Black people say it so they can take away the racist meaning. So they say it casually to themselves so if someone were to say it to future generations it wouldn't be an insult.xTheExploited
Never gonna happen if they keep freakin out.
i dont want to sound ignorant but why can only black people say that word? You dont really see white people walking around calling each other cracker casually. I dont mean to sound ignorant in any way, it just confuses me a bit.Film-GuyI laugh at humanity at having the luxury of auto indignation for a simple and stupid word.
because of racists like al sharpton and the stupid NAACP. i don't care i'm white and i say it among my family. freedom of speech and if the blacks don't like it, then i just got to tell them to stop being so sensitive. if the blacks don't want us saying it then they should tell their crappy rappers not to say it.whipassmtYes, I agree with you.

lol don't even have the balls to say it to a black person. Nice one big man.
So that we have some erroneous obligation to babysit their whims over a fear of a word, given, of course, that us whites are all racists........CptJSparrow
How about you just try not to use the word... unless you feel some erroneous obligation to do so. :|
Cracker and the N word aren't the same thing...Aljosa23
Of course they are. They're both racial slurs.

According to that line of logic, a white person should be able to use it, so long as it isn't in a insulting manner.

The second is a light shade of black. If you take it as something else then that's your own problem, don't enforce your own beliefs on other people. Just as the first has a meaning.
along with the N word, honkey, cracker, sp** and several other words should be stricken from the dictionary because then they wouldn't exsist............therefore the wouldn't be real words for people to use casually.........
okay so that won't happen but it is a thought. who cares if they are the only ones who can say it........it isn't going to change anything that has already occured do to that words use in history

I never use it; I have no need to---but do the doltish thugs who use it consistently yet condemn anyone else who says it have a need to? I thought not. All of them need to stop whining about being a "minority" and start earning what they ask for rather than asking society to accommodate them and their hypocrisy.[QUOTE="bradleybhoy"][QUOTE="CptJSparrow"]So that we have some erroneous obligation to babysit their whims over a fear of a word, given, of course, that us whites are all racists........CptJSparrow

I agree with your first sentence though.

Indeed they both are expressions of racial superiority however due to the many racial inequalities in American **** has much more power because it is a verbal reinforcement of these inequalities whereas cracker is generally just an empty insult. That's the difference.

Well sorry, gosh. I was just trying to add a little south-of-the-border flavor to our forum.
I wonder this too. I guess if you're a member of the affected race, you get a "free pass"
But I don't go around calling everyone I know "D*go" and "P*lak"
Have you ever learned about World History? That said..everyone uses that word to take away its evil implications. By using it casually, it mocks the people who use it for insults.
It's something for those who don't have the true solution in hand. It's not the true answer and I think it only hinders it, but sometimes sidelining issues can be the way to confuse the enemy into an opening of their defense.

i haven't really heard it from them that often.
but i think who cares, its just a word.
does everyone want to say it?
I think the only reason most black people use the word and dont want white people saying it is because of their parent. They grow up in homes where their parents used the word all the time and then tell them that its wrong for white people to say it.
Well thats the best thatI can come up with because whenever I ask other black people why they say it, they always give me that lame excuse that its an impowering word or something and I find that to be complete bull***.

It means "black" in spanish, so it's used about as often as we use "black"

I think it probably does have something to do with the parents, though not in my case. I never say the word, but I don't care if anyone calls me that, whether they're black or white.

Sometimes these forums really make me wonder. I used to hate hiostory at school it was the most dull subject, but I sure am glad I picked up the basics. The answer to the thread's question isn't complicated.

same here, i say along with my friends its just like any other word.

I know my history quite well. I know perfectly well about slavery and then what happened for a hundred years afterward.
Thats exactly why I dont say the word. I find that if we dont want white people to say the word then we shouldn't say it. Its creates an unnecessary inequality that really doesn't have to be there.
