No idea. I havn't gone over level 10 and I'm still at chapter 10.

PoisoN_Facecam0
well i've already leveled 1 to 14 for one (which i ended up scrapping because it had no passive abilities.. I'm only on chapter 7 and i have 5 weapons at lvl 10 already... maybe i shouldn't be taking much advice from you ;)
I, too have most my weapons around 8-10, but I have a couple at 12. My question is this, though: How many levels do these weapons have? What's the max? Seems impossible at this point to get some of the better ones up to 12 let alone any higher. TheEldestGod
plus once you hit lvl cap with a weapon it evolves into something better...

But what's the level cap?

Don't know exactly, but it was for the end of chap 9.

I must seriously start upgrading now that I read these things.

lol.. I say find a weapon with a great passive ability and just solely focus on that.. I'm on chap 7 (might be 8 now that i think of it) and i'm 18 hours in... and also make sure you level up your synergyst their "en(element)" abilities are invaluable!

Damn, this game gets seriously hard later on. I took 5 tries on that last boss fight in Chapter 9, and still no luck. I guess I gotta buff my characters while he charges his OMG-GONNA-KILL-YOUR-ENTIRE-PARTY-NOW-LOLOLOL attack. I'll try again tomorrow.

there have been a few boss fights so far where it seems if i just try to attack him i die really fast... 2 medics and 1 commando is alright to do chip damage if your patient.. whenever i see a boss start charging something up i get out a sentinel and 2 medics (if i can or sentinal, synyrgist, medic).. its my damage eater party ;)

honestly in this FF more than any before i find that patience is the key.. i'll go 2 or 3 minutes in a boss fight dealing little to no damage just healing and buffing/debuffing.. especially since you don't have to worry about mana its alright to kill a dozen or so turns just surviving and gearing up to make a big offensive.. always attacking is a good way to die quickly...

I totally agree. Trying to rush through a fight is the only thing that's gotten me killed so far. If I'm stumped on an enemy I switched everybody to medics, so they stay healed while I figure out what to try next. Sometimes all you really can do is chip damage until you can wear out their defenses and stagger them or something. I find this game takes a lot more strategy than previous titles for the most part, because not only is your attack methods important but timing is everything. I'm just glad its finally getting to a point in the game where I feel like I'm actually in the heat of battle. Challenge = fun.

13 to me fixes everything 12 was trying to do but 12 failed at it. Im still trying to understand why this game didnt get a 9 or higher.

I'm on chapter 10, that boss at the end of chapter 9 was a lot of fun. LOL, it was the first boss that I put hours into approaching and beating. In this game...

I admit it was over kill though, I maxed out and it was easy after. Though I never thought lowly of a game for that, if you put all that hard work and time into a game then a boss battle isn't easy you've just made it that way for yourself with all your time and efforts.

jrpg's are Japanese so unless you like anime then you'll always find some of the personalities/voices weird/annoying. There is a girl in love hina who has the same voice style as vanille(both of which I don' find annoying). As a matter of fact the only annoying character I've ever found in any final fantasy game was gau. Everything about him was annoying even leveling him up.jeremiah06
yeah i get that about japanese games. they have a lot of cutsie stuff i'm not particularly fond of. Vanille just annoys me on a whole other level though. i think what really makes her so annoying is that her voice is just friggin' awful. if there were no voices (god forbid) in the game, and it was just text, i wouldn't be as upset about it I suppose. same thing with selphie, i didn't like her, but she didn't annoy me to this level because she didn't have an annoyingly high pitched voice. also, if someone doesn't like the game, they aren't WRONG. nor is anyone wrong for expressing discontent in what they perceive as design flaws. is the gaming community some sort of socialist empire where everyone has to like the same thing? it got mixed reviews because it has it's flaws. if you don't see them as flaws or like the game so much that you're blind to any little thing that might be bad in the game, then that's fine too, because if you enjoyed in that much then it's a 10 to you. But don't go around forcing your opinion onto other people the second they say something that you don't like. debate if you want to, but no ones opinion is wrong. it's all subjective.

I never said anybody was wrong? That last art can't be towards me can it? I have so many complaints about FFXIII that there is no way I'd give t a 10 I rated it 7.5. I don't even consider it an rpg let alone Final Fantasy. It is still a good game however.

wasn't directed towards you, sorry about that

You need them to change your weapon when it's level is high enough to be able to be changed.

Can someone please give me some tips on how to beat the boss at the end of stage 5 I believe, its the one where its just lightning and hope. He does a spin attack that takes half of your hp away.

hazelnutman

Use the Libra Techinique on it twice. Using Libra only once only gives you half the enemy's info. Using it twice gives you all of it. On bosses that second Libra usually reveals the juicy bits. Odin, for example, is easily defeated by using a "Rav/Rav" paradigm and a "Med/Med" one switching back and forth the whole time.

Since I don't want to use my TC too quickly, I tend to use Libra once to get all of the elemental stats and then find out the rest by battling them. The info card you get by pressing R1 updates automatically as you or the enemy attacks, and since it's a lot easier getting this kind of info manually (the same info you get on the second Libra), I only use Libra once to get the elemental properties (which are harder to fully discover).

I tried this but still can't beat him, its getting infuriating, whats the best combo to use on him?

Just got him with a heavy amount of double dose.

