Sonic RPG 5: Indefinitely Detained

Blitz watched everything that happened to Babylon and Sonic. he was nervous which made his quills shake slightly.

Blitz: uhh...Babylon? Sonic? can you hear me?

Suddenly a page posp out from the green gem Sonic was holding. Blitz picks it up and seeing it was a map, he carefully places it inside his glove.

Blitz: what do we do...Crimson?

Eugene shakes his head. "No, no. I understand all about this 'We're all going to die' crap. But what I WANT to know is what you people were doing PRE-Computer Take over." He gets side-tracked. "Here, let me compare this part with yours, they'll need to be roughly equal in diameter...."

"C" starts to get a bit agitated. "Whatever fox, do whatever the hell you want." He starts wandering around, looking for something to do. He soon finds himself at Eugene and Marcus' "Workstation". "Please tell me that has SOMETHING to do with us getting out of here...."

Eugene chuckles a bit. "Small world, ey?" His node makes another beeping noise. "Oh no, that won't be necessary, we just need to reroute it here, with THIS piece." It goes back to work. "So, this 'Kyson' you've been referring to, is he another one of your psychotic android machines?"

"C" interrupts. "Look, I don't care what you guys have planned, just tell me what to do and I'll make myself useful."

Eugene looks around, trying to find something that wont be TOO easily broken with clumsiness. "Why don't you stand guard outside?"

"C" rolls his eyes. "You'll find that I'm more than just a thug with a gun, but at the moment, I enjoy portraying myself like that...."

He stands by the door. Eugene sighs a bit of relief. "So, yeah....Kyson? That's an interesting name."

"I, I don't know. What happened here. I must have been knocked unconscious during that little skirmish." Crimson turns from Blitz and thinks to himself. After a few moments, he turns to face Blitz once more. "Okay, we're gonna have to carry them outta here. This would be a lot easier if we had something to put them on, though." Crimson sighs. "This place is so weird. I don't know how the hell we're gonna find...." Oddy on cue, a door opens to Crimson's left, revealing a futuristic looking Hover APC. "Well, there we go." He walks up to it as it's front doors open automatically.

"Well, let's hope it isn't rigged. Crimson laughs as if to scare Blitz. He hops in and drives over to Babylon and Sonic's bodies. He then opens the back hatch. "Put them in the back."

(Once again, Crimson's carelessness is apparent.)

Lyra: Come then. We must find the fox.

Eddie: I'm on my way. I may have to blow a few holes to get to him.

Lyra: No worries. This shuttle provides the firepower you need.

Eddie: Great. I'll reach him better this way.

Eddie fires at a nearby wall, and the blast left a huge gap big enough for the shuttle to go through.

Eddie: By the way, how many can fit in this shuttle?

Lyra: About ten at most plus two more for a pilot and co-pilot.

Eddie: (thinks) I hope I can find more after finding this fox.

Eddie continues to blow more holes at every wall that he comes across. Suddenly, he finds who Lyra had mentioned.

Eddie: Hey! That's Janis. (opens the hatch and waves) Janis! Over here!

Dem: We are free, for now.

End Dem (with option of returning depending on situation).

Babylon and Sonic were ready to leave the digital world.

AL: okay, you guys ready?

Sonic: Im waaaiiiting! ( can anyone remember where this is from? )

Babylon: lets go.

AL: first things first.

AL materializes some sort of goggles onto his hand.

AL: you, white-hog...

Babylon: its Babylon, thank you very much! hes Sonic by the way!

AL: sorry about that, Babylon, see this pair of glasses? its called a visualizer, it will let you see me once youre on the outside. ill materialize them next to where the map is. youll be able to hear me from both the green gem Sonic has, and from the ceiling and walls. okay so far?

Babylon: got it!

AL: then lets go!...Initializing Digital World Exit Procedure...codename...IDWEP!...proccess started!...transport!

Babylon and Sonic go blank, and after a few second they wake up in the room where they were. they see Blitz right in front of them and Crimson inside some sort of car thingy.

Sonic: heres the visor thing Babylon..., but wheres the map?

Just when Blitz was about to do what Crimson said, he sees Babylon and Sonic wake up!

Blitz: Crimson, they woke up!...oh, heres the map, it just popped out of knowhere, it looked important so i held on to it.

Blitz hands over the map, when he hears a voice come from nowhere

AL: you guys ok?

Babylon: thank Blitz...yeah were fine AL. guys that voice is AL

Sonic: hes gonna help us get outta here

Babylon puts on the Visualizer and sees AL next to him, but like a ghostly human figure.

Babylon: cool, i can see you.

AL: then follow the red dot on the map, it should be blinking and moving, but dont ask why, or how. ill be floating up here, so keep the Visualizer on.

Babylon and Sonic hop inside the car as well as Blitz ( i have permission)

Sonic: so we ready to go? heres the map

Sonic hands the map to Crimson.

Eddie understands Janis's signal and moves the shuttle to the transport area.

Eddie: (thinks) That's odd. I wonder why he didn't respond. Something must be wrong or he's doing it for a reason.

Eddie lands the shuttle and meets Janis.

Eddie: (waves) Hey. I'm sure you remember me not too long ago.

Eddie understands Janis's signal and moves the shuttle to the transport area.

