There are various clip of jesus and god doing pretty bad stuff on family guy. No christian on GS throws a hissy fit when jesus's miracles were protrayed as just bad street magic, so why this thread?

I'm a lifelong christian btw

As Theokoth said, it is forbidden to draw Phophet Muhammad's face because He feared people would worship him instead of God.

I don't know what that is, so maybe.

LJS9502_basic

Noncommittal. Meant to not offend any group.

Why would I want to do that? I already believe Islam is wrong and it's no secret. . . .for the third time, I'm looking at the situation from the point of view of an Islamic.

I was referring to the answer you gave to the question I asked of you. Not what you initially said. You seemed to be straddling a line to avoid offense. Now...you are defensive. So there is no third time.:|

Yes. For a Muslim. Not for anyone else.

Hypothetical scenario: A Muslim has a depiction of Mohammed and a Playboy magazine in their home. Which of these things would typically be more frowned upon by their Imam if they somehow came to be known about?

I wonder where the topic creator went ...

In anyways, Wikipedia is not an Islamic site, so therefore it should'nt have to abide by muslim beliefs or customs. Also as was pointed out before the picture has his face on fire (:?) so his face is not depicted. No big deal, life moves on ...

I'm also late ...

Or just don't care.

Wouldn't that seem kind of racist considering that we aren't respecting TC's beliefs?

What the hell does race have to do with beliefs?  Isn't that notion itself racist?

They'd both be heavily frowned upon, but I *think* the Muhammad picture would be considered worse.

If you are repeating yourself it's your fault. I'm not talking about your comment on Islam beliefs. I'm talking about your answer to my question. I have noticed when you pinned into a corner you either avoid answering or you accidentally/deliberately act like the topic is different. I asked one simple question to which you gave a noncommittal answer. Period. Your answer is on record and I'll take that as your thoughts on my question. No need to belabor the point by pretending we are talking about something else.:|

Your question came in response to my post that Muhammad believed Jesus was a prophet. Your question was this: "Did he believe that or create it?" To which I said both, as he wouldn't have taken so much effort out of his life to create it if he didn't believe himself to be right. You then asked if it was a PC answer. I said no, as it is no secret that I think Islam is wrong. That's IT. I haven't avoided your question or changed the subject, and I defy you to show me where I have. You question stemmed from my point that I was looking at the situation from the view of Islam, therefore that point was relevant to our discussion, period.

I guess Muhammad must be rather ugly if his face is so offensive. That's not a very nice way of treating your own prophet.

That is only because He worried that people would start worshipping him rather than God. I think that is quite respectful if you ask me.

Nope. The question was to you. I asked you a question. I did NOT ask what anyone else thought. And continuing to harp on your original post to someone else is avoiding my direct question. As I said. I have your answer on record. So this is redundant and pointless.

The history of Islam is not relevant to this discussion. Sorry.:)

Your question had to do with the history of Islam! "Did Muhammad believe that or create it?" is a bit of a historical question.

If it was Jesus then it's ok.

Making fun of Christians is ok.

Posting a picture of Muhammad not ok!

Yeah... those double standards annoy me. We should all decide to mock everyone or no one. I vote for everyone. :P

Completely different; posting pictures of Muhammed is offensive to Muslims -- the same cannot be said for Jesus and Christians. :|

I'm talking more in the general sense of the touchy-feely treatment that Islam gets. Besides... Jesus gets mocked in ways that Muhammad does not, regardless of the crap about not depicting Muhammad.

Based on the context of his post (addressing the statement that hating Muslims was the equivalent to racism) and the fact that he didn't use a comma, I'll go with my interpretation until he clarifies himself.

Theokhoth

Islam is not a race.:|

I know. . . that's what I said as well.:|

I did say, however, that hating an entire group of people constitutes the same reasoning as racism, and that fundamentally the two are not that much different from eachother. You're just born with one (race).

Don't put words in my mouth.

People seem to think that race can be equated to religion, when it is simply not true.

Somebodies race doesn't tell you anything about somebody else, apart from physical appearance, whilst, someones religion tells you their fundamental beliefs in life.

Arguing with LJS9502_basic is one of the most counterproductive things you can do on here.  I'm not saying any argument he made in this thread has any sort of subtle fallacy to it (I didn't even read them anyway), but if you gave him enough time he could probably put forth an argument over the course of many posts that the ocean is made out of Pepsi and eventually you'd just give up on the subject out of utter frustration with his insistence upon the matter.

I don't get why that would be offensive.  Regardless, Wikipedia shouldn't have to censor their pages because some people find them offensive.

Good for you Muslims. Unfortunately for you, you don't decide what everyone else decides to do with their freedom of speech. You can cry about how your fragile innocent feelings are hurt all you want though.

[QUOTE="Bloodbath_87"] Interesting...i'll be waiting for it.Bloodbath_87

I challenge God to a fight! And Muhammed. So he doesn't actually have a face...

I've challenged god to several fights, but he has yet to accept my challenge.

Maybe Muhammad will...why don't you ask him... oh wait he has no ears

[QUOTE="Theokhoth"][QUOTE="LJS9502_basic"]Islam is not a race.:|MetalGear_Ninty

I know. . . that's what I said as well.:|

Not necessarily. For example, if you had just met me and I told you I was a Christian, would you believe I was also gay ? Probably not, yet *snaps fingers* here we are!

There's also the denominational factor. Yes, you're a Christian/Muslim/Jew/whatever, but what denomination/sect/sub-group? They all believe different things.

THEN we have the issue of whether or not you're a practising xyz.

But I see your overall point.

In general though, whether you are indeed a theist, agnostic, atheist etc. and you're of a particular age and intelligence, then I still think it tells a lot about a person.

With theism, a person's whole philosophical, moral and social perspective is moulded by that one concept of 'God'. But you're right that it varies on religious denominations.

In truth, there isn't one God, but 6 billion in the mind of every human on this planet. But I suppose you wouldn't agree with that. :P
