Aside from that, The Velvet Underground > The Beatles in terms of the 60s.
Metalheads are annoying creatures, and mind me, I used to be one.
The Dark Side of the Moon is among the worst Pink Floyd albums. I find it terribly uninteresting.
Madvillain (and thus their album Madvillainy) is overrated because I find it uninteresting and full of useless moments.
Thrash metal is garbage. 99% of power metal is garbage. In fact, the only metal I find enjoyable is black metal, death metal, doom metal, and post-metal (plus all variants of each). But then again, I also find most of each genre garbage too. As it is with any genre, the lot istrash with only a select few being standout gems. Deathspell Omega and Neurosis are perhaps the greatest metal bands of this generation and a fine example.
death metal isnt complex as a genre or a general trend. it's an illusion from speed.
cynic's albums arent getting worse. they are just one of the few bands that isnt trying to make a career off releasing the same album a dozen times.

I didn't know that was unpopular. I know a large number that embrace Traced in Air. Of course, their remix EP was poor, but their recent EP (Carbon something) was pretty nice.
1. Lyrics have nothing to do with music.
2. The electric guitar is the single worst-sounding instrument in the world.
3. Most movie/game soundtracks consists of boring unlistenable garbage. Lame.

Lyrics can add to the emotional factor...if the band did have a strong emotional factor in the first place.

Sorry if I was a bit snobby in the last post I wasnt trying to imply that you dont like Death metal
You misunderstand, beatles fans are not snobs. Beatles fans are the common man. It is people who do NOT like the beatles who are the snobs. True story. It's that kind of snobbish attitude towards the topic that makes my indifference to the Beatles stronger.
I swear that people only like the Beatles because it establishes some imaginary superiority to others.

You're the same person that said not too long ago that someone who doesn't like the Beatles is in need of musical education.

No, I'm not. I know what I like. As true as that is, knowledge and understanding comes from all sorts of mediums, including music. That's what I meant. To disregard the lyrical value of music is to undermine loads of talented people with something actually worth saying in their passion.Led Zeppelin are very overrated
Emo is an excellent genre (as long as you stay away from the mainstream groups)
Kurt Cobain couldn't sing and his guitar playing was nothing notable
All AC/DC songs sound the same
Jimi Hendrix is the most overrated musician in history, and his singing was poor.
I cannot stand Tom Wait's voice one bit. At least he can write a song
Nine Inch Nails are a poor example of an industrial group. If you want industrial, listen to Skinny Puppy (I really like NIN with that said)
Cliff Burton was nothing special. His bass playing was decent
Reign in Blood is hella overrated. Hell Awaits is the best Slayer album.

I can appreciate what they did for the music industry just not what they have recordedtrent reznor is far beyond industrial, it's disrespectful to try and even pigeonhole him like that. jimi hendrix created an entire sound, clean vocals are overrated.

If he/she makes good music, that I enjoy listening to, I'll listen to it. Lyrics are not needed, for me to be able to enjoy it. I enjoy the music, not the poetry. I'm not asking you to share my view, but please don't tell me I'm missing out on anything, just because I don't care about lyrics at all. I don't need the artist to tell me what to feel.
