Yes, we know it'll never be as cool and awesome as WoW, but then again nothing could EVER be as cool as WoW. ;)
Um i wanan play guild wars. Which Guild wars should i buy? And what order should i play them in? And if i can only buy or 2, whats the order of "importance" for the 4 of em.RedxSniper
Lets see...it goes in this order, but I'll let you decide the importance.
----Standalone---You can buy either one to start out with---
---Expansion---You will need to buy 1 of those 3 above.

lol...You were lucky you didn't get the full wrath of The Force when I was at my peak.I was thinking about maybe trying Guild Wars out again, but I really wanna join a guild that is interactive, a guild that will quest with me so i'm not bored with the NPC, a guild that does guild events a guild that does PVP so on and so on. Anyone out there a leader or in a guild that does that stuff?
Loving the New editions to Guild Wars. I already payed money for the makeover of my character, and even though it was 10 dollars, It was worth it considering they gave me Five coins for it, but i think they should have made the coins into an in-game item so you could trade them also, not just buy them outside of game so that people who have worked hard in the game can be rewarded in some sort of way, but maybe thats a bad idea. Even though i find buying new Storage slots wierd, the pricing is decent, but should be lowered slightly to maybe 6.99 or 5.99. I personally barely use any of my storage slots, but maybe thats because im always poor.

Did anyone log into GW and find all your characters looking different???
They had the correct armor but everything else was random. Luckily I noticed once you select a character and log out, the character is restored. I was a littled worried at first, guess I'm going to have to do that 9 more times. :)

When you enter hte log in page, to ther ight they tell you that. And dont forget to get your 4th anniversy free storage slot!
I logged in and noticed my character was african american, loading up reset him to caucasian :P Ok so here is where I am, I have played prohphecies a LOT, enjoyed the coop PvE a LOT, I don't really like pvp that much but like to have it there as an option to mess about with sometimes maybe even guild up and do guild battles (enjoyed this more than random pvps) I just ordered eye of the north, but my question is about factions or nightfall. Are they related to the story at all? Nightfall looks to be the one for me, since it's PvE. Does Factions have enough PvE and is it worth checking out? I wouldn't mind checking out the other character classes also. Trilogy is like $50, and the nightfall and factions are $30 each so it might be worth just picking them both up. If I already have guild wars, Does the trilogy through anet give me 3 keys? If so I can make another account or something?nutcrackr
I have factions and the pve is very long, but it does not follow prophecies (anyways i dont think so), an im having fun playing it. I cant say if its better than nightfall though. but the guild battles (allaince battles) are alot of fun, but they are also available in nightfall. Its mainlay the same game with different stories and different new classes.
You can make three accounts if you want but i think its better to put them in the same account so you can take characters from one campaign and use them in other campagns. You get more char. slots too...
yeah pretty much, but there are some skills that are only in factions, some that are only in nightfall, etc. But there are heros in factions that you can only get if you have nightfall.
With GW2 in the way, and there arent that many ppl playing in the more advanced pve levels, I dont think its worth getting all three. I only have factions and was thinking of getting nightfall, but i dont think i will, plus there was the orange box for 10$ on steam, so im going to be spending more time on that!
Well this is my first gaming computer. I have Crysis Warhead + Wars, Beat POrtal, The other games in Orange box, Css and Hawx to play with... So It all depends on how much longer till GW2 comes out.RedxSniper
GW2 probably wont be out until 2010, early 2010 if we are lucky.

Just a reminder that this ends May 31st! I had issues getting it to work in regards to link my ncsoft account with my Guild Wars account, but ncsoft got me through it. I had to reset my ncsoft accoount since I hadn't used it in like forever.

Just tried this. Worked great! Thanks.
Has there been any news regarding GW 2? Any screenshots or something more solid than concept art?
in my opinion there still is a long time till guild wars 2, there aren't even any screenshots yet, probably will be mid of 2010 or late 2010, and even then I'm pretty sure that there will be enough people who will still play the original guild wars, saying not to get some of the campaigns just because of guild wars 2 is stupid. but guild wars 2 seems like its going to be awesome :P I'm just afraid they'll make it a really time consuming game like WoW, since there will be a high level cap and such
And I still can't believe they haven't given us anything gw2 related yet! Oh well.I was really, really, really, really, really hoping that was why you bumped this thread.GPAddict
Anyway, I'm SO glad they finally removed the need to keep Charm Animal equipped, even if it's only for PvE. I always thought the way they implemented that was terribly sloppy. Actually, I had specifically suggested on the Wiki once that Charm Animal and a pet revive skill should be rolled up into one, so it's interesting to see that is exactly what they did. :P

