Looks to me like BioWare is perfectly capable of recapturing the spirit of Star Wars ( already seen the video ).

I am really excited for this game; I think the MMO genre mixed with really good story telling is going to make SW:TOR a really enjoyable game. It lends purpose to a genre that is generally only about getting to the next level or getting a better piece of gear.

I can't argue that. DA2 was a big letdown compared to DA, but that have a ton of good content before them. As long as it is not done by Obsidian.

This makes me want a Jedi Knight 4 rather then TOR...

i think you guys are ovehyping. yes, the trailer is very good but it may havenothing to do with the game play. I serioulsy wonder how will they manage a multiplayer game with the storyline. There is no way they keep up, and most probably you will keep doing delivery missions.

I wish I could be impressed, but I don't buy games to watch movies. I buy games to play games. I've never understood why they show nothing but cinematic trailers at the E3 conferences.

Because most games in development have a lot of bugs, so they can't be shown in public until close to release. Developers can make a short demo, but that can take a while. They may not have the game engine completely done or the content all there, so they have to make fake content/system just for the demo. It takes extra time that may not ever get used in the final game. Cinematic trailers can get people excited without the need for gameplay.

With those cinematics bioware should just make Star Wars movies since they can't make good games.

i guess you didnt watch the gameplay trailers or read any info about the game, its a big mess following the many mistakes of past mmorpgs, they are just wasting more money in cutscenes

That was a epic trailer. Movie worthy really looking forward to this, I love mmo's and need a new one to play, I hope it turns out good. As others said, I want to see some gameplay.

EDIT just watched so gameplay videos, graphics are not that great but the game looks good. I hope all these haters get owned, we need a good mmo, wow is old and stale.

idunno, I thought the gameplay looked pretty awesome (especially the smuggler; cover system in an MMO? yes please!).

What I am looking forward to is just a rock-solid MMO that incorporates the lore of Star Wars extremely well. I really do not care if it is fairly typical as far as MMO mechanics are concerned (though I do not think it will be), provided they nail the fundamentals (community, stability, accessability, longevity). A story-driven MMO gives, as I said before, purpose to a game that would otherwise be a typical "gather x things from animal a" or "bring package y to person b".

The best singleplayer games have excellent stories, stories that immerse you. If Bioware can carry this over into an MMO, and allow you to partake in these excellent stories with friends or strangers, then I think it should be awesome.

In all honestly I think this game is, spiritually, going to be Knights of the Old Republic Online :P Which is a good thing. And with the resources of Bioware and capital of Electronic Arts, this game is not going to fail. They won't let it.

A nice looking intro cinematic, I liked it, but at the same time, I didnt like it either. I prefer intros like the one in EvE Online. Is it just me or was SWTOR's intro very popcorny?

The rest of the game doesnt look good either. I think I will pass on ToR. A have a bad feeling the heavy sp elements in an mmo will not make for a good experience, I could be wrong, but everything I have seen so far is doing the opposite of getting me hyped. Guild Wars 2 all the way.

Edit: I wonder if the characters in the intro will be potential party members. If so I will definately have Clint Eastwood AKA The Smuggler in my party as much as I can.

that looks awful, good thing about the animated cutscenes but the game looks outdated, the fighting looks terrible, the skills are bad. i guess this is it for me, a big no for this game from me.
