especially since Piggyback are making it, they always create superb guides.stack1109Glad to hear they make good guides. I've never got a Piggy Back guide before. Most of the guides I have are Brady, with a couple Prima. Of the 2 I definitely like Brady better. I'm actually a bit disappointed that Brady isn't making the guide for this though since they made all the other FF guides. I really liked the CE guides they did for FFX-2 and FFXII. Also agree with you and frielock. I'm not using the guide for my first playthrough but I'm using it for my 2nd to get a 100% playthrough and get the Plat.
I wouldn't watch the review at all. I wouldn't want to have even the slightest thing spoiled so maybe its best to just not watch it at all. In a little over 29 hours I will have it in my hands :DOne more day, guys! :o
I want to watch the review, but I'm afraid of spoilers.
Does anyone know how big the spoilers are in the review? Are they things that you find out early in the game, or are they spoilers that can ruin the game?

All right, I'm just not going to watch it until I beat the game. :)
Believe it or not, this game is actuallly my first (retail) purchase of 2010.

lol well by then there's really no point in watching the review since by then you can make your own judgments. If you really want to watch though you go right ahead. I won't stop you I promise :P This will be my 5th 2010 purchase. I've already picked up Bayonetta (360), BioShock 2 (360), Dante's Inferno (PS3), and Heavy Rain.hey guys, do you think this will be a plausable Platinum (i.e. Uncharted, RE5, etc), or do you think it'll have a couple trophies that are simply impossible? Because, if it seems to be a maintainable/fun platinum, i may pick up the guide for the second playthrough. Also, the art in it is gorgeous ;).
It's not because of lightning's personality that it's linear, it's because of the story. It's a chase for the first 15 hours of the game or so. Unlike in other FFs where you might have 7 different events going on for the first 15 hours, this game basically has 1. It has this weird quality where it feels shorter and longer at the same time because of it.

Its cause some people just dont see it as a real FF :P
I like the battle system AND the dress sphere system, plus it had some haaard bosses!

More people loved X-2? I thought I was the only one :D But hey, I also loved Dirge of Cerberus, but it was also condemned cause it didn't focus on Cloud or Sephiroth. Awesome game.
Luckily I have BFBC2 to tide me over until tomorrow, FINAL FANTASY XIII DAY! Been waiting 5 years...I feel like I should buy it a gift or something, take it out to dinner.
I enjoyed FFX-2 overall. I didn't really like the story (as I thought the ending to FFX was near-perfect), but the battle system was a blast; probably my fav RPG battle system!
Anyways. Am I the only one thinking they will wake up in a minute, and it'll really be six months until release of FFXIII? ;/ Just can't believe it's finally hererererere.

See, I enjoyed X-2's story, though I agree X's story and ending was pretty much perfect (loved when Tidus high-fives Jecht at the end) The YRP thing was TOO after-school special sometimes, which did detract from the story a little, but the I liked the basic plot.

how do you like it so far?its pretty good so far, minus the terrible camera, i like this game a lot, the battle system is fluid and the cutscenes are gorgeous
I just played it for an hour, don't get the critics complaints. Best graphics ever, story stays interesting.Gameplay evolved away from the slow turn based into goodlooking action. The only thing I hate is that last screen after the battle is done telling ya what items ya get. They should've put that in a small text in the right corner at the end. Except that, dope game.
[QUOTE="naaros"][QUOTE="CraigyM83"]Does anyone know if we're going to be force fed Leona Lewis while playing the game or is it just in the trailer?CraigyM83
I suspect it will just be during the credits. If it really becomes a big deal for you, can always just mute the game.
Not so much the music itself but one of the reasons I've always enjoyed FF games is the music that comes with it and I think it's shame they've sold out the original theme to replace it with a tacky pop song.I agree wholeheartedly.

I don't think nobuo did this one's soundtrack, which I think is the real disappointment. But I hear he's helping with FF14 hah.Damn theres a store close to my house that has been selling the game since 5 PM. To bad my shipment from Amazon already dispatched :(

Nope, he's doing FFXIII Versus, which mostly all the FF vets are working on. I bet everyone here that Versus will be the best jprg this generation.[QUOTE="killerband55"][QUOTE="MDGoose"]
To those who have it already: is there an install? If so, how big?
Dahaka-UK
very small, 500kb
Thats the save file isn't it? There is no installation. An the game is practically load screen free the majority of the game.no installation, neat huh?, and no loading between areas (well no major loading while playing the game)
Funny thing about this. The mod who "endorsed" this thread (I sent him some PMs beforehand to get an idea of how to make an official thread) told me that when he stickied my thread, he didn't want me to include any kind of "POST HERE" kind of stuff on it until he found the boards overwhelmed with FFXIII threads. If they started locking FFXIII-related threads, then that must mean that it's time for me to label this thread. However, I haven't received confirmation yet from any of the mods on whether or not to go ahead with this since my previous instruction was to not do so. Sounds like some miscommunication going on. I'll PM a moderator or staff right away to clear up the issue. Also, it's a general rule on the GameSpot forums that sticked threads based a game must be the central hub for all discussion and/or questions in an attempt to remove clutter. That's just how things roll around here, I suppose. It happened for GTAIV, MGS4, MW2, and countless others. Why did all the other FF13 topics get locked? Those were legit threads. Are there not allowed to be other Final Fantasy 13 topics besides this sticky? Is there some rule that states "Post all FF13 related talk into the stickied thread"?

I'm way too tired to put in serious time tonight. But a few quickies nonetheless before I pass out:
1- Game is pretty. Very detailed, love the animations and overall love the character designs.
2- Essentially load free, and it didn't require a mandatory 5GB install to make it that way either. Capcom, take notes, ok?
3- I like the battle system, but being so early in still, it's still unfolding and is rather basic. But I love the return to ATB. I just wasn't a fan of the way battles were handled in FF12, especially in terms of the presentation of the battles. In FF12 battles were not cinematic nor epic in anyway. Every fight felt like another fight. Glad they corrected this. Now, I sleep.

here is the metacritic result: an 82/100 and users rate this game a 7.2/10, do you guys think these scores are too low?
I think that the game is getting wonderful scores from many places. GameSpot's 8.5, IGN's 8.9, GameTrailers' 8.6, etc, etc. Personally, I'm blowing off the "professional" reviews which gave the game 50/100 and such. I mean, 50% is pretty much a C-, bordering on an F in terms of letter grades. I know that the numbers really don't represent much, but when you're considering the fact that a game which so many people have come to at least find enjoyability in is receiving such ridiculously low scores from certain journalists, it makes you question their credibility... kinda like my English teacher. As for the user scores, well... I've rarely had times when I've ever had user reviews benefit me at all. It's probably the rabid, paranoid, FFXIII fanboy inside me talking, but it seems like it's the "cool hip thing" nowadays to hate on the game because of its departure from its traditional roots. But who knows - I haven't freaking played the game yet. I might love it or I might hate it. Although, hearing about how it's similar to FFX's pacing is certainly reassuring; I ****ing loved that game.http://www.metacritic.com/games/platforms/ps3/finalfantasy13
