Why is USA usually the innocent nation?

Is it because the world hates "American freedom"?
Is it because of the political leaders kissing so much Israeli ass?

Arabs/Muslims hate us because of our constant annoying presence on their land and imposing our sanctions on them if they don't comply with western policy that our political leaders want to inject in that part of the world. So I would understand why they would have a gripe against American policy and felt compelled to take action because "enough is enough" and not so much the idea of freedom alone which triggering the attacks as some Islamophobes tend to suggest. I mean lets face it, if America were on that end they the Middle East is in, we'd do the same after many years of hostile activites towards us.

So, why is it often looked ar asthoughUSA is usually the innocent one getting caught off guard war after war after war such as in World War I & II, 9/11 etc? Especially inthe most recent warswhere our political leaders seem the most ambitious of the outcome? How is USA always the innocent?

I live in the US, and always have. We're far from innocent. I don't know about WW2 and Pearl Harbor.. but I know that in many cases the US gets so involved in the business of other countries that we get attacked. It's not that we're innocent at all.. we just play it off that way to the public. How many years since the end of WW2 has the US NOT had some sort of major foreign military presence or operation going on? And that doesn't even count the political/under the table type stuff that our government pulls all the time. The US is a big bully that helps to support itself by manipulating affairs overseas to it's advantage.

The US plays the face of "freedom fighter", but all the US cares about is maintaining the upper hand where power is concerned. Economic superiority. America is failing horribly! Bring in troops to make it right? It ain't happening...

Its not.

Nobody, at least nobody I know, considers the US "innocent" when it comes to Vietnam, the Civil War, the near obliteration of Native Americans, the anti-Japanese sentiments during World War II, or a lot of other matters.

Infact, I recall reading about them in history class all through elementary, middle, and high school.

I've never been told the US is always right about everything, and I lived in a very patriotic city.

I don't see how someone can spin the US getting caught off guard in WW1, but in WW2 they did get caught off guard because japan did not formally declare war on them when the pearl harbour attack occurred.

The us isn't an innocent nation, infact I'd venture to say no nation is innocent, everyone has their dark secrets. The US just happened to accumulate many of those very quickly. I'd say the UK was the worst of the worst if you look at the past I guess.

I've never experienced that. Like, ever.

I'm sure it happens in a lot of places, like Texas(Partially joking here, but seriously :| ), but where I lived, it was a pro military pro American city, and nobody here ever lied to me.

Most people I've met accept what happened, they've moved on. Every nation on Earth has its dark periods. I don't have any problem with Germans or Japanese expressing patriotism and neither does anyone else, but the second an American acts patriotic its always:

I mean that just about every hostile act towards the US is usually regarded as an act of hate towards American freedom(usually by media & of course those who buy into it,.....which is often many "patriots"). As if that alone, the idea of being a free nation, is what bothered "such & such" nation to attack the US, to catch it off guard without any warning.

Why is that the usual outlook when the truth is far from that?

Of course i dont just mean to use the arab/islamic world as an example alone, but it's the most recent part of the world which was affected by our freedom to cause an event in which we are yet again the innocent ones caught off guard or looked at as being attacked for being a free nation alone, as some mopes like to suggest.
