for all those who seek population control, you have absolute power over one person... figure it out.surrealnumber5

No way. It's not me and mine that's the problem, it's other people that are the problem.

They can estimate it pretty closely, believe it or not.

It's probably closer to 3 billion.

You have reason to believe this...why?

I have a thing for numbers.

More governments in third world countries should impose a policy similar to what China did with the one child rule. Specifically nations in Africa and also India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and etc. Not only could they use this rule to decrease over population and population growth, but this could also be a source of revenue for the governments (the revenue from penalizing those who have more than 1 child).

The One Child rule in China is going to screw up the age and gender demographics so much that I see them getting rid of this policy in the near future.

I feel like the advances in science that let people live longer and have more kids are also the reason we shouldn't have too much of an issue. We'll be able to grow more food, faster and make inhospitable areas hospitable. By the time the Earth starts to overflow (which shouldn't be for a while), we'll have hopefully taken concepts to colonize Mars and the Moon to heart.

SPYDER0416

Make inhospitable areas hosptiable? sounds like environmental destruction right there, which is never a good thing for the earth's ecosystem and thus not a good thing for human beings.

So basically implement a teethless rule that "bans" people from having more than one child, yet does nothing to actively stop them from having more than one child?

[QUOTE="Pirate700"]

If the world economy continues to be garbage, I think over the years we will see decreases as more people find it not a good financial decision to have kids right now.

Johnny_Rock

You are assuming most people are smart enough to think that way. I think the opposite. When you are poor, sex is the cheapest form of entertainment. We will see birth rates (and abortion rates) skyrocket if the world economy does not improve soon.

So piracy is a good thing, hm?
