What if that old guy died? He doesn't have a right to defend himself?jfcundiff

Defending yourself does not equal killing someone you retard....

Oh wait when someone decides to rob my house, rape my wife, and take stuff, I will let them go ahead next time. If it is a serious situation between life or death, and my life is at stake because of some criminal and I have a weapon, I am taking that person out before they have a chance to do serious harm to me. And do not start name calling.

Rape is on a Whole different level from assualt or Robbery.

I don't know what's worse: that they decided to steal a pizza of all things, or that they died as a result of it.

GabuEx

Only one of them died.

Right, but still. "He was killed trying to steal a pizza"? That's pretty much the worst thing anyone could possibly have on their record. :P

No, it'd be more like "He was killed ambushing an innocent individual".

When someone is beating you, has a few of their friends about to join in, and when you retreat and they still attack, you have every right to blow their brains out.

AHUGECAT

no i have the right to fight back. not take a life.

Oh well his life is gone. Whether it's cowardly or not doesn't matter. We got rid of a criminal thug - good.

They tried to steal a pizza... A PIZZA! You think that one of them should have been killed because of that?

Ugh, stop being so black and white. You don't have to choose between letting the guy go or killing him. Seriously. And if you do shoot at him, don't kill him! You can immobilize the criminal or something and wait for the police. Just because someone steals or tries to hit you does not mean you have the right to kill him. Learn some values...

I'm not arguing that the pizza guy's actions weren't justified, only that the idea of stealing a pizza is pretty much the dumbest thing I've ever heard. If you're going to steal something, why not, you know, something valuable, or at least non-perishable?

It does not matter. That person is commiting a crime which is something I do not condone. I group all those things you just mentioned into the same category.

If a group of people who are physically stronger than you assault you and you have no chance of outrunning them, how would you act? In the heat of the moment, the guy could have been scared and reacted in a reasonable way, using the means he had available to defend himself.

How about make it clear he had a weapon? point said weapon at perpetrators? or take a shot in a non vital area of the body. or even in the air to scare them off.

They could have just gone to buy a Pizza. That would take away the chance of going to jail. Or even worse, getting shot by the Pizza guy.

I'm tipping bigger next time.

No, it wasn't stealing a pizza - he was beating a 43 year old man. If he did not want to die, he shouldn't have made that decision. You touch a stove, your hand might get burned. You assault a man (with your friends help as well), you might get your chest blown apart.

Yes. People are too black and white on this. No one dies if you shoot them in the leg. But I don't think anyone would want to continue the assault after your friend is shot.

Maybe none of that would have happened if they'd have limited their actions to simply stealing the pizza without assaulting the man. I doubt the delivery man would have taken any direct measures to try and recover it.

These guys were starting at the bottom. Yeah, according to the PC news, they had a "great future." But if they would've got away with stealing this pizza and beating a man what IS next? What IS their future? My bet is that it has more to do with robbing banks than college.

Probably the pizza man didn't intend to kill the teens. He was just unskilled with the weapon. The guy probably didn't deserve to die, but he should've thought twice before joining a gang and try to rob someone.

Yes you can die if shot in the leg.

True. I know someone who got stabbed in the leg and died. It hit a big bloodvein.

Anyway, if the killing is not intentional, and your action is morally correct. But if you put a bullet in his head... Ehh..

According to the story, the Pizza Man was retreating and still beaing beat. He had every right to defend himself by whatever means.

no, not by killing someone. i am sorry but this is not an acceptable excuse for killing someone.

Legitimate defense, those "thugs" shouldn't of acted like idiots. Don't blame the pizza man, blame the "thugs" lack of better judgement.

Down where he works there are plenty of gangs who give a lot of nonsense to the cops and people around the area. They cause a lot of trouble. MY dad has never fired his gun he says, but he uses a taser. But like he says if someone walks into our house and do harm he is dropping them right away before they can cause harm. He sees what criminals do down in Tampa and the stuff they pull.

this was one of the comments and i agree with what this guy said A government that is big enough to give you all you want is big enough to take it all away....attributed to Davy Crockett. That being said we as loyal citizens of this country shouldn't have to relay on the government to protect us. We as citizens have a right to not only defend our selves but our country. Armed citizens are the founding fathers of this country. John Q Public shed first blood for this great country. Mr Millers life was hanging in the balance and he like our forefathers before him, he stood his ground and defended his life. I'm certain he wishes there was some other way but in the end he had to make a choice. I personally believe he made the only choice he could at that moment in time.

They could have just gone to buy a Pizza. That would take away the chance of going to jail. Or even worse, getting shot by the Pizza guy.

I'm tipping bigger next time.AHUGECAT

That's not what I'm asking. I'm asking if 'AHUGECAT' thinks (and excuse me if I have misenterpreted) that stealing a pizza is a crime that is worthy of death as punishment.

The man did not shoot the teenagers because they (attempted to) steal the pizza.

Wait a second... They were beating him up over a pizza? Then they were just stupid. I thought they just took the pizza and he shot them. I still don't think he should have killed him though. He could have just threatened them with it, if anything...

[QUOTE="jfcundiff"] My dad is a cop and deals with this stuff all the time. You can think it does not happen. I could care less. jfcundiff

Sure it can happen. Especially if the target is on drugs. But I don't think many will.

Btw, I don't believe a son of a cop would be that trigger happy. Dunno where you live or how cops work there, but that stuff wouldn't fly here.

Down where he works there are plenty of gangs who give a lot of nonsense to the cops and people around the area. They cause a lot of trouble. MY dad has never fired his gun he says, but he uses a taser. But like he says if someone walks into our house and do harm he is dropping them right away. He sees what criminals do down in Tampa and the stuff they pull.

Oh, so you're compairing criminal gangs with a bunch off random idiots trying to beat um someone and take his pizza? Also, I don't think the topic was about someone breaking in to your house... Anyone, you're father sounds pretty smart, but you're still too trigger happy.

 i dont know what is more funny, the fact that he was carrying his gun in a fanny pack or that he still delivered the pizza after.

"Outta my way, boys. Somebody needs their pizza!"*BANG*

If you worked down there, you would understand.

[QUOTE="RiseAgainst12"]this thread is getting silly, time for me to leave.AHUGECAT

Why is it OK for 4 teenagers to jump a 43 year old man trying to feed his family but it's not OK for him to defend himself?

He can defend himself all he likes, i just don't agree with him pulling a gun and killing someone. if you are gonna carry a gun to defend yourself be responsible with it, otherwise don't carry one.

this was one of the comments and i agree with what this guy said A government that is big enough to give you all you want is big enough to take it all away....attributed to Davy Crockett. I personally believe he made the only choice he could at that moment in time.XD4NTESINF3RNOX

THe killing wasn't intentional, he was running and he shot from the hip backwards...and the shot went straight through the "thug's" chest.

lulz. My favorite is still the dude in NYC that was getting mugged by three guys. They didn't realize he was a black belt in some martial arts and the guy killed one and seriously injured the other all while having a knife in his abdomen.

How was he not responsible? Do you really think that while running, he should have stopped, turned, pointed the gun carefully at the attacker's lower leg, and fired, all while being beaten? He fired two shots while running away to defend himself and scare off the other attackers.

There were other ways to take care of them, but he probably killed the guy because he was scared in the heat of the moment, guess I can't blame him, hope he doesn't feel guilty about it. But yeah, those guys must've really wanted that pizza...

That's a terrible example. Someone breaking into your house and raping your wife is much different than what happened here.
