Everyone I know who I have an opinion that I can generally agree on seem to be gushing over the TSW.
I will be really disappointed if the game doesnt arrive in the mail today.

Patience is a virtue ;)
Hope u enjoy it Maroxad, I'm sure you will. Remember it's all about story-telling, atmosphere and good graphics. Combat is also fun and end-game will be improved over the coming weeks.

LOL, I basically need to PLAY MORE.
I've only got 4-5 hours, then my work schedule took over. I haven't even started a game in the past week. This weekend I'm gonna do some serious TSW gaming :)
PS: PvP in an MMO never really interested me anyway...I'm all about PvE.
So, I made a thread that has over 800 views now, regarding a sound/audio bug. About to use Youtube for the first time to upload a video. Yay me.. I love TSW, but the only way this game will survive is exceptional customer and tech support. These bugs really need to be ironed out asap. Some of them were/are near game-breaking, at least for me and some people. Well, that's the bad news.
Good news is, they responded to my post (two different employees, one is a GM?). I'm going to upload a Youtube video of this sound bug. Hopefully, this will lead to 500+ happier customers. But to be honest, they need to do more about their support team. They did not seem eager at all in helping. IF I was the GM, I would be on it, like ants on a sugar hill. They sounded really nonchalant, like it wasn't a big deal. I think some of the support team employees are just floating around at work.
Point being, I already responded to them that I had the audio file ready to upload and post an attachment, but apparently, attaching files on the forums is disabled... this after the GM telling me to attach the file... Well, enable file attachment FOO!
So, I'm not about to go out like that. Gonna upload on Youtube and get this **** out of my way and out of head. And then there's the high chance they won't be able to duplicate the sound bug.. and this will never be fixed. I love TSW, but there's always GW2. That was hard for me to say...sad.

I've spoken to technical support twice on Live Chat and they were very helpful. Maybe the guy you got was just cranky or at the end of his shift..? lol.
As for bugs, every MMO has them in the first month. They just need to fix them as they go. Remember, to you it might be a bug right in front of your eyes that needs to be fixed yesterday, but for the devs it's another bug on the list to fix.... where they have a system of tickets they go through.
Why is it game-breaking? Till this day (9 years later) WoW has sound bugs. Sorry to say but you sound a big childish bringing the whole game down just because of one bug and saying you'll move onto GW2 (as if GW2 won't have bugs). At least give them a chance to fix it and some time to do it.

Childish? I'm not bringing the whole game down. I'm bring down their customer support. If anything I have been a big supporter of the game, but I'm not going to be all la-dee-da if I see negative things where i see it. I'm offended.
Where did I say the game itself was bad? I'm clearly addressing the customer support here, with their missteps. I don't think you have any right to call anyone childish in this case, just because I"m not super-happy with everything about Funcom. It just sounds like you're getting angry at me because you don't share the same issues I have with TSW, but because I said something bad about TSW and Funcom, it's hurting your feelings. That sounds more childish to me.
So just keep playing with a nasty, loud, sound bug that loops into your sound system, headphones, every 20 seconds.. and just ignore it like nothing is happening? You wouldn't call that game-breaking? That's game-breaking. That's player experience, game-breaking. But you don't have this issue so the world is perfect. The sky is blue and everyone is happy.
How do you wait for something like this to get fixed? Let alone addressed, investigated, and a possible fix? I'm not going to sit around and wait. The only thing I CAN DO, is unsubscribe. You never thought... hey Elann is one of the more sensible guys on Gamespot... if he's complaining about something of this nature.. it's pretty important.. But no, Felipe.. you've stooped pretty low.. I'm more disappointed than offended at this point. But reading back through this thread. I'm not surprised any more.

Just the way you worded that "well, there's always GW2" sounded like you felt like giving up on TSW. I might have read it wrong, sorry if so.
I just didn't know what the bug was so I was asking.