I'm really, really, really, really sorry. I blame the crappy economy for this! :)
Oh man, I want to hear info about GW2 more than anyone. I also cant wait to play it (along with Diablo 3). But the earliest we COULD hear something is at PAX in Sept.
But I will bet they'll wait until after PAX but before the end of the year to show off something. They dont want to compete for attention with AION since they have the same publisher....

Your luck, I will be going to PAX from the 4th thru the 6th of September courtesy of Intel. Don't worry I'm bringing my digital camera and I will be taking lots of pics! :)

Just out of curiosity, why can't you ever just make new threads about Guild Wars topics anyway? I mean, come on, this thread is three years old. I think you just want to see how long you can keep it going.[QUOTE="GPAddict"][QUOTE="londonsesquire"]

I think you just want to see how long you can keep it going.I would much rather prefer this so we dont have 15 different threads asking different questions in the 'PC and Mac Games' section. This gives the person a higher chance to have a questioned answered by experienced gw players rather than just creating a 'normal' thread.

ArenaNet President of product development Jeff Strain parts amicably with South Korean MMOG company; marketing VP David Reid also out.
In late 2008, NCsoft underwent significant corporate restructuring in a bid to realign the massively multiplayer online-focused company under its Western and Eastern-focused markets. Now, two executives chosen to lead NCsoft's Western arm--Jeff Strain and David Reid--have parted ways with the South Korea-based game maker.
"NCsoft West announces the departure of Jeff Strain, president of product development, who has chosen to leave NCsoft under amicable terms and NCsoft wishes him the best in his new endeavor," NC West confirmed in a statement issued to GameSpot. Strain is perhaps best known as a cofounder of Guild Wars creator ArenaNet, which NCsoft purchased in 2003.
The publisher noted that Strain's departure will not adversely impact the launch of its latest MMORPG Aion, which is expected to go online in North America on September 22 and Europe on September 25. "These changes do not influence any other teams, development schedules or other launches," NC West went on to say.
NC West underscored that Strain's and Reid's departures were unrelated to each other. "In an unrelated and separate event, David Reid is no longer with the company," NC West said in a second statement. "David joined NCsoft in early 2008 as vice president of marketing and helped in the formation of NCsoft West and the relocation of our headquarters to Seattle. David brought passion and talent to our organization, and he will be missed."
In addition to Guild Wars and Aion, NCsoft is known for its work on the Lineage franchise, which is popular in Asia, as well as the Western-focused City of Heroes MMOG. NCsoft has a number of other projects in development, including ArenaNet's Guild Wars 2 and Carbine Studios' as-yet-unnamed MMOG.
NCsoft shut down its sci-fi MMOG Tabula Rasa in February, following the departure of lead designer and private space-exploration pioneer Richard Garriott in November 2008. Garriott sued NCsoft for $24 million in May, charging the publisher with breach of contract and fraud over his ousting.
Not sure what this means for Guild Wars 2, guess we will have to wait and see...
Its decided then i will be getting Guild Wars this weekend just one more thing should i get the Trilogy pack or Platinum one ? As i understand the Trilogy has original Guild Wars + Nightfall and Factions but there is no Eye of the north as Platinum there is Guild Wars + Eye of the north not sure which one should i get ...
Personally, I'd recommend getting the trilogy first. There's just more variety there than what you get with EotN. EotN is also harder than Factions and Nightfall (but maybe not Prophecies) to some extent. If you do get the trilogy, I'd suggest playing through at least some of Nightfall first so that you will have heroes rather than just having to rely on crappy normal henchmen when playing alone. (You can take your heroes from Nightfall to the earlier campaigns.)Its decided then i will be getting Guild Wars this weekend just one more thing should i get the Trilogy pack or Platinum one ? See, you love my Megathread, don't try to deny it! :)
Oh and I concur, trilogy would be the better choice.
Just like to say that a Guild Wars 2 trailer has been submitted to USK for rating for Gamescom in a weeks time so it looks certain that a trailer will be shown off but I'm thinking it's going to be a teaser as it's been given a 6+ rating.
