My musical taste is better than yours.

Aside from that, The Velvet Underground > The Beatles in terms of the 60s.

Metalheads are annoying creatures, and mind me, I used to be one.

The Dark Side of the Moon is among the worst Pink Floyd albums. I find it terribly uninteresting.

Madvillain (and thus their album Madvillainy) is overrated because I find it uninteresting and full of useless moments.

Thrash metal is garbage. 99% of power metal is garbage. In fact, the only metal I find enjoyable is black metal, death metal, doom metal, and post-metal (plus all variants of each). But then again, I also find most of each genre garbage too. As it is with any genre, the lot istrash with only a select few being standout gems. Deathspell Omega and Neurosis are perhaps the greatest metal bands of this generation and a fine example.

death metal isnt complex as a genre or a general trend. it's an illusion from speed.

cynic's albums arent getting worse. they are just one of the few bands that isnt trying to make a career off releasing the same album a dozen times.

I didn't know that was unpopular. I know a large number that embrace Traced in Air. Of course, their remix EP was poor, but their recent EP (Carbon something) was pretty nice.

1. Lyrics have nothing to do with music.

2. The electric guitar is the single worst-sounding instrument in the world.

3. Most movie/game soundtracks consists of boring unlistenable garbage. Lame.

You haven't heard the right bands and if you have you don't like it because it takes much time/effort to listen to such as genres like classical which usually takes an open-mind to get into

Lyrics is words written on a paper. Music is sound. So how the hell is lyrics music? They're not. If lyrics is the only redeeming factor in a certain track, that track is **** Simple as that.

i havent conducted a poll or anything. i just always hear outrage or disappointment that they didn't stick to the more death metal inspired Focus. i am glad to hear when people like their newer stuff too.

Lyrics can add to the emotional factor...if the band did have a strong emotional factor in the first place.

It's that kind of snobbish attitude towards the topic that makes my indifference to the Beatles stronger.

I swear that people only like the Beatles because it establishes some imaginary superiority to others.

This song was recorded in 1964. Roll that date around your brain for a second. 1964. They managed to record this in 1964, using nothing but tape recorders.

some people don't like the beatles, get over it.

I know some people don't like the Beatles, this is an unfortunate fact of life. These people are an underclass of society that require treatment and education, not scorn.

exactly, if you can't at least appreciate what the beatles did for music then the problem is with YOU AND YOU ONLY.

Maybe, but they have nothing to do with the music itself. Poetry is great, but it's not really needed in good music.

Like, The Beatles. I couldn't care less about their lyrics. They've made some damn good melodies, and they were damn talented in that area. I listen to the music, not the words.

And vocalization of lyrics aren't sound...? :|

I'm sorry, you're really not making much sense.

MadVybz

Lyrics = the words. Vocals = the sound. I like the sound of the human voice. Couldn't care less about the words that's being sung.

Then all I can say is that you're missing out.

No, I'm not. I know what I like.

[QUOTE="Zeviander"]The hybridization of extreme metal and symphonic arrangements is quite possibly the most musically beautiful thing ever. A prefect contrast between the harsh power of distorted instruments and strained vocals combined with the sharp cleanliness of unmodified instruments and piercing intensity of clean vocals. Granted, both genres apart have their place and their own beauty, but when they come together, they just get my motor running like nothing else.

As true as that is, knowledge and understanding comes from all sorts of mediums, including music. That's what I meant. To disregard the lyrical value of music is to undermine loads of talented people with something actually worth saying in their passion.

Led Zeppelin are very overrated

Emo is an excellent genre (as long as you stay away from the mainstream groups)

Kurt Cobain couldn't sing and his guitar playing was nothing notable

All AC/DC songs sound the same

Jimi Hendrix is the most overrated musician in history, and his singing was poor.

I cannot stand Tom Wait's voice one bit. At least he can write a song

Nine Inch Nails are a poor example of an industrial group. If you want industrial, listen to Skinny Puppy (I really like NIN with that said)

Cliff Burton was nothing special. His bass playing was decent

Reign in Blood is hella overrated. Hell Awaits is the best Slayer album.

[QUOTE="Ninja-Hippo"][QUOTE="Chris_Williams"] some people don't like the beatles, get over it.lazerface216

I know some people don't like the Beatles, this is an unfortunate fact of life. These people are an underclass of society that require treatment and education, not scorn.

exactly, if you can't at least appreciate what the beatles did for music then the problem is with YOU AND YOU ONLY.

I can appreciate what they did for the music industry just not what they have recorded

trent reznor is far beyond industrial, it's disrespectful to try and even pigeonhole him like that. jimi hendrix created an entire sound, clean vocals are overrated.

I don't care about the artist's message. If he/she makes good music, that I enjoy listening to, I'll listen to it. Lyrics are not needed, for me to be able to enjoy it. I enjoy the music, not the poetry. I'm not asking you to share my view, but please don't tell me I'm missing out on anything, just because I don't care about lyrics at all. I don't need the artist to tell me what to feel. If the music is good, it'll speak for itself.
