just my 2cents but due to my extensive knoledge of world militaries from wikepedia and the Discovery channel :)
I'd say that the Europeans would win, ok the battle for the atlantic would be about 3:1 in favor for the US, i mean be honest guys the US air force and Navy would cream the Europeans if they focused all their navy and air force on the Atlantic, however if they didnt and had it spread around the world like it is today you could call it 1:1.
Just look at the European theatre, their only exit/entrance to europe is pretty much the Atlantic Ocean so most of their navys and air forces would be situated there straight away, so it would be pretty even but lets say that the US comes out on top with heavy losses which is logical even if it was 3:1 odds.
They'd invade Europe next by land, and this isnt going to be against some poorley led Iraq army that has about the same amount of Morale as Leo in the Departed. These guys are going to be fighting for something more important than making sure Osama doesnt get out of his cave, their going to be fighting for their countries survival and the freedom of their parents,their children and all their loved ones and their fellow country men.
US would take Ireland and the west coast of france pretty easy but once they get into the thick of the countries they are going to be met with huge restistance, especially in France their going to be having most of the french attacking them from everywhere, and this isnt going to some small force of a few divisions fighting guerilla war(well plus that) its going to be over 600,000 french trained soldiers, plus a crap load of angry civilians with croisont grenades.
And thats just the French, we're not including the Dutch,belgians,Germans,Italians,Danes, ect.
Now lets go to England, The US will want to take that pretty dam fast if they ever want to take mainland europe, The British navy and Airforce isnt as large as the US's but once again it's going to come to fighting on the ground and that where i see them losing, no offence but attacking Britain,Scotland and Wales by land will be like the Vietnam war (minus the jungles plus the hugely more advanced and equiped armys) and i cant see the US bombing the Crap outa the UK because thats bad for publicity.
Oh and did i forget to mention all the Norwegians,Swedes,Finnish and possibley a few Russians helping out Britain?
Ok so lets go to the Eastern front, The US's 1st major concern over there would be to take the Middle East, But lets not forget how freaken Close the Russians are to the Middle East and the fact that they can get there by land as apposed to the US and Canada that have to get there by Sea and Air, and its not just the Russians who will be able to pour into there it will be the rest of the European countires that arnt involved in the rest of the war Poland,Hungary,Greece,Turkey,Ukraine ect.
And people will say that the US air force will destroy every1 in the Middle East, well its certainley not going to destroy them but it sure as hell will be a pain in the but while it lasts over there.
The Middle East i say has an advantage to the Europeans due to how close they are and the fact that Russia can pour huge amounts of troops into there in a short amount of time beleive it or not, and even if the US are winning there then you can count on the Spetnaz to blow up every oil rig in sight.
Overall in my opinion and as every1 else seems to be saying their opinions because no1 here is a General lol i think the US will win the War for the 1st few years but eventually its going to be a War of attrician and as the years role by the US is going to be pushed out of europe the Europeans are going to re stabilise their navys and air force and you can probably count on them trying to make an invasion on US soil after about 15 years of global fighting but it will be pushed back and then there will be a cease fire and every1 will lose cause China wil have been waiting.
But then again guys, THIS WILL NEVER HAPPEN
