Oh yeah because Obama has made it sooo hard to speak out against him:roll:

He addressed and poked fun at the Tea Party...How lame can you get?

I'd do more than poke fun at people who are calling me a Nazi and accusing me of faking my nationality.

[QUOTE="Snipes_2"][QUOTE="Teenaged"]Ah so it is indirectly forcing them to not say anything.... riiiight.

By the same mindset, we should take all criticism or negative comments as indirect silencing of the person/people it is directed at.

But that is definitely not what we (should) do, now is it...

Teenaged

He isn't indirectly silencing them...Targeting a specific group isn't indirect. If you were receiving negative comments from the President about your viewpoints on Television would you call that indirect?

Yes if we are talking about "silencing" it is indirect at most.

Calling it direct silencing is beyond my imagination of exaggeration.

It instills fear in those opposing you...

What sort of fear? The fear of an opposing view? What if I were to label the criticism of the Tea Party as instilling fear on the president and consequently undermining or even sabotaging his efforts as a president?

Like I said, by that mindset we should label all sorts of criticism, as direct (according to you) silencing of those it is directed at.

But do we? No we dont. Why should we do that here?

The McCain rumors were dismissed quickly and never grew to the scale that the Obama ones did, simply because people actually accepted the evidence in McCain's case, which basically all birthers do not do in the case of Obama.

I missed most of the discussion, but I hope you're not implying this as limiting one's freedom of speech because in this case, anyone throughout history with an unpopular opinion would have had their freedom of speech denied.

This was by a small fringe group that exists on every side.. The tea party on the other hand is a growing group that may actually win some seats in office, and the Republicans are seriously debating going down that path..

I haven't heard anything about Obamas birth since the Election...

Actually it was talked about constantly beyond the election.. Even when a birth certificate was provided.. My statement was more directed at a overarching theme towards Obama in which a splinter group that is risking to overrun the Republican party is so openly hostile towards Obama.. To the point they are willling to compare him to the likes of Stalin for supposedly being Socialist (when he is not).. There is a great many deal you can be critical towards Obama (I know I have quite a few criticisms), but the Tea Party rarely has touched upon them nor has little clue whats going on.. For instance the Tea party was all created about supposedly raising taxes.. Taxes havn't raised, they are infact one of the lowest periods of all time.. Then contridicting their views in lowering teh debt they wish to keep a big military and continue wars in the Middle East.. That if you take in projected costs of both wars right now.. It dwarfs just about any other single thing on the list..

There were groups comparing Bush to Hitler...I haven't seen any tea party members talking on the news or anything comparing him to Stalin or Hitler If one or two people did that's not representative of the entire Party. The Tea Party was created for Taxes...when there was talk of Obama raising them and when Bills were proposed that would raise them and Taxes have gone up since then.

A) Bush's tax cuts don't fade out for another few years.. Taxes are goingt o have to raise one way or the other.. The Tea party said it was instantous..

B) We have already had threads where local tea party groups posted comparable things on billboards.. These are not fringe groups like every otehr, these are people that identify and are signed to the Tea party..

[QUOTE="Snipes_2"] It instills fear in those opposing you...Snipes_2

What sort of fear? The fear of an opposing view? What if I were to label the criticism of the Tea Party as instilling fear on the president and consequently undermining or even sabotaging his efforts as a president?

Like I said, by that mindset we should label all sorts of criticism, as direct (according to you) silencing of those it is directed at.

But do we? No we dont. Why should we do that here?

1. It's not sabotaging or undermining anything... 2. A President targeting a specific group that opposes his views? That's not like you or I criticizing someone.

1. Just as a president speaking out against someone isnt silencing them.

2. This is ridiculous. In the end, you only find your labels reasonable but when I apply the equivalent labels the other way around using your own logic you simply deny them and just reiterate your view. I dont think theres much to discuss here.

The difference between me and you, and the president would be considerable if the presidents different position had a practical different effect when he criticises someone

When a president criticises some people, are those people threatened by means of violence?

Do you believe the president exudes so much fear as a political persona that everyone gets scared when he comments about them?

