This game is running horribly. I know I only have a GT220, but my monitor is 1440x900, and I can run Crysis and Warhead on a mix of medium-max settings and get 40+fps. I can't get more than 31 with gamer, even with overclocking my GPU. Is AA enabled no matter what? That killed my FPS in Crysis, and turning it off is what gave me great performance, and I think that's the case here.

Crypt_mx

You understand that the GT 220 is a giant peice of crap right? what the hell did you expect?

Yes I know, but then why did Crysis run so much nicer?

Pretty fun so far, better than I expected. Runs pretty well too: Hardcore settings, forced 4xEQ AA/16x AF gets about 50 FPS average on Pier and 60 FPS average on Skyline, with no dips below about 40. Of course this is all in DX9 mode; if the full version actually has DX11 with tesselation that could be another story.

The gun is still horridly oversized anyways...

Well... BFBC2 gun is oversized as well. I never had an issue with BC2.

Yes I know, but then why did Crysis run so much nicer?

At what settings?

Mid-max(textures max, shadows mid, blur low, postprocessing high, shaders mid, can't remember the rest), no visual tweaks, 1440x900, AA off(this is probably my issue, I think it's on.)

Hmm, not bad, but I can max it though I still need to OC my cpu up to 3.4ghz(from 3.1ghz) at least(I normally do 20-40 at 1600x900-1920x1080) and it's on DX10.

I finally had a chance to play a couple of rounds in Crysis 2 MP demo. I cannot judge a game that has always been about the single player experience, on an MP demo. I don't like the changes to how the energy works. I'm still confused how it works but I'll learn in time. The lack of recoil is sickening..to say the least. And my character feels so stiff, as you've seen how the characters in videos. As for the graphics, I'm not impressed at all. I played on Hardcore settings and I was getting probably 50fps or so, but there were jaggies everywhere due to the lack of AA in settings? I didn't get a chance to fiddle with them because i just didn't care at this point. Nothing about it wow'ed me so far. I'll hold my final judgement when I get the final game, which I hope I'll keep on pre-order.

I know, it performs surprisingly well and looks great. I ran Warhead almost maxed and got slightly higher FPS. It's still a mystery why Crysis 2 is running like crap though.

EDIT: And I'm overclocking and have made edits for performance in the NVIDIA control panel, neither of which I have to do for Crysis or Warhead.

Well, although Crysis 2 might look worse than part 1, I'm sure on hardware it would be heavier....

Again that's cause of budget cuts in the US Army,

The nano-suit only comes in SMALL SIZE now, no more medium or large....

Probably, but I thought CryEngine 3 was supposed to be more optimized and run better. If the final build won't have advanced graphics settings, I might have to cancel my pre-order until I upgrade my GPU.

Yeah man, those budget cuts, My nano-suit feels like toilet paper. and with Armor on it feels like Paper. Crytek should of gone and joined Activision, at least then they wouldnt have to lie blantly to everyone that it isnt a CoD rip off.

I'm positive the final build of the PC version will have advanced graphics settings. As for the engine, yes it probably is better optimized but at the same time might have more graphics behind it, so newer hardware is needed anyway.

Yes, it feels like a rip-off, but that's the "safe" road to take these days..... just look at how CoD sells.

Saying that, how would YOU have created the MP to make it THAT much different from CoD? while keeping it fun and addictive?

Interesting. I got into a match on Skyline, and it was running at a very consistent 30-40fps and felt very smooth. I'm really enjoying the demo now, already made it to level 3 with 2 games. I don't know what happened. Pier 17 still runs in the 20s, just as Skyline was earlier.

It runs better, for sure, but Crysis 2's environment seems more static, like others have mentioned in this thread. While Crysis felt more "alive." And I'm not just referring to the jungle parts. :)

extremely disappointed in the multiplayer, if this is how its going to be. Teeny tiny maps, absolutely zero attempt at realism (recoil, specifcally), and the suit powers are just weird feeling

THank god I am getting this game for the singleplayer. The multiplayer will just have to grow on me.

Good god. My performance is terrible with CrossFireX 6850's. :| 30-40FPS, really? I get silkier gameplay in Warhead. And this is only DirectX9, and the levels are tiny. How on earth is this remotely possible Crytek. 1090T X6 @ 4.2Ghz, 8GB 1600mhz DDR3 Ripjaws, 2x6850 1GB, 30-40FPS, 1920x1080, Hardcore. :| Not impressed.

