You shouldn't associate libertarians w/ people like them honestly, they're giving us a bad name here, but then again this place is so damn liberal it's ridiculous.

Too much effort put into the OP for TC to be a troll, so I'll reply: the statistical evidence of diminishing disease incidence as propper vaccination is performed is too overwhelming to be ignored/tied to government policy. Cause x Effect is still one of the most reliable ways to prove something in the realm of science, medicine specially :).

I don't, I associate him with Internet libertarians, a remarkably ignorant subclass of libertarians. There are certainly smart libertarians (and I personally am something like a moderate libertarian).

Honestly, there are probably more libertarians than dems or repubs when people look at all their beliefs, but the 2 party system continues to run this country. I was sad to see Gary Johnson not get 5%, imagine if the 12 million who didn't vote this year knew about him, but he had no publicity at all. My friends had no idea who he was on election day lol, then I tell them about him and they get suckered in :P

Doubt it, a lot of social conservatives would have problems with libertarian social policy (for the record, I'm a social libertarian), while others would have issues with libertarian economic policies (I agree with some of it). I think a libertarian candidate might be able to garner something like high single digits or low double digits, but honestly the party is too extreme for most people.

It's a known fact that the more political parties there are, the more extreme views tend to get. A two party system tends to decrease extremism because it pushes everybody towards the middle.

Look at india for instance, it's got like 25 parties, and it's chaotic.

Also, serious question. What is it with libertarians and conspiracy theories? Does libertarians attract the same group that watches ancient aliens and believes the moon landing was false?

I disagree, a true third party could work, but not any more than that, and most Americans are liberal on rights and conservative on government. And it's not helping that the 2 parties are essentially the same right now. Repubs aren't keeping the government smaller, and the democrats are doing anything but protecting civil liberties. Spending is out of control, and nobody wants to to anything about it. I think it's time we get some real solutions from a new group of common sensed people.

If chemtrails were real, do you not think we all would be dead by now since they only first started showing up during WWII? Plenty of time for the chemicals to wipe out life on the Earth if such was the case.

[QUOTE="sSubZerOo"][QUOTE="bnarmz"]Vaccines were not important for me (and others I know). I never had them and I'm as healthy as day one. Ill rather take my chances with someone sneezing in my face than having the germ injected with other known dangerous ingredients such as Mercury, Thimerosal, Aluminum, ethylene glycol, formaldehyde, streptomycin, and Gelatin from pigs. I never ate pork a day in my life so my folks werent going to let some stranger inject that and other crap into my body. bnarmz
With idiocy like this we are going to have a resurgence of things like Polio..

how, is it idiocy? I'm living proof that it isn't needed. Vaccines are known to make people sick before they even take them, that's idiocy if you ask me.

Not gonna waste my breath on it, but I didn't think it until last year. Wikileaks documents was the cherry on top of it all for me also. And the pentagon having no video footage. Please don't turn this into a 10 page argument lol.

I guess those vaccines have magical powers that allow them to moved from a sealed container and into the atmosphere so they can infect everyone. If that is the case, why can't we teleport ourselves if scientists have perfected it for liquids?

I am half asleep, you could be right and I misunderstood what you are saying. It just sickens me how stupid people are when it comes to something like that for the reasons why I posted. If some secret entity were spreading chemicals via airplanes at high altitude, nothing would be alive today and this forum would not exist. Once I explained what was really happening to someone who once believed such tripe, he had an awakening.

Yes, that's a good argument for having more than two influential parties. Hell, I'd give a lot just to have our own version of "Questions to the Prime Minster"!

Our proceedings consist of a lot of chronically safe grandstanding. Very boring!

Well I dont know if vaccines are ineffective but I know this: Every year for as long as I can remember, my sister, who is a health / fitness freak gets flu vaccine for herself and her children whereas my children and I do not... And every flu season, my sister and her children each get brutally ill, multiple times over, with flu whereas myself and my children do not... go figure...

Unless you post the secret documents and they are without reproach, I'm going to trust decades of research and medical literature.

It's not just you. I've never had a flu shot, and I've very rarely gotten the flu. I never got chicken pox, and I've never had measles. This type of stuff is observable everywhere you look, if you look.

Is everyone using vaccine as a shorter way of describing the H1N1 vaccine or are there this many people actually believing that most vaccines don't work? I do agree that the flue vaccine is a joke, but pretty much everyone who had biology at high school realizes that.

Vaccines are a blight and a joke. They do more harm than good.

Like weedface and bnarmz, you can say this as much as you like, but there is no scientific evidence to back up the statement.

People don't take into account that vaccinations help surb the spread of disease in general, not just in the people who actually get vaccinated. That's why anecdotal evidence like this is insufficient.

Vaccines are supposed to make you a little sick in order to lure out a biological/immune response you idiot. You're injecting (parts) of dead germs/virusses. I hope that your kind does not procreate, spouting crap like this.

Yes! :) This way your immune system builds up Either Antibodies toward it, or T-Memory Cells so that when you get infected the immune system can recognize it right away and say hey I don't like you I want you dead :D I don't feel like being bothered to look into my notes right now and see which one of the two it is :P If I remember right it's the Antibodies that react :P Since the T-Cytotoxic cells don't have any actual microbes to kill :O

The flu vaccine is different from other vaccines (I can't explain how outside of the fact that flu vaccines are grown on chicken eggs, while other vaccines are made from the actual virii and bacteria of other diseases). The sera used to help build immunities are not normally strong enough to actually make someone sick compared to a full blown infection from the real virus.

From what my Tacher has told me, when they make the vaccine for the flu, since it mutates all the time and has lots of different strands, they put their best guesses as to what this seasons strains may be in there. We couldn't come up with evidence on why people get sick afterward though :P My class's thoughts were that perhaps you get another strain while your immune system is busy working with the dead strains or something to that end :P

Fair enough -- you make a very valid point... I'm not saying flu vaccine doesnt work just because myself and my three kids dont get vacine and dont get flu -- its just funny when you think about it

Both B-memory cells and T-cells play a role both B-cell primarily. Jeez man, e fought so hard to fight rubella, chicken pox, diphteria and bunch of other petty diseases e lost infants to, only to have people spout crap like this. Thanks for nothing.
