Yeah, that really sucks, I'm hoping when the other consoles I could possibly import these games for alot cheaper. Right now it's a bit too expensive for me.
P4 is one goddamn glorious game, but I can't put it above VC. Everything else can stay where it is though. Nice to see you again, dude. :PI have an addiction. It's not easy for me to admit it, but I have one. I'm addicted to Ni no Kuni. I can't get enough of it.

[QUOTE="roboccs"]Hi guys, Long time no chat YC! Love the thread. I've been playing pretty much only RPGs lately. I prefer JRPGs but in the past few years really got into some WRPGs, mainly Dragon Age Origins, Mass Effect 2 and 3, and Oblivion and Skyrim. I'm currently playing Xenoblade Chronicles, Arc Rise Fantasia, and Last Story for Wii. I am only 12 or so hours into Mass Effect 3 but haven't played it in months (I have a bad habit of stopping games for long periods of time :( And honestly I've been really getting into some older jrpgs. I've decided to try Persona 2 Eternal Punishment on PS1 and I finally started Tales of Destiny 2 (or Tales of Eternia) for PS1. Oh! And I'm pretty far into Final Fantasy 6, need to get back in to that too!! Man, I have rpg A.D.D. !! All this and I really don't get to play games all that much... probably why I never finish anything!!Young_CharterGood to see you here and appreciating it man. I haven't seen you since the FF Versus XIII thread lol  I seriously forgot about that thread!!! How come you haven't updated it in awhile :P
I'll probably get flamed for this but I don't like Dark Souls honestly. Now I'm not that type of guy to immediately dismissed a game if I don't like it,since I love rpgs and I heard many great postive feedback about DS I got it for $15 and decided to give it a try ....unfortunately I just never could get into it,no offense to anyone who loved the game but I just find it somewhat boring and its obviously pretty difficult, also I like playing games for the storyline as well but DS just never hit that mark for me in terms of story.Lately my friend been trying to show me how awesome it is and while I liked some aspects of it my opinion just never changed about it. Skyrim on the other hand looks more like an rpg I might like but I could never get it at a cheap price and it came out awhile nowTriniPlayerYou're not alone, I wasent able to get into it as well. For me it just didnt compare to Demons Souls at all.
Maybe next gen Playstation or if CDPR outsourced the port to another studio. PS3 architecture is too foreign for a studio that's still wet behind the ears.I really hope The Witcher 3 comes out on a PS platform.

So what do you guys think of Resonance of Fate? It looks pretty good, thinking of maybe picking it up.

I haven't finished the game yet, but I'll give you my quick verdict regardless.
Resonance of Fate is, from what what I've played so far (I made it up to about chapter 5), a really solid rpg. It's better than most, but not the best either.
The story is a bit confusing at first, but you slowly get the gist of it after a few cutscenes. The characters are incredibly funny, and you mostly get to know them from skits (similar to those of Tales of Graces F), which are hilarious and provide a lot of backstory. Essentially, much more emphasis is centered on the three characters than it is on trying to save the world, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. I found it refreshing.
The gameplay is the star of Resonance of Fate. The battle system is innovative and fresh while managing to sort of modernize the typical jrpg battle system, in that it's a blend of real-time and strategy; a hybrid, if you will. On a more neutral note, the battle system is extremely daunting. Whether that's a good thing or bad thing is up to the player, I guess. The battle system will kick your butt, but if you take the time to learn all it has to offer you'll take great pride in overcoming what was, from an initial glance, an impossible boss fight. Even then, you are still going to be learning, improving, and experimenting as the game's enemies rarely stay the same. I guess what I'm trying to say is that Resonance of Fate does not hold your hand - it expects you to persevere and learn.
Outside of battling, there are various sidequests (more like fetch quests, really) which provide much needed change. It's nothing to special, but I found it to pretty fun. You can also upgrade/purchase parts for your various guns which is isn't overly complex, but fun nonetheless. Oh, I almost forgot! There's a boutique where you spend your in-game currency on, well, clothes! It's a nice touch. Tons of customization from hair, outfits, shoes, accessories is strangely addicting.
The graphics are gorgeous, the cutscenes look great, and everything is rendered well. My only complaint is that the battle arenas look more or less the same... Brown, black, and rusty silvers - those are colors that you will have to grow accustomed to. Then again, those colors are prominent for a reason (it's story related) so I can't fault the blandness too much.
But yeah, I would award Resonance of Fate with at least an 8/10. That's still subject to change, though, as I haven't yet completed the game.

I agree a bunch man. ROF is sickI really hope The Witcher 3 comes out on a PS platform.