Yeah, that doesn't really happen much. I'm in chapter 7 (out of 13) and the only treasures and weapons I've gotten are from these floating metal balls that are placed sporadically along your path. Its possible to miss some of them, but you'd be a complete moron if you did. Basically, there's no treasure HUNTING that I've encountered yet. The enemies only drop "components" that you use to level up your weapons or sell for gil (cause they sure as hell don't drop any gil). I have heard that later on in the game you can ride a chocobo around and hunt for treasure on a broader map but its in chapter 11 which is like 30+ hours into the game.

This game just blew me away! I'm not finished with it yet though...

SPOILER

The game just blew my mind entirely, once I got to the "world map" I was just totally brain boogled. I've never seen so much map. It's more map than I can handle and it's beautiful and it goes on and on as far as the eye can see and even further. I've never seen any thing like this in a video game before. I can't even focus, I had to break from the game because the map is so full of life and endless roam that I was just blown away. I couldn't even take it all in.

Chapter 11 or not, the map is AWESOME!

I had to walk away from it, totally breath taking, anyone who wants to whine and complain that the story is linear is a fool, of course it is they lived more or less a slave's life. IF the game was any other way it would not only make no sense whatsoever, it would be stupid lol. Stupid, yes. IM FREE! IM FREE! IM ON THE WORLD MAP AND ITS AWESOME!

No problem. I must say, though, this game doesn't sound too appealling when you lay all the facts out in print, but it has a certain magic it works on you that you'll only get after playing for a couple hours. I was interested right away but still disappointed. Then, out of no where, I was hooked. I rented it the day it came out (cause I was EXTREMELY skeptical) and bought it a couple days later.

Bigger than the Antimantum (the girant turtle things)? I saw one of those in the GI review and the party members were like the size of its toenail! Those things are just crazy big!!

I finished the game yesterday and am now moving onto side quests. I was wondering what was the best weapon for lightning.

I mainly use her as Ravager to fill up the stagger gauge, and once filled I usually switch over to commando for the dmg bonus. I'm debating between Blazefire, Axis Blade, and Lionheart. I already have Blazefire and Lionheart at maxed Level 2. I'm actually somewhat puzzled as to how the quick stagger for Lionheart works, as I'm not really visibly seeing the benefits. Anyone care to elaborate on that, and their weapon of choice?

This game get really good after Chp. 6! It's becoming of the best games I have played in a while. Some of these bosses really make you ponder how to defeat them. Enjoying the battle system so far. It's a lot of fun!
cast poison on both of them with vanille as a sabo and sazh as a synergist.. then switch to medic and ravager and just do chip damage until 1 of them dies or staggers.. i find since they use their water and lighting attacks in tandem not having a medic is suicide... Patience is key in this one as both enemies are relatively unrelenting.. not alot of windows for big attacks or chains.. also use a medic and synergist and cast bravery and vigilance on both your party to keep from having your cures canceled out...
idk if these are spoilers, just my strategy for beating the boss...
I'll try again tomorrow.TheEldestGod

there have been a few boss fights so far where it seems if i just try to attack him i die really fast...

Challenge = fun.

exactly.. battles almost have the tactical freedom of FF Tactics in a way... not having to rush through battles before your MP drains is wonderful.. sentinels are a great way to control the pace of a battle if you fighitng a bunch of semi-powerful enemies...

As of right now Snow is the only Sentinel in the bunch. I really wish I had more. I need more Saboteurs, too. I really like how no matter what each paradigm is extremely helpful in one way or another, and I find my self using everyone at my disposal in almost every big battle. I feel like a king directing an army in this game. As long as the enemies present at least a little challenge this battle system is actually a blast.

you'll get another more "effective" sentinel pretty soon.. yeah i find that i do mostly custom pardigm, its so easy to just switch that i don't really have more than 1 or 2 balanced one.. the rest are either pure offense or defense..

also this pretty much goes for every boss battle.. if you fail over and over try early on buffing your characters while you and the enemy are still at full health.. it'll really help.. medic + synergist is what i start most boss battles as...
Ok without spoiling the game how are the weapons/treasures to find in the game? I love a good RPG were you can hunt down treasures, weapons etc, etc.TheEldestGod

What about in Vile Peaks? You have to backtrack after turning on the power to get some of the treasure. I skipped that the first time I played the game.

Yeah, there's that, but like I said its doesn't happen much. There's supposed to be all kinds of crazy stuff going on further in the game, so I'm sure it might pick up.

Heh, I just got her. I was wondering when she was going to finally be available. Thus far, though, I'm doing a pretty darn good job without much support. My Crystarium has stayed maxed out this entire time, and my weapons are as top notch as I can afford to get them. That boss you were talking about at the end of six was a piece of cake. I just used Rav/Sav and Rav/Med the entire battle with a Rav/Rav thrown in every now and then for a little extra damage boost. Damn, this game is fun. :P

Can anyone tell me the differences between the CE and non-CE OSGs? I know that in the CE OSG there are "16 pages providing in-depth coverage of the Final Fantasy XIII story line," but do these hold any information that is useful within the game? Also, are there any other additions aside from these 16 pages? Yes, I know it's hardcover with high quality paper and high resolution images, etc., but, again, is there any practical information in the CE OSG that is not included in the non-CE OSG?

Thanks!
