right on! Plus, gays don't push people to be gayyy, a lot of christians push their religion on people (not all)
Lots of gay ppl are cool and lots of Christians are cool. It all depends on what kind of PERSON you want to be. It's almost like being gay is the opposoite of christian. I wonder how many gay christians there are.

The issue is that it seems all "Christians" and their "morals" are all jumbled. I haven't met two Christians that believe the exact same stuff.. I don't believe that Christians should be against homosexuality whatsoever because (correct me if I am wrong, I am no theist) Jesus never spoke against Christianity in his sermons.
No offense to the christians you know, but if they dont believe the same stuff, they probably arent true christians. Of course the term christian nowdays is so misconstrued its ridiculous...Anyone can be a "christian," but not everyone is a follower of God. Ive been going to a church of about 400 for a long while and we are God followers. We are not the fake "christians" that make everyone mad by being hypocrites...we believe the same stuff because we follow what the Bible says, and what god says. Not what we hear, what other people tell us, or what we think is right or wrong. Just to set the record straight....(no pun intended)....homosexuality is treated the same way in the NT as premarital sex is.[QUOTE="_en1gma_"][QUOTE="Zorn_Ate_Thorn"]

Various parts of the bible can be interpreted in more that one way, particularly if the interpreter is not educated correctly as far as biblical history goes. Of course, there are things I believe all Christians should agree upon (God, Jesus, 10 Commandments, Moses, Resurrection, etc.) However, the bible is hard to read and even harder to interpret. So far all you know you, and your church of anout 400, could have interpreted a passage wrong and collectively be 400 people led astray by a mistake. It takes training and a lifetime to truly understand God's Word, not to be preachy. But you have contradicted yourself on one point though without knowing it. So basically, your beliefs are his/her beliefs and if he is wrong at any point than your entire congregation is wrong, but no one will probably ever know without doing the leg work themselves. There are not a ton of Christians who do the leg work of understanding the Word.
I honestly believe only a handful of Christians in the world can accurately interpret the bible for meaning. Unfortunately, I, nor you, are one of them.

that's just as bad as his father's reaction..... :| .....while your dad's reaction was poor you have to cut him some slack....like many said it was a different generation then.....trying to judge others on today's value structure is futile and unfair....That was definitely immature of him. wow that quote disgusts me. That's because it has been taken out of context. Within the same passage, it says not to have sex with your neighbour's wife, your mother, your sister, your daughter, and so on. Basically, it's saying doing "it" with anyone other than your own wife is a sin. It's quite normal to feel disgust and revulsion at the sight of something unnatural - an Abomination...67gt500

That's fine, but just ponder this:
If it was a racist or anti-gay stereotype you'd just popped off, how long do you think it would be before you got a day off? Tolerance at work, bro.
A racial or anti-gay stereotype being pointed out IS more harmful than associating Christianity with being Anti-homosexual, because guess what? It is. Also, it's not against homosexuality per se; rather, homosexual acts. And it should be common knowledge that the majority of homosexual acts are directly attributed to homosexuality, few people are just curious, that its just the nature of their desires, and any consensual sexual act should be private business of the people involved only.harashawn
So the other day I rented the movie Milk. It won numerous Academy awards and it starred two of my favorite actors, Sean Penn and James Franco. Well that night I popped it into the blue-ray player and started watching it. My Dad decided to watch the movie with me and I knew he was not going to like it. Within 5 minutes of the movie begining he made me turn it off because of the first gay kiss scene. He then went on to say that he "did not want to see that garbage" and that "there is something wrong with gay people" and that "it should be illegal to be gay and "Milk is not a real movie, its a gay porno" and finally he told me "I should not expose the family to this filth". (By the way I am not homosexual).
So what are your thoughts on my Dad's reaction? I knew that he did not like gay people, but I had no idea he had that much hatred towards them.

i'm surprised that you posted thisto GS. that's your dad, and now you have opened a whole can of trash talk about your father and his views/ opinions. if you don't feel the same as your father then kudos to you, but you should still respect your fathers wishes while you are living in his house.

if his dad new his kid was watching a movie with guys making out (why would he want to watch it *alone* :| ) he'd probaly kick him out, i would.[QUOTE="hughami"][QUOTE="Treflis"]Ironically the movie takes up that issue really and shows how a Homosexual US politican fought for Homosexuals rights despite the opposition from the Homophobes and Religion. I'd say watch some time you're alone at home, You dad has his opinions and while you should acknowledge it no matter how odd or "cruel" they are, But you don't need to agree. Also watching it when you're alone doesn't expose the rest of the family with it like he doesn't want it too.SEANMCAD
with some of these responses I am very honestly trying to get my head around people have childern in the first place.
Everyone seems to be approaching it as if the kid is a roomate in a house paying rent. Which, if true, I have to ask why not get a roomate instead of a child?
So because I'm his son I get no rights or say on what goes on in his house? That doesn't seem fair.
