Until there is 100% proof that god does not exist. until then religion will continue.

I still think if there is any sort of proof of a lack of the existence of a deity, some people will still remain faithful and believe in their respective god.

I don't think there will be an end to religion, but the importance of it as a social construct will start to wain. But one can argue that it's importance in western culture is already dwindling, and that people just don't need it in their lives.

And I guess I should say first-world countries instead of western culture, but whatever.

You don't really spread athiesim it's more like a personal choice.

You're born an atheist :|

Religion is something you acquire. If you stop the acquirement, you stayatheist.

This is true, but no amount of logic will ever do away with some people's lifetime of indoctrination.

I can't believe that in 21st Century we are having a discussion about religion. That being said, I don't have any problems with people believeing in anything they want to believe, as long as they aren't bother other people.

How long do you think it will be until humanity stops practicing religion, if ever?

If Jesus could spread Christianity and make it as popular as he did, then I don't see why someone can't spread atheism and make it as popular as organized religion. If someone were to try and spread atheism and make it worldwide, what steps do you think they would have to take?

Jesus didn't spread Christianity, Jesus spread Judaism. Also Jesus was a false messiah, going against all prophecies that the Jews made.

Religion will never fade away, since mankind will never be able to answer all of the mysteries of the universe.

I don't think our contemporary religions are going to stay popular forever, and some may disappear outright, but others will take their place eventually.

I think it's more that Jesus modified Judaism in a way that pronounced him to be the messiah, creating that fun little offshoot of Judaism known as Christianity. Same thing, with some big-ish semantic differences.

Yes, Jewish people might call him a false messiah, but that part really depends on your point of view.

Yes, definitely. But there was always be people who believe in some type of god. We will never be able to disprove an invisible entity, so people will continue to believe in one. Organized religion on the other hand has enough reasons for people to turn away over time. And once the numbers become small enough, they will completely collapse and not even have sort of a structure anymore.

Ron Paul becomes president. Removes entitlements. More people move to religion. Atheists don't get Ron Paul elected or else you will have to go to church charities instead of depending on the government and risk being converted. The horror!
