The Official Final Fantasy XIII Thread (56K Warning)

Well, part of the "problem" with the story is they throw you into the action with no background. But they did that on purpose because throughout the game, it does flashbacks to the 13 days prior to them being l'Cei. So I just see that as an interesting narrative approach, personally. I was never really all that lost, but then again, I knew a lot about the game before playing, lol.

And about the Hope thing... I really don't know. Some people just hate characters who show ANY emotion and just call them "emo" when they do. Makes no sense to me - do you really want a bunch of emotionless characters? This isn't a shooter! ;/ Those people kinda bug me, lol. Personally, Hope, Fang, and Vanille are my favorite characters. :D

Yeah I kinda figured that they would explain the 13 days in flashbacks.... Reminds me of MGS 4 sorta.

Don't know if it's the timpanis or what, but it has just been pounded into my head.

Maybe it's because of how the battle just takes forever.

The music is just perfect for some kind of scene, don't know what it is but some kind of scene in like a movie or something.

I read all that before buying the game back in Feb, lol. Well, I didn't read the Chapters that said had spoilers from the game, but the others were pretty good background info.

Well if it's an intended technique then it completely fails. Flashbacks only works when your audience are famailiar with the story already.

FF13 is a case where the game is more aware itself than the player will ever be, and to quote a review I read that phrased it fittingly: it's more of a byproduct of SE's self-masturbation.

Man, something's not right. I still need a couple more million gil to get my plat, but suddenly the Adamantioses I've been farming stopped dropping Platinum Ignots. I was running through Mission 63 over and over and hitting that extra Adamantoise out in the field and getting a Platinum Ignot from each almost every single time. Tonight, however, I got one Platinum Ignot out of over a dozen runs. It was like 25 or 26 battles after I started counting that I didn't get anything. What gives? I got my catalogs equipped. I haven't changed strategies. Does anyone have a clue of any way to actually give yourself BAD luck? TheEldestGod

hey guys in doing the sieth stone missions and for mission 30, im supposed to fight a monster in Mah'habara, but i cant find him. i walk through and just end up in sulya springs. is he hidden??bizzy420

Are you sure about stopping him from doing destrudo? I know that if you keep hitting him until he makes that sound it takes off less but I don't think you can stop him from doing it.

I used Lightning, Hope, and Sazh.

Paradigms I had (If I can remember correctly)

Commando, Ravager, Ravager (Pretty much the bread and butter of staggering offense in this game)

Commando, Ravager, Medic (A step down from Com/Rav/Rav)

Commando, Synergist, Synergist (Sazh is a better Synergist than Hope but together they do work to get plus statues on everyone)

Medic, Medic, Synergist (I use this to heal quickly before and after destrudo)

Just keep hitting him and heal when you have to. You can take a break from hitting him for a while. As long as his stagger bar isn't empty, it wiill go right back to where it was with one hit.

Finally if you take too long he will cast doom (or death or whatever it is on the party leader)

Wow. I got 0 stars on the last boss. What the hell? I was too powerful for it. I beat it in 3 minutes, but the target was like 2. I have to fight all those forms again just to try for the 5-stars. Stupid. Soooooo stupid.

I got him on my 2nd try easily. Just went in with a RAV/SAB/SYN and then just went into relentless assault as soon as I got Deprotect and Deshell on him, along with Haste, Bravery, Faith on my people. Beat him in just over a minute.

I had heaps of trouble on the 2nd last boss, but i went through the game and never grinded and was at the boss by 39 hours, i actually got the game 3 days early and so i finished it the day it was released :)

66% of my trophies completed. Got quite a few in the past hour: 5/6 of the Crystarium Seals (just need Commando), Limit Breaker, All High Level Cieth Missions, and I beat the giant Cactaur. I got super lucky. I "lucky" staggered him with only 2 of my party members left, so I just beat him up with those two, he luckily killed my AI partner, I quickly used Renew, and then he luckily didn't target my party leader. Killed him with one character left :lol: I 5-starred it as well, so even better.

You only need 1 Omega weapon for each character right? It's going to be a B to farm the materials to convert them to Omega weapons.
