I guess that I'd have to flip that skull around to read that part about "Oppression of Women"....

Yeah, probably.

Then you have no knowledge of the real Islam. We're studying it right now in AP History. Women really had lots of rights in the Quran, but patriarchal societies (most societies in history were patriarchal) removed rights such as suffrage, inheritance, the right to own land, and the right to have a divorce. The veil actually began long before Islam, in Mesopotamia. There, upper-cIass women covered their bodies to deter men from being attracted to them. When Islam spread to Mesopotamia centuries later, the people of that land continued their tradition. The Quran makes no mention of the hijra, so the veiling is purely up to personal preference on modesty.

Now, I'm not a Muslim, but I will not stand for blind discrimination. I feel it's unjust for people to believe such lies just because modern media has over-exaggerated the image of Islamic extremists. Every religion has extremists, and those people should not be considered a true part of whatever religion they are part of.

Check your facts next time

Edit: I thought GS fixed the "cIass" and "styIe" problems?

That's assumed knowledge.  You mean you don't beat your wives daily, just to keep them on their toes? :|

So just becasue Islam allows sex with "war" slaves, you are going to base all that BS on it?

If as per the article muhammad was what they say he was, then tell me why would all except one of his wifes be widows or divorced women? Why would his first wife be a 40 year old widow?

Folks, just as there are those who are free to not believe in any religion, there are those who SHOULD be free to believe and practise a religion.

To TC: You should gather 10k signs from users in order for wikipedia admins to take down those images.

I've recently been to Tunisia, a muslim country.

What I found particularly weird and contradictory, was the fact that although their women are covered with lots of clothes, they never cease to pick on European non-muslim females. They are really rude about that.

So enough with the hypocrisy and double standards!