This demo feels like a copy of COD in many ways, but I think the actual game will be quite good and will last me maybe a month. To be perfectly honest the demo itself is better than Warhead and the original Crysis' multiplayer IMO. However the reason I think it will last a month or even just a few weeks is because it's nothing new, the game modes are quite bland, and the abilities don't seem to offer much replayability

From the demo I'm extremely disappointed. It looks and feels like a console game. Fuzzy graphics, blah gunplay, static environments, small levels.. It's so consolized. Makes me sick to see this happen to a Crysis game.

SLI was not working until I downloaded the patch from EVGA, so maybe CF isn't either? Check to see how much of your GPUs are being used.

Just played some more Crysis 2. My performance is crap as well. It was okay earlier but now... I'm averaging 30-45fps but the it jumps all over the place. Will they release sli support patch or drivers? Is it really that time to get rid of my sli setup and go single-gpu? :P

Jeeze, so much 'extremely unimpressed', 'unrealistic', 'sli doesn't work (most likely just unsupported atm, there's supposed to be some stuff for it soon anyway).

I for one, like a bit of 'unrealistic' gameplay for my shooters, I loved Quake and Wolfenstein: ET, those in no way were realistic, but fun as hell. However, the lack of cheesy weapons, and silly objectives.. imo, needs to get modded in.

I don't care for the Pier 17 map, it feels too cramped and open at the same time, I dunno how they managed that. Skyline is half useless, with the indoors section just being very under used, almost never saw combat indoors 'cept when the pod was downstairs, and even then... there wasn't much.

Not really digging the netcode. I wouldn't be surprised if it was P2P, all servers I joined seemed to be filled with people having pings of 200+.

Personally I'm averaging my ping in the 40's-50's. Last game I did someone was in the teens. Havent personally seen one person above 150 yet in about...the 20 games I've done.

Quite dissapointed with the performance with my 5970, running at 1920x1080 with the hardcore settings I get anywhere from low 30s to high 50s, framerates dip annoyingly and on gamer I get around 60 most of the time, but seriously wtf, I've heard of less powerful nvidia cards getting upwards of what I'm getting. I'm guessing that the nvidia cards are a lot better optimized seeing as how they did provide money for the development, and I'm hoping that performance with my card will improve with the final package :(, dual-gpu cards are probably dealing with similar issues as someone trying to do crossfire/sli.

Anybody else with similar config to mine or same graphics card get similar results?

Skyline is half useless, with the indoors section just being very under used, almost never saw combat indoors 'cept when the pod was downstairs, and even then... there wasn't much.Inconsistancy
I respect your opinion and you seem like a very reasonable person but Crytek made a huge impact with Crysis on the PC gaming world back in 2007. They got us upgrading our PC's, building new ones, and benchmarking just for the sake of benchmarking. It was a surge that the PC gaming community needed and I feel with Crysis 2, it took all that away in one foul swoop. The original Crysis was and still is, one of best looking games on a technical level. It set new standards that games in the future from that time, couldn't even begin to fathom. With Crysis 2, I feel like I'm playing a completely different game. Patching DX11, patching Sli support after launch? Whut? I might be jumping to conclusions but all the features seemed to be hacked away. And who releases an MP demo unless you're DICE? I'm skeptical but I still have faith that the single player campaign will be worthwhile. Hence why I'm keeping my pre-order. Don't get me wrong here. Just sayin' from what I'm seeing.

[QUOTE="KHAndAnime"]Not really digging the netcode. I wouldn't be surprised if it was P2P, all servers I joined seemed to be filled with people having pings of 200+.trijity

Personally I'm averaging my ping in the 40's-50's. Last game I did someone was in the teens. Havent personally seen one person above 150 yet in about...the 20 games I've done.

Sounds like peer to peer to me.

Why do I keep seeing servers with no players in them, then? That doesn't sound like p2p.

[QUOTE="millerlight89"][QUOTE="-CheeseEater-"]Good god. :| Not impressed.Elann2008

I am actually stunned at how poorly this is running on my system, I presume to test CrossFireX I just run specific tests with/without it enabled in the CCC. However, for the love of all god I do not understand how my performance would increase running only one card, is the coding really that good that it feels the need to freak out at the sight of two cards? I've played a few hours of the demo now, and can report back that both maps are extremely small, Pier 17 is a load of garbage, and Skyline is dominated by those camping the top roof with the LMG specified weapon.

