We don't hate Canada, we hate Quebec.LegendaryscmtDon't worry, most Canadians do too...particularly the entire western half of the country.
I wouldn't confuse hate with general teasing. I know a lot of people who make silly Canada jokes, but I don't know anyone who hates Canada.xXBuffJeffXxExactly. Canada's a nice place, they just end up being the butt of a lot of jokes. :P
People I know just joke about it no one actually hates Canada and yes Canadian forces assisted in the retaking of the Netherlands although...they're really wasn't any resistance left at the time because Allied Forces had already caught off the Western half of Germany
Because of that person who makes threads about Canada fighting a winning against actual super powers.SOedipusThis is why I am going to comment here. Because, of that guy who will not stop nagging Gamespot that Canada will fight and win agianst real military tyrants. He made that dumb thread awhile back provoking people by putting canada allied with two military juggernauts (China and Russian) and saying that "Canada" will win agianst the United States  nominated dumbest thread of the month. But overall, I love Canada. I have friends from Canada.
the only i hate about living here is that toronto sucks at every sport we particpate in. GO LEAFS, SUCK!
but other than that canada rules :P
Well, I'm a Canuck (albiet one who's spent 75% of his adult life working in other countries). Every time I come back to Canada, I find a little more to dislike about the place.
Here's what sucks about my country:
- Very high taxes yet services paid for with tax money are poorly managed and poorly administered. Nor is the money spent in a fair manner. If you're white, male, single, and straight, you get nothing for the money you pay.
- Liberal white guilt rules the agenda when it comes to legislation.
-Victim mentality amongst the self appointed martyrs of the week.
- No real culture. We define ourselves by pointing out how we're different from Americans.
- Smugness when it comes to comparing ourselves to Americans based solely on meaningless UN statistics.
- It's bloody cold!
- Over-emphasis on the "rights of the individual" for the last couple of generations has led to too many people developing an over-inflated sense of entitlement. Leads people to ignore societal rules and niceties and then try to rationalize their behaviour by blaming some external factor. Can't believe the number of slack-jawed idiots in this country who think getting stoned just prior to (or even at) work who seem to think that such behaviour is somehow a statement against corporate greed. If you dare call them on it, somehow you're an a-hole, facist, etc. The same mentality applies to those in business. Individuals and corporations seem to think SOP is to screw over the customer and only right things if the customer complains loudly and long enough.
-Did I mention that it's bloody cold?
-Nanny state mentality. Everything must be regulated because some couldn't act in a responsible manner and screwed things up for everybody else.
-The fees that go along with said regulations.
-Lack of real freedom due to said regulations.
-and it's bloody cold.

Yet Quebec is the province most like Europe.. the hate of French people in America is unfounded and utterly pointless. There is no reason to hate the French, whether they be French Canadian or from France.

No, Quebec is taking some things too far, even France doesn't do. Quebec even changed their stop signs to say "ARRET", whereas most of the world says "STOP" even if using their native alphabet. France has some of the most open-minded people I've ever met. Quebec has the least (from where I've traveled). They're totally different.[QUOTE="Tezcatlipoca666"][QUOTE="Paladin_King"] Don't worry, most Canadians do too...particularly the entire western half of the country.SOedipus

Quebec, like any other region, has people who are close-minded idiots. I won't dispute that but for the most part they are open minded, more so than most Southern Amercians anyway.
I have to agree though, most Americans and Canadians won't feel welcome in Quebec because of the language barrier and because you will most likely be treated like crap. There is a reason for this, it isn't necessarily fair to others but the French people of Quebec feel oppressed. They are the only French province in Canada and share borders with the US who have a massive cultural influence on all of North America. I can't blame them for feeling a little on edge and overprotective at times.
Concerning Canada.. well from what I have seen while visiting Europe we are loved.. especially in the UK where they thought my accent was "funny".
Canada is going to take over the world one day.polishkid99No CAUSE WE GOT NUKES AND WE GONNA NUKE THE WORLD ALL HAIL AMERICA
