting full. We either gotta make more or execute. These people knew what they were doing and knew what the law says. They disobey so they gotta pay the price.

At some point, you have to realize that maybe there's a different approach to this. Do you know the percentage of people who smoke marijuana compared to the ones who get caught? No one is going to quit smoking because they're afraid of getting arrested. Cops, lawyers, judges, politicians, and University presidents all smoke weed.

[QUOTE="Ilovegames1992"]

[QUOTE="Capitan_Kid"] Yes. Same with alcohol.toast_burner

Alcohol is benefitial if taken moderately.

Weed has quite a few benefits (see medical cannabis) and LSD can be used in therapy to help deal with repressed memories and addiction

Which is, of course, why high school kids buy acid... to deal w/ repressed memories. I may not agree, but I can at least respect people who bring the truth... the general push for legal drugs is not for things like repressed memories and glaucoma. People want to get high. That's the truth. They want to get H-I-G-H. Don't obfuscate with disingenuous medical arguments that quite frankly apply to only a fraction of a fraction of those who take recreational drugs.

You're all just jealous because Capitan can live without drugs.

thegerg

Exactly. I dont need substances like those to have fun. Overall, drugs and alcohol are detrimental to your health and the negative far outweights the positive. So anyone who takes them illegaly should feel the full force of the law.

You seem to be very confused. Alcohol has a number of proven medicinal benefits, and drugs have saved the lives of millions over the years.

Still using that confused line, huh? You seem to be incredibly disingenuous. The medical benefits are pretty small when compared with the catastrophic damage that alcohol does to millions, and the collateral damage to others by drinkers. The medical benefits only come to those who drink in moderation, which a) sadly alcohol itself impedes one's ability to do that very thing, that is be moderate; and b) the disease of alcoholism doesn't allow for any possible health benefit. 17.6 million Americans suffer from alcoholism and alcohol related problems.

If people want to do drugs, then frankly, it's their choice. It's kind of like smoking, people know it increases risks of cancer and yada yada yet people still do it. If they want to do it, then let them, they know what they are getting into. Who the **** cares, if you don't want to do drugs, don't do it.

How would it cause then to OD?If anything the drugs would be made safer (a more consistant purity) so you'd have a smaller chance of ODing

[QUOTE="thegerg"]. Do you have anything to back up those statistics? Even if some do just want to get high, so what? Why not let them smoke a little weed? Why do you have such an issue with others using drugs? Maybe it's time for you to grow up and stop worrying so much about what others do, and start thinking about yourself.