I'm counting on it. The PS4 isn't going to have the Cell architecture which made the PS3 hard to develop for. I think it's safe to say we'll see CD Projekt's future games on the PS4 (like The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077).Â

I wouldn't be surprised if they released TW3 on the PS4 and have a bundled option that includes TW1+2 for a bit extra money. Would be good for PS3 gamers that don't have a PC or 360.So what do you guys think of Resonance of Fate? It looks pretty good, thinking of maybe picking it up.

RoF is one great game if you take the time to invest in the battle system. It's tough to figure out at first, but becomes second nature after you get the hang of it. It's my 3rd favorite RPG on the PS3 behind Valkyria Chronicles and Ni No Kuni.
Anyone here ever play Eternal Sonata? I'm playing it because I'm on a JRPG kick after playing Ni no Kuni for a couple weeks. It's a fun game, but long winded (some of the cut scenes seem close to 10 minutes!). The combat system is great though, and I'm hooked. It's certainly not an awesome game like Kuni, but it's pretty good.
I greatly enjoyed the demo but it is on my long list of "to get one day." I've heard it's quite short for a JRPG which is actually kind of appealing considering my short attention span and time constraints.Anyone here ever play Eternal Sonata? The Last Hope is the worst RPG I've ever played. Possibly the worst game I've ever played. It wasn't a bad taste, it was a bad thing fir the universe. I hope that game burns in hell where it belongs.
I'm not joking.
Contemplating picking up a used Vita somewhere down the line.
Never owned a PSP and playing PSN/PS1 games on the go is super appealing. And admittedly while there aren't many games out for it I would get, they greatly appeal to me. Persona 4 with all the bonus content and Soul Sacrifice specifically. Hopefully that Tales remake gets ported along and a few other RPGs and I think I'll do it.

Indeed. You should recommend him something like Valkryia Chronicles. Lovely title. If you get a Vita, I recommend Zero's Escape and Disgaea. Those will be my first two games for the Vita because they both of top quality.Contemplating picking up a used Vita somewhere down the line.

I think I got up to Chapter 3 and stopped. The combat system was fun, but the story was kinda boring, especially those extremely long winded sections about Chopin between chapters. I seriously almost fell asleep during the one before Chapter 3 and that was about when I knew it was time give up on the game :P I may give it another try someday but it's not high on the priority list. And 10 minute cutscenes are nothing. Try playing through Xenosaga  I personally don't mind how long a scene is, as long as it interests me which is why I didn't mind the 30 and 40 minute cutscenes on Xenosaga.Anyone here ever play Eternal Sonata? Dude you way overblow your hatred for the game. Was it a great game? No, but it was still decent enough. The combat was fun and it did have a few decent characters (Meracle was adorable) and a huge beautiful world to explore. Story was kinda meh, but enough to keep me interested. I gave the game a solid 7.5. @01_855403: It was also my first Star Ocean game and I enjoyed it well enough. It took me over 70 hours to finish it and I didn't even get into the post game stuff so there's tons of content and plenty of bang for your buck. All I can say is try it for yourself. You may hate it as much as Yoko, or you find you actually enjoy it.I've had an addiction to Pokémon White 2 for quite some time now. The game is a blast to play and I can't get enough of the game.Â
Otherwise I was playing Chrono Trigger DS up until I got back into Pokémon. Haven't touched Xenoblade in a while, although I should. And I just purchased both Fire Emblem: Awakening and Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch. Both games are incredible and can't wait to get further into them.Â
**Also in my backlog: Paper Mario: Sticker Star, Persona 3: FES, Final Fantasy IX
I've said it before, Vita is totally worth it. There's a decent enough lineup of games now, plus all those PSP and PS1 RPGs.Contemplating picking up a used Vita somewhere down the line.

Makes up for the somewhat lackluster design choices in the second game too. I would buy a Xenosaga HD Collection in a heartbeat even with still owning my PS2 copies of all 3 games. One of my favorite RPG series of all time. Shame they had to cut it short though. It was originally supposed to be spread across 6 games but I think due to poor sales they had to cut some things and constrain it to just the 3 games.Anyone here ever play Eternal Sonata? I just started Fire Emblem like an hour ago lol It sucks I had to wait until Thursday to pick it up because my GameStop got their shipment in way late. Really enjoying ti so far though. It's my first Fire Emblem game. If I like it enough I'll go back through some of the older games. Excited for the Fire Emblem/ SMT crossover too even though I have no idea wtf it is lol Ni No Kuni is next on my purchase list once I finish up with the games I'm playing now and after MGR, Tomb Raider, and BioShock Infinite.I've had an addiction to Pokémon White 2 for quite some time now. I actually traded in Paper Mario though. Massive disappointment. Just didn't have the same charm that the first 2 games had. Maybe you'll enjoy it more when you get around to it. P3Fes and FFIX are incredible though.
