Actually an atomic bomb is perfect for destroying a military base or a port and rendering its infrastructure useless to the enemy. It's one bomb that does the job of many. It only takes one plane (or missile) to do the job while minimizing the risk of losing your own men. Conventional bombs miss too much. You can bomb and bomb and bomb and still not hit your target, especially with WWII era technology.

Morever, the use of conventional bombs does not necessarily cause fewer casualties than the use of atomic bombs. For example, more Japanese people died in the conventional bombing of Tokyo on 9 March 1945 than died in either of the atomic bombings later that year. Over 100,000 Japanese people were killed in the Tokyo raid of that night, while 80,000 died in the bombing of Hiroshima and at most 75,000 in the bombing of Nagasaki.

As for Brazil, ask a Uruguayian or Paraguayian if they think that Brazil is innocent, since those are countries that Brazil invaded in the past.

No country is "innocent". The nature of the state precludes any notions of innocence.

Pretty much every country on this planet has a bloody and dark history...

Because we are usually innocent (though we are not perfect either)...If any other nation had the power and oppourtunity that America has had, it would probably rule the world. Instead we bust our asses trying to free nations from tyranny and then leaving them to govern themselves. That sounds pretty nice to me. As far as the Middle East goes, most of the countries involved want us there. They want our money, our goods and services, and they have something we want (oil). Just because a small portion of religious nuts go ape **** crazy over seeing a woman's face does not mean America has committed some terrible greivance against any of these people.

If we kissed Israel's ass so much then our president wouldn't be apologizing to supposed enemies. I sympathize with a nation that can thrive when surrounded by nations that hate it, but I guess that's just my pesky American mentality. We impose because if we don't sit on them then they'd sit on us. They call the shots on the price of oil and our infrastructure would be crippled, they'd make the demands. It's like an arguement in school, the first person to back down loses and after that loss they get walked all over forever. So call us oppressive, totalitarian and obnoxious; it's nothing we haven't heard before. I'm damn proud to be an American and I wouldn't want to be anything else, nor would I want my government to put any other nation before its own people. i dont know but have to bring up the oil spill seems eveyone is to blame but those in charge ive been looking around and halliburton ,cameron international ,Transocean Ltd ,these seem to be those to blame but havnt paid much or anythink at all towards the clean up and there has been no investigation into them at all. they say america is a suing cultured nation they have just taken it to the next step of trying to sue a company based on nationality even though it is owned by 39 percent ameicans . but as the other companies are majority american they dont bother is what some are saying.
