Metal Gear Solid 4 Discussion Thread

Basic Overview:

Metal Gear Solid 4 is set a number of years after the events of Metal Gear Solid 2, and lets players once again reprise the role of series icon Solid Snake. The game will take Snake over a variety of locations over world including the Middle East, which has been the majority of gameplay and cinematics shown in the trailers.

In the tradition of Outer Heaven Mercenaries, the Zanzibar Mercenaries, FOXHOUND, Dead Cell, and the Cobra Unit, MGS4 features the Beauty and the Beast Unit, including "Screaming Mantis", "Crying Wolf", "Laughing Octopus", "Raging Raven". The bosses are all women who suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder, and the player will have the choices to save the women or kill them when the opportunity arises.

With the new installment comes new weapons and items, these vary from Snakes new Octocamo, Metal Gear MK II and the Solid Eye. And an improved CQC (Close Quarters Combat) system from Metal Gear Solid 3 has been included.

The game will be released worldwide on June 12th 2008, and will be Solid Snakes "final mission".

does anybody know if the dualshock 3 controller that comes with the limited edition playstation 3 will be sold separately from the console to because I don't have a dualshock 3 yet and that one looks coolBigSandbags9

Of the game, I couldn't see why not. Of the bundle, I called and they said not for the bundle. My advice would be to call every four days or so and see if they say no or yes. If they say no the first time, they might change their mind so always stay in contact.

Assuming EB Games is having a midnight launch, I'm going to be one of those people, freezing their butts off while waiting in line at midnight :)

Why is there user reviews on metacritic? man that sux! "some people" are lowering the score.

I bought myself MGS2 and 3 today, and will be picking up MGS1 in a few days time (hopefully). I'm dying to play, will I be fine if I play MGS in chonological order? I know it's meant to be played starting with MGS1, but that would mean waiting a few days. Keep in mind that I almost completed MGS1 (Twin Snakes) quite a while ago, but never finished it, same goes for MGS2. I can't remember any of the story mind, and I will be playing them on the easiest difficulties.

So will playing it in 3, 1, 2 order be fine?

I've never made myself play through 3 games, two of which I nearly completed before, just for preparation for an upcoming game. Cain't wait for MGS4.

You should not be playing 3, 1, 2.

The proper order of the game releases are MGS1, MGS2, MGS3. That's the order you should be playing them, the story time line doesn't matter.

I understand that MGS3 is set before MGS1. But that's not the recommended way of playing it.

Unless you have no other choice, you have to play Metal Gear Solid in order, which is MGS1, 2 and then 3.
