[QUOTE="comissario"][QUOTE="shuriken_ninja"]how mamy of us think were as smart or smater than the ps3?menduco76
everyone is smarter than the ps3 ok. if humans invent something it means they're smarter than the thing they invented ok. i guess ur the only human dummer than the ps3 excluding the mentally ill (no offense to them)believe it or not, there are many people who ask questions like this. You know why? because they 100% believe all the hype about the power of the PS3. Thats my one gripe with Sony, they totally overhyped it for a year. Yeah it has a Cell, but its not a FULL robust cell processor, just like the xboxs processor might be triple core, but its not as robust as a PC processor is. You can get away with that with gaming consoles, but if you tried to actually use a PS3 or an x360 as an ACTUAL computer and run a FULL windows operating system with office and internet explorer and everything else, you will see that the performance isnt all that. Â
People like that are so gullible it makes me feel bad for them
You are correct, the Cell in the PS3 serves very specific functions. I believe it costs Sony $87 for the Cell in the PS3. I use Folding@Home on my PC and the PS3, and I found some interesting results. On my PC which is a Core 2 duo OC'd to 2.65 GHZ it would draw one protein frame every 1m 26s, on the PS3 it draws a protein frame every .069 seconds. Also, the Cell is a RISK based processor. Now, the program doesnt use both my PC's CPU cores, so you could almost cut that time in half, but still the Cell is very impressive.
The Cell is a big deal, and yes Sony makes it look like some telekinetic super power, it isn't, it's still just silicon.
