First off I'm from the US, and I find it odd that the United States gets made fun of so much. Can somebody explain why? Here's some things I find odd:

Two days after the Indian Ocean tsunami in 2004 the United States sent a $300million check to the relief effort. The response was basically: "What, that's it?"

The United States is in so much debt it isn't even funny (go to: http://www.brillig.com/debt_clock/ after five seconds click refresh and watch how much it goes up). We're always sending money and all people do is complain, you don't think we could keep it?

The United States is ranked 16 on the list of % of people living in poverty. (Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Poverty_in_the_United_States )

I understand that the war is a big controversey, but after Sept 11, when over 3000 people were murdered (remember that?), everybody was pretty much for it. George W. Bush is still fighting because he's standing up for what he believes in. Is that a bad thing? I think not.

Yeah, I hear this from a lot of my friends from other countries ; "Im going to go back, the U.S. is horrible". I just tell them to go back and walk away. If its so bad then leave.

[QUOTE="Mr_sprinkles"][QUOTE="blackngold29"] Where do you put all the terrorists that your country found? Oh ya you don't need a prison, because there aren't any.blackngold29
over in this country we put people on trial before we imprison them. you know, innocent until proven guilty?

Usually when you are pulled out of a bunker in the mountains or a terrorist camp, you're guility.

do you honestly believe that thats where the people in guantanamo came from? they were pulled off the streets of iraq, and various other arab states.

anyway, in america if you muder somebody you still go on trial even if they find you there with the knife in your hands covered in blood.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guantanamo_Bay_detainment_camp Maybe you should do some reading, intro paragraph: "Of the roughly 355 still incarcerated, U.S. officials said they intend to eventually put 60 to 80 on trial and free the rest"

Ah, I'm from Canada, and I personally love America, a lot of things there are just so cool! However, your eating portions in resurants aren't realistic. I was never fully finishing my plate of food, our portions up here are just smaller more human like :P. One more thing as well is that you guys can be very rude, oh and you don't like to cover up your ghettos I took one wrong turn in Buffalo and thought someone was going to steal my car. It was like -20 out and there were random people standing on the side walks looking off in space.

- violating human rights : only can think of 1 example right now, Napalm

Second_Rook

WW2 was a cataclysmic event and could only be brought to an end with something as drastic and obscene as a nuclear weapon. Somebody had to do it.

plz, read a book about nuclear weapons before you ever post again on GS

thanks

What do you reccomend and which have you read?

start with the basic, nuclear weapons stand far from napalm

Is that so? I will need a title.

Napalm = a bomb with a certain combination of oil, that can reach a temperature of 1200C

nuclear = a way to split alot of atoms with a small explosion

the point of a fair trial is that if you're innocent you're set free BEFORE you go to prison. great, they're intending to set them free. if they had had a trial before they were imprisoned, they would have been set free six years earlier, and the innocent would have been sorted from the guilty right there and then.

what is the point any sort of justice system if they punish you for what you have been accused of, not what you are guilty of?

Hmm, I don't know. I only bash Americans if they say stupid things...as in "We have to most powerful army in the whole frekkin world, and you should be happy we don't use it against you" or "This is obviously the greatest country in the world".

They are both incredibly inhumane ways to kill someone, if there is a humane way.

People are held in prison before their trials all the time, we don't like child rapist walking around until their court day is here.
