Bu..bu..bu..the 4 hours singleplayer campaign! The decent multiplayer! The slightly-updated graphics from 2004! How isn't it the best game ever.

Oh bioshock, maybe overrated, it's not as deep as it could have been but one point I'd like to make is that bioshock is most certainly a step in the right direction, dynamic gameplay, choice, npc interaction etc. COD 4 however is not where we want to be in 5 years, what can you do to COD 4, have more chopper rides. Make somebody else die another way, this time during a terrorist attack or something? Bioshock gets points only because it's a step toward the holy grail.

I don't think it's the second best game ever made but the label of overrated seems to be a bit of an overstatement. Call of Duty 4 was a great addition to the PC platform. The penetration of Cod4 was fascinating especially considering it was multiplatform and yet did alot of things well to satisfy fans of the FPS genre. Call of Duty 4 may not have been the greatest first person shooter of all time but it is certainly one of them and no individual being can deny that.

I don't think it's the second best game ever made but the label of overrated seems to be a bit of an overstatement. Call of Duty 4 was a great addition to the PC platform. I think it is a very polished and professionally made game, one that is deserving of more credit than it gets around here.

Honestly, I think I got ripped off from buying COD 4. The plot seemed pointless, the multiplayer seemed pointless. Even with all the new gameplay features it still felt like the last 2-3 COD games I've played but tiring. singleplayer was alright though.

Anyways, most overrated? That'd have to be Oblivion imo. Very good game, but due to the bugs in the original release, I wouldnt hand it out anything more than 8.8.

I don't think it's the second best game ever made but the label of overrated seems to be a bit of an overstatement. Call of Duty 4 was a great addition to the PC platform. The penetration of Cod4 was fascinating especially considering it was multiplatform and yet did alot of things well to satisfy fans of the FPS genre. Call of Duty 4 may not have been the greatest first person shooter of all time but it is certainly one of them and no individual being can deny that.

Oh and I hope you don't think it's 3rd best, either. :roll:

I think a lot of people here are just saying that because it was released on console as well.

Also Lonelynight, if you have been on the SW forums, you should see that even console fanboys think the game is overrated.

That's 'cause console fanboys have no brains. Pop-in-the-disc and play. Really complex procedure, eh?

I never understood these threads, they just seem so pointless. One person says a game is overrated, then another person says it's not, then someone says it is and we just end creating huge quote pyramids which don't solve anything. (BTW HL2 is not overrated)

That doesn't make you any less of a fanboy. My statement was directed at console fanboys only and you probably found it offensive. Which indirectly makes you a console fanboy or a console fan at least. Simple logic.:P

Oblivion and CoD4, I have been playing pc games for well over a decade.. And these games are simply put not worth the ratings they are given.. Oblivion I can't even consider to be a rpg, and it is the poster child of devs DUMBING DOWN games.. CoD4 has me confused.. I remember people talking about that shooters had to have some freedom to them all the time before this game released.. Then it was released and numerous people are like "omgz".. It isn't that good of a game in my opinion single player wise.. The gun mechanics are alright, the enemy AI is retarded where you will kill 16 guys all running to the exact same cover they were at.. Endlessly respawning enemies intill you pass a certain point, the INABILITY to open doors, the game just isn't linear its linear to the extreme where a picket fence blocks your path, and that barrels are cemented to the ground and impervious to any damage.. The list just goes on.. The multiplyaer is alright but it certainly isn't the best to the numerous great fps multiplayers out there.. The story is nothing special either, just your typical Tom Clancy spheel, with all your typical today's bad guys..
