How about Smirnoff Ice or Zima?

I haven't tried the flavored beers. They any good?

cametall

The Smirnoff coolers are really good and worth taking a little flack for drinking them as a guy.

However, I would stay away from Zima because just having one with you is liable to get you beat up....

These days in america beer is the least popular bevarage among adults. Beer doesn't taste good, it's just that after you drink it enough you tolerate it, it won't bother you anymore. It's good on a hot day when there is nothing else to drink. It's common at parties because it's the cheapest and it's better than nothing.

A mod encouraging me to do illegal things?!?! My world is falling apart. :cry:Cube_of_MooN
It'd be even worse if I gave you the beer, then it'd be a mod making you do illegal things :P.

According to my grandfather, beer's taste went downhill around the time FDR began the liberal trend of collectivist government initiatives, i.e. the regulation of the alcohol industry.

When he was a boy, he used to work at a coal mine where it was his job to fetch the miners' food, water, and what have you. He recalls the beer at "the store down the road" as being the best he ever tasted. He has not drunk any alcohol since roughly the mid-20th century.

Roosevelt died in 1945, and I gave a rough estimate of his point of abstinence. This leaves a good ten or fifteen year period for him to come to hate beer.

Of course, my anecdote has no critical value whatsoever. I merely find it interesting.

Back then it was the large companies made the good beer. Nowadays the large corporations make crappy beer. You know, Bud, Coors, Miller? The good beer is out there, it's just being brewed by small independant breweries

You either like beer or you don't. My favourite beers are Guiness, Murpheys and pretty much any Weis Beer. I don't particularly like American beer.

And everyone thinks they have to actively "acquire" this taste. They don't. I had my first beer and I thought it tasted like crap. I didn't have another one for a year or so and all of a sudden I loved it. The taste basically acquired itself for me. Same with sushi, mushrooms, and Winchester Sauce.

Exactly. When I first wanted to get into beer, I decided to do some research and get recommendations from the web on good beers. The beers I began with I loved; no taste acquiring for me.

No, beer is popular amongst teenagers and college students. Not so much the general public. I can tell you from experience you either like beer or you don't. If you don't like it you won't find one that tastes better than the other.

Now I never tasted ****(poop) before but I'd imagine it tastes bad like beer. I've tried budweiser, corona and after 6 months of drinking my first beers, i tried samuel adams summer ale flavor cause people said it tasted good but that nasty **** tasted the same. How can anyone drink that bitter crap?GSWarriors-

It tastes like crap because you're drinking crappy beers.

It all depends on your tastes. There are skunky, imported lager beers like Steinlager or Becks. Chimay is a great Belgian ale. Pilsner Urquell is the king of pilsner style beers. There are also a plethora of great micro-breweries around the US...offering everything imaginable. Try some of them out. The Deshutes brewery in Oregon makes some great beers...try Obsidian Stout if you like dark beers. Sierra Nevada also makes some great beers. Try their porter (dark) or their pale ale. Anchorsteam also makes some great beers. What is available at your market will probably vary, depending on your locale, but there's a lot out there besides Budweiser and MGD.

If none of those do it for you, then you probably just don't like beer. Which is fine. I actually prefer red wine (preferably French or Napa) to beer.

And I think people spend more on imports because they do tend to be a little less nasty than domestics, but I think it's mostly because it's trendy. They think it's cool to say they "only drink imports" (while having an arrogant smirk on their face).

clicketyclick

Little do they know that beer is the poor man's wine. :D *flame shields*

I could argue that beer is as complex or moreso than wine and pairs better with foods than wine.

i think the reason some people dont like beer is because they cant taste the fine tastes of it, the same with whiskey, drink it slowly, concentrate, appreciate the taste. dont gulp it, its a waste of beer, drinking beer to get drunk is a bad habit IMO, i dont usually drink vodka because enjoying it can be difficult, many brands of vodka are just made with relatively bad quality water and are badly distilled, but drinking good cold vodka can be very rewarding, i once drunk very cold Finlandia with a couple of friends, we didnt mix it or ate anything, just drunk it clean and it was very good.

Just came back from quick stop at my favorite bar (60 beers on tap there!). Just had a glass St. Bernardus Pater 6 on draught! Another fantastic and delicious beer from them. Malty, biscuity, dark fruit taste with a tiny hint of bitterness in the finish to balance it out. And it always looks sexy in it's own glass 8)

Beer Beer BeerBR1NG3R

From evening to morning,
and morning to evening,
I wanna drink,
something stronger than a man.
From evening to morning,
and morning to evening,
I wanna drink,
'cause that's what I am.

[Chorus:]
Beer, beer!
I want beer, from beer I get really drunk.
Beer, beer!
I need more beer so much I pass out.
Beer, beer!
I want beer, from beer I get really drunk.
Beer, beer!
I need more beer so much I pass out.

For beer I'm working,
for beer I'm fighting.
For beer I'll do,
whatever I have to.
When drunk I'm talking,
when drunk I'm joking,
when drunk I can be as I've always wanted to be.

Chimay is awesome: brewed by monks :o I've yet to try the red label (premiere) but the blue (grande reserve) and the white label (cinq cents) are delicious.

My dad gets it from the LCBO, it's the only place where he can find import here... They don't sell Karlovacko here from his own country though...(Croatia)

The beers you've tried are part of the problem. Corona and Budweiser are awful.

It is an acquired taste, though. As your tastebuds develop you may get an appreciation for the more subtle flavours in beer - it is bitter, yes, but like coffee that's kind of the point. There are also many other flavours and they can be found in the different varieties of beer - if you like fruity beer, brew your own and throw in some raspberries or peach slices or whatever. Porter can have a chocolate or coffee hint to it.

That's not to say that you'll definitely like beer later in life, but chances are pretty good that you will as your taste buds get away from liking overly sweet things and when you take a sip of an ice cold porter it'll be like drinking sex.

Yeah, I hate the taste of beer.

I can only tolerate it after I'm too buzzed to care.

Just a guess, but are you in your young teens? If so, let your taste buds mature a little. I love the taste of beer.