Completely 100% agree with this Elann, Crysis 1 stood as the top dog in the visuals department, it was the benchmark that raised the bar far higher than any other game out at the time, I'd be confident in saying that Crysis 1 single handedly drove a ****load of pc hardware sales. It seems as if Crysis 2 is standing for the complete opposite of what Crysis 1 was all about :(

I can report back that Single Card's from AMD run better than CrossFireX. When comparing my frames per second with my dual 6850's, I averaged 33FPS 1920x1080 'Hardcore'. Whereas with a single 6850 card, I averaged 42fps 1920x1080 'Hardcore'.

I'll test out Crysis 2 with a single GTX 460 1GB stock and OC'ed and report back. This is bad news for both Nvidia and AMD owners. Especially when I've been hearing CrossfireX performs very well in Crysis and Crysis Warhead. So far, I can tell you that SLi in Crysis 2 MP demo is seeing poor performance. I'll brb.

Just went and played again and recorded a bit accurately what type of fps I get at 1920x1080 Hardcore with a 5970, pretty dissapointing to say the least. The max I'll get is around 60 only in indoor areas, everywhere else averages around 40 fps and about a minimum of 35 :\.

This is probably a stupid question but does a 5970 count as crossfire seeing as how its a dual gpu card? if so is there anyway to disable crossfire, can't seem to find any option in the CCC.

My performance with SLi vs Single-gpu are all over the place. With a single GTX 460 1GB stock, I'm getting anywhere from 31fps to 45fps, Hardcore, 1920x1200 (Skyline map). With SLi, 30-35fp, same settings. I'm sure there is no sli/crossfire support at the moment. Will have to wait for the final product.

1. @Patching, no, driver updates from ati/nvidia will cover it, it's going to ship with dx11 supported, I will admit the game has seen a bit of that dreaded consolization, and that will hold back it's graphics a bit... but other games are looking more demanding this time 'round, like The Witcher 2.

2. DEMO not final release. ~"is not an example of the product's final quality"

3. Graphics are useless w/o gameplay, if I want only eye candy, I can play any Final Fantasy game (8+), sure it's not real time, but it's damn pretty. While Crysis 1 was pretty, I thought it was horribly boring.

Graphics king of 2004 was Doom3, but HL2 was w/o a doubt a better game.

I enjoyed the demo. Visuals are gorgeous and gameplay is fun. I'm surprised I got a good performance using the Advanced setting on my ole 4870.

Coming from being a HUGE! original crysis fan(beta'd and got free club sli t-shirt), i still love playing it and warhead a ton. SLi support has always been poorly implanted into the Crysis series, which saddens me, as the original crysis was a game that could really use every last bit of power. I LOVED! the original crysis(and warhead) and it stood tall and still does to this day. after just trying to bear the opening video on "mulitplayer" then i see "press start button" At this point im PISSED! okay i set the grapics to "hardcore" join a server, WoW this game **** SUCKS! im so disapointed. i don't wanna hear people say "oh it's still in beta/testing phase"...........i remeber all that BS from the original crysis, how it will be more optimized with the final release....which was a huge load of BS. Fact Crysis 2 has been greatly nerfd of all it's glory so it can be played on consoles with their horrible fanboys. Since the completion of Crysis(1) I've been greatly looking foward to continuing where i left off. But for the first time in my life I'm going to cancel my pre-order. the suit(more advaced and newer) should be more complex and far more effient you would think.....being as it takes place 2 years after crysis(1). but no...it's simple now to make it "easy" to use for console players. The thing that made Crysis(1) unique was it was completely different then antyhing else... freedom, advanced suit control, complete weapon customization, having unparalleled graphics. No now i feel like im playing just another run and gun(doom3, COD) FPS. And the games i love(d) are being toned down in every aspect as to make it more suitable for POS consoles......why even bother building a powerhouse computer anymore?!??! and why on gods earth can i not have custom graphic option?! Demo is supposed to give you a good idea of how the game will be and reflect the overall quality, food for thought. so 4 years and this is what were gonna get? it's no wonders pc gaming is going extinct. i could keep going on but i find it useless. **** i really miss the old days.