Yeah I know I know. You're a good guy. I'm at least smart enough to figure that out. But you must understand. I.am.pissed. But here is my thread with over 900 views now, only 4 pages, but most posts suggest the same issues that I am having on different levels. Mind you, this is probably my first major issue with a game, let alone an MMO period. That I had to rally myself to create a thread and really get at the customer support tech guys to hear me out. Luckily, they are better than most crappy customer supports. They at least respond, but the rest is up in the air.
Here is the Funcom forum support thread: TSW sound bug. My main concern is to bring this sound bug to the attention of Funcom tech department. Many people are experiencing this and I saw no thread created on it and no one acted up on it, not even so much upload the file or send it to Funcom support.
After a HUGE post I made at work, half of it was a major rant, with reasonable and valid opinions and facts, I finally got their attention once again. Mind you, they never respond to me this late at night. So they gave me another option to send the audio file via email, I can't share with anyone. So maybe, maybe.... they will start to work on it. Let's hope...
As for the GW2 comment, that was a serious comment. I pre-ordered GW2 collector's edition long before the thought came over me to buy The Secret World. And as I've told you several times, I won't be canceling it because of the goodies packed with it. I will still try the game out, of course, but there is no subscription, so why not? In a furious, pissed off kinda way, I intended it to be a cheap stab... but no way am I quitting on TSW, but I may have to return at a later date.... which was why I said it was "sad." Because honestly, truly, this game was crafted, developed, and made for me. I always meant that genuinely, but I will not tolerate game-breaking negatives.
id try it if it was f2p its really interesting but, a game's got to be pretty mind-blowing for me to pay a monthly fee.SaintJimmmyWait for the Free Trial to give it a go. And if it goes F2P, definitely give it a shot.
Most of us are on Arcadia. Don't worry about RP, nobody Role plays on it anyway. There is a special channel for it.So I finally got the game...
I installed it and then registered my account. Now, what server to choose? Choices, choices.

I'm about to jump into the game for the second night. I will say this....after throwing some much @#$% in your face about it I would say that this game might be worth trying if you don't mind spending money. Still, it's very much a niche based MMORPG. I will say this..........................the atmosphere is pretty much why I have enjoyed it so far. Although some of female character models(faces) look so manly or ugly I just start laughing. Like..I could cut my finger on a chin.
I made my home dimension Daemon. First real quest I do involves jumping on cars to lure zombies...
Game reminds me quite a bit of the first mmo I really liked (with quests requiring some thinking, and the lack of linear levellin) and Guild Wars 2 (with active dodging, and whatnot).
So much fun :D
I remember people complaining in CoH about the lack of an "end game" and my thought was always, I'd rather have no "end game" than what passes for an "end game" these days. Running the same raid over and over and over and over to get a slightly better "pixel of doom" just seems so dull and pointless. I hate daily quests, too. I've never understood, or been a fan of the hamster wheel, carrot-on-a-stick, approach to MMORPGs.-wildflower-
City of Heroes' high levels (end-game) was spent for me in Peregrine Isles (sp?). The area hooked up with tons of high level task forces in an organic/IMMERSIVE way that felt like you weren't just camping for a PUG to grind for loot. City of Heroes was great. I miss it.
Glad you guys are enjoying TSW. Blue Mountain area is by far my most favorite. Love the characters there... excellent writing, and perhaps the most interesting by far. I just finished The Darkness War dungeon and the main boss was nothing short of spectacular. Bugs aside, I might have been harsh, but this game rules in every other department. Elann2008
Kinda like my experience with the game: Buggy, but brilliant.
*Takes a short break after having played the game for aroudn 5 hours today.
I could not even get the beta to work for me, which in itself left a pretty bad taste in my mouth. Tis a shame, I was really interested in trying this out. Went with D3 instead. Needed something to hold me over until GW2 comes out and completely destroys my social life. When I played the beta it was awful. Really awful. The atmosphere was the only thing that was remotley good about it. Everything else especially the combat, sucked.