Again, why should we compare the reactions of one president to the reactions of another?

Why is not responding to insults (Bush) better than responding to them (Obama)?

I agree with him but if Obama ever even get's these emails, I doubt it will mean anything to him. He probably receives thousands of hate letters a day just like any president.

Sadly, this is most likely the situation... I agree with him completely though. Our president cares more about his religious views than taking care of our country.

He is his own religion. He's already developed a cult of personality around himself. Just look at all the fanatics on here alone who worship the water he walks on.

I have not seen anyone here being fanatic about Obama.

I have seen the exact opposite though. People bashing Obama for the most stupid of things.

He is his own religion. He's already developed a cult of personality around himself. Just look at all the fanatics on here alone who worship the water he walks on.

I have not seen anyone here being fanatic about Obama.

I have seen the exact opposite though. People bashing Obama for the most stupid of things.

Praise be Obama... But seriously the only recent time I saw any one coming close to that claim was that one crazy interview.. IN Bible Belt America before a McCain rally in which people claimed both McCain and Palin had the holy spirit in them.

Was that the same rally where that guy said he saw 666 in the eyes of Obama and started quoting Revelation? Oh wait nevermind I saw that on that Right America: Feeling Wronged documentary.

Kind of like when Bush was in office.

Probably not. The White House receives a good amount of personal letters each day. If I recall correctly, there is a group of people who sit and read through them all and only a few get sent on to the President. Then again Im not sure.

everyone has opinions. not everyone has been given the truth. a matter of fact, 99% have been fed lies and that's how it's always been.

I agree with him but if Obama ever even get's these emails, I doubt it will mean anything to him. He probably receives thousands of hate letters a day just like any president.

Obama-ism probably has better metaphysics than most religions, on the bright side. Anyway, wut? He doesn't have his own religion. He doesn't sell himself as a deity, or a prophet or a superhuman. He doesn't have any sort of practices, rituals, traditions that others observe religiously. I seriously doubt anyone sees him as responsible or partially response for the existence of human beings or giving purpose to life either. He has? I've never seen the American mass media manipulated by the American executive to present an absolutely unwavering and unquestionable heroic image of Obama. Infact, I'd say the opposite, he gets his fair share of free-spoken criticism (rightly) from sections of the mass media. I think you could make a case that he tends to be charismatic and that a lot of people are drawn in by that, but that doesn't constitute a "cult of personality", otherwise the logic would pretty much lead to anyone with fans having a "cult of personality". Well, if you're using anecdotal evidence, then my personal perception is that he has a lot of fanatical haters as well as supporters (who do not worship him per se, but would defend him where the none-partisan would stop) on this very board. Anyway, I invoke Poe's Law on thou.

What does it mean to "act like an American"? How is an American suppose to act?

I have much respect for the man for serving, but most of his criticisms seem way off base.

-Sun_Tzu-

You do realize that Obama is the only President to ever to bow to anyone anywhere, not even Nixon bowed to the Chinese back in the 70s. Where is Michelle Obama while he is visiting Arab heads of state? She is the first First Lady to not be included in tours of Arab countries. The Navy vet isn't off base, he can see it, even if he can't personally write about it.

He is? That's news to me.

A small head bow is not the same thing as bowing all the way down at the waist.

Not what Sun_Tzu is responding to, he's clearly highlighted the false statement and proven his case by showing that other Presidents have bowed before someone, somewhere.

That's being a bit picky isn't it. Does that mean we have to call into question the degree ones body must be bent to constitute a bow?

No, it does matter. If I shook your hand and made a little head nod, then that isn't weird at all. A lot of people do it as a show of respect. But if I shook your hand and then proceeded to bow down at the waist where I am now looking down at your feet, then you would say wtf.. why are you bowing to me? It is completely different body language.

So then tell me... if I shook your hand and gave a little head bow, then that would be pretty normal, right? Now what if I shook your hand and then bowed all the way down at the waist to where my torso was parallel with the ground. That's a bit different, no?

Of course I would be a bit perplexed since I am neither royalty nor a foreign diplomat/leader who is shown respect via a bow.
