[QUOTE="Gs4u2"] This is hopeless lmao  i love the young ''philosophers'' and "history experts" in this thread thinking they know everything and they must be right.jointed
It has got nothing to do with knowing everything. It has however got something to do with knowing the very basics of American politics.

The very basics of american politics are not derived from today, nor have they always been the same, and that's what you, and many people in this thread, fail to understand. ;)

Teenaged

Because no one has studied history enough to say the government of the US has always been secular with no huge influence of religion

Well then that is true for everyone participating here. We dont know everything thus we should stop.

Lets pack it up people! Move it! Out of this thread!

Yep. *plays marching music*

Wait...this is my thread. Crap...

[QUOTE="BabbsTheTitan"] NOW they dont, bud. but they USED to play a MAJOR role. This whole thing started when someone said america has always been secular. BabbsTheTitan

NO THEY DID NOT.

The three branches of the government have ALWAYS been secular. That is a fact.

Completely irrelevant, Christianity has never been part of the structure of government. Individuals have perhaps influenced the government, but the fundamental structure has remained secular.

Due to separation of church and state, the US is a nation with a Christian majority, rather than a Christian nation.

Fitting song for the occasion.

Also, I don't think opinion has got much to do with this argument.

I'd say no to this question. America is the "boiling pot", due to the fact that our country is rich with so many different types of religions, races, ect. A Christian country would be a country made up of all Christians, or at least the government of said country forces religion upon the people. Since in America we have Freedom of Religion, it isn't a country of Christians.

No, the majority of our country is atheist. I would even say the majority of people that go to church don't fully believe in God.msuspartan11

It's ironic that England, which officially is a Christian country, with bishops in the house of lords, is in practice far more secular than the USA, with a separation of the Church and state.

I'd like to say it's because of better education. But it's more likely the fact that it is loosely attached to a culturally superior secular mega continent that has had it's fun with religion.

Oddly enough, the leader of one of the biggest secular organisations in America is a Christian.