Lenyst here, add me if you want but good luck seeing me online lately.... WORK IS F**** CRAZY !!!I played it for quite a while now, and I would say it is quite a well made game, but as good as it is, the combat in this game is downright atrocious. Which is a big flaw because combat is a big part of this game.
Anyway, I like the investigation quests a lot, and I like the fact that players dont have to share the party so they both get credit for named kills and event clears. I also like how the game doesnt use a class system like a lot of mmos do. And lastly I like how you dont scale like hell, going from 60 hp to 100000 hp like you do in certain others.
That said, the combat is such a big part of the game and it is a shame that it sucks so much. But even with horrible combat I still like the game a bit and even though I am far from done, the game has been worth the money spent already. So far my experience is a 7/10.
Funcom isn't such a bad company, I mean, not worse than what's out there. I remember anarchy online having an awesome atmosphere but at the same time feeling empty. Weird. Maybe because AO was my first MMO ever.ciorlandenisI think Funcom's a great company. I just wish they had stuck to expanding The Longest Journey franchise like they said they were going to do instead of focusing on an MMO. Something it has in common with Bioware and the KOTOR series.
Lots of people say the combat has been vastly improved from the Betas (yes, it was even worse back then). So who knows? Maybe they will keep on improving it, optimizing it, tweaking it and it will get to a good stage.I played it for quite a while now, and I would say it is quite a well made game, but as good as it is, the combat in this game is downright atrocious. My issue with the combat atm is that skills lack oomph and enemies and players alike take too long to kill, especially after playing the Guild Wars 2 beta. Shotguns dont feel powerful at all, neither do hammers.
But who knows, maybe if I get some of those PvP dps talismans fights should be over quicker. I still dont know if that will be enough though.
Reinstalled it to try it out again since GW2 beta is over... I honestly can't find any redeeming factor... Gameplay is boring and irritating. Performance is horrible, jumps from 30 to 120fps, very annoying. I don't know, I didn't progress through the story that far, but not motivated with the bad combat and bad performance... Visually it's alright, i'm not a graphics whore, but with the performance I'm getting, not worth it. Even on low I'm getting bad performance. Not to mention I'm still on my small monitor (1440x900 res). The most stupidest thing ever that got me irritated was that there's no auto-attack... And since I was using Pistols, combat consisted of running around backwards in circles and press 1 over and over and over... Is melee this bad too? What weapon setups are you guys using that's supposedly fun...?trastamad03
Performance is bad on some machines using DX11. Try changing it to DX9 and game runs smooth as butter, while looking basically the same.
As for combat, there is no auto attack cause it tries to be dynamic real time, even though it has hotkeys. I like being able to instantly switch between my shotgun and blade on the fly just by pressing different hotkeys.
But yes, like other have said, combat is where the devs need to optimize and tweak. I personally enjoy the atmosphere, lore and story more than the combat most of the time anyway.
I really like the combat. It's unique. It's not perfect, but I'm still having a ton of fun. I'm playing on DX11 again, turned off tessellation, SSAO high, and in advanced settings, I set some to "3" and not 4. That seemed to do it. It's running a lot better. Getting anywhere from 50-60fps now. Drivers 301.42.
I love Blades. Blades/Chaos or Blades/Pistols just for fun. There's still so much to do, and I'm in no way bored yet. Just started my third character, a Dragon (one for each faction). But I'm focusing on my AR+Blood (necromancer) guy. Will experiment with other deck builds as I gather more SP AND AP.
What some people do not know is that it's important that you spend your SP points in minor, major talismans first. Minor, Major, and then Head. Weapons, put enough so you could use the weapon but nothing else.
Now, Funcom just needs to iron out the bugs. The game is great. I'll still give Guild Wars 2 a shot, but I don't think it will hold my interest very long. I'll be playing mostly TSW. I don't even play SP games any more lol.

With me it was the other way around, I was tired of the same old fantasy MMO formula so the modern era was a welcomed change.
Since you are looking for SciFi MMOs, I would suggest SWTOR, but I believe you might have played it.?

Problem I am having is that the atmosphere in this game isnt particulary good either. I just couldnt get immersed with enemies that take 20-30 hits to kill you, awful animations, lack of penalty for dying, bugs and stagnant world.
In fact, I would argue that writing and the investigation quests are the only thing this game has going for it. I really don't see why they made it an mmo, because it is a terrible mmo. Should have been an adventure game.
Ya, I switched to DX9 and getting high/constant fps. It's such a shame that the combat is so poorly executed... Weapon switching on the fly can still work with Auto-attack. The atmosphere didn't captivate me that much, i don't know, I'm kinda tired of the modern era / medieval era... We need proper futuristic/sci-fi MMOs...[QUOTE="trastamad03"][QUOTE="FelipeInside"]

Well that explains why you can't get into it, you are tired of Modern Era and want futuristic MMOs.
With me it was the other way around, I was tired of the same old fantasy MMO formula so the modern era was a welcomed change.
Since you are looking for SciFi MMOs, I would suggest SWTOR, but I believe you might have played it.?
Ya, I used to play it, stopped not to long ago.[QUOTE="FelipeInside"]
[QUOTE="trastamad03"]Reinstalled it to try it out again since GW2 beta is over... What weapon setups are you guys using that's supposedly fun...?Maroxad

I guess that depends on each person. To me the atmosphere, graphics and story-telling is very immersive. I agree the combat and animations are not top notch, but very few MMOs have great animations.[QUOTE="Maroxad"][QUOTE="FelipeInside"]

They just feel forced, and are nowhere near as well implemented as those in Guild Wars 2 (which is better in nearly every aspect).