Eddie: (thinks) That's odd. I wonder why he didn't respond. Something must be wrong or he's doing it for a reason.

Eddie lands the shuttle and meets Janis.

Eddie: (waves) Hey. I'm sure you remember me not too long ago.

Eugene sighs. "I suppose I shall never learn your secrets, oh well. I am also pretty much done here, I guess now we just see whether or not it actually works. Heh...so long as we don't cause a resonance cascade, I'll be fine."

"C" shakes his head. "You seriously need a life. Can we just get in this thing and go now, or what?"

"You know, you wouldn't be able to criticize my lack of social interaction if you yourself didn't get involved in the areas I am referring to."

"Do you even realize how idiotic you soiund right now?"

"More than you realize...."

Eddie gets out of the shuffle but makes sure that Lyra is with him as he puts on his visor.

Lyra: Did you see the way he acted?

Eddie: (thinks) Yeah. Something must be wrong with him. (taps Janis) Hey, man. What's wrong?

"The other guy." Nods Marcus. "I just got the all clear from Janis. That pyramid base is, in fact, where he's supposed to be, so I guess everything is working as perfectly as could be planned!" He gestures to the transporter. "After you all. I built it, I'll go last so I can deactivate it on the way down so nobody can get a pressurized suit and get back up here to find all the horrible things that have been done."sonicphc

Lyra: Neither am I. You should ask Marcus about this. I suggest that you stay behind with him.

Eddie: (thinks) That's what I was thinking as well. (comes up to Marcus and looks at him closely) Wait. You look familiar. Have we met?

"The other guy." Nods Marcus. "I just got the all clear from Janis. That pyramid base is, in fact, where he's supposed to be, so I guess everything is working as perfectly as could be planned!" He gestures to the transporter. "After you all. I built it, I'll go last so I can deactivate it on the way down so nobody can get a pressurized suit and get back up here to find all the horrible things that have been done."sonicphc

"C" rolls his eyes. "Jeez, just go already. I'm sick and tired of sitting here. Try to be a bit more active next time." He walks into the teleporter.

Eugene taps Eddie on the back. "Don't worry, my boy, I also contributed to this machine, I can personally guarantee everything is alright. Just relax, and enjoy the ride." He smiles, and gives Eddie a "Thumbs up" sign. He walks over to Marcus. "I must admit that you proved yourself quite capable there. Of course, I can only take, err....80 percent of the credit, but you didn't do too bad there. You know, you've got quite a bit of potential there, if you ever get interested in the ACTUAL research and development career, I mean, without homicidal robots and whatnot, look me up. You'd be a welcome addition to my team. And with that, I'll see you topside...er...downside...where are we again?" He enters the teleporter.

He finds himself in a dark room, there is a dripping from the top, making a small puddle in the center of the room. "Well...this is the most messed up pyramid I've ever been to...."

A speaker is heard. "Welcome Eugene, Welcome. I see that you've finally caught up to my design with the prototype teleporter."

Eugene looks up, and shakes his head. "Are you kidding....? That idiot Egg-Head is here? Man, no one actually goes away these days." He smiles, knowing that he's just purposefully antagonizing his old collegue.

The speaker booms from the large amount of sound. "YOU BLASPHEMOUS FOOL! YOU WERE ALWAYS JEALOUS OF MY INTELLIGENCE. YOU WERE TOO AFRAID TO ACCEPT MY WORK!"

"Yeah, in fact you're right. I was afraid, mostly because YOUR work had already been done. So I was afraid of looking like a moron. Seriously, it's like re-developing the gun again, you gotta catch up there Egg-Brain."

"YOU!!!.....YOU LITTLE....."

"Now now Eggy, don't want to lose our temper again do we? You know, if you had tried Yoga every now and again, I bet you wouldn't have gone bald. I myself still have all of my BEAUTIFUL hair" He swishes his hair back and forth, he doesn't really care that he looks idiotic.

The speaker is silent. Eggman thinks to himself. "Don't worry...you'll learn to respect me soon enough..."

Eugene stares blankly, as he is in a rather befuddling posture. "Err....I was just so happy...to be out....that I got excited...yeah....excited....that'll work...."

Eggman's voice returns. "Oh...looks like my calibrations for his destination was a bit off, so sorry."

"Yeah, that's just like you Eggman, always off on everything."

"LISTEN HERE YOU LITTLE!!!.....Calm yourself....everything will be fine....just breath *Exhaling noises can be heard*".

Eugene turns to Cronic. "As you can see, Eggman was planning for our arrival. He apparantly designed everything based off of the data that Jade sent him, so escape will just be a bit more agitating."

"AGITATING? LET ME TELL YOU WHAT IT IS, IT IS IMPOSSIBLE! IMPOSSIBLE I SAY!".

Eugene sighs. "Oh poor Egg-head. Always planning his defenses, but never actually realizing that he plans on what HE would do in a situation, not what someone else would do. By my calculations, I'll be home before dinner. And I'm actually rather hungry, so I'd suggest you don't hamper my progress Egg-Head." He winks to his one node (yes, the other is still on the space station). It begins to blink.

"That...thing...what is it doing?"

"Oh, don't worry imbessile, it's just sending the others a message that our plan has been compromised."

"How is that even possible, I control all of the telecommunications in this place! You! You're cheating!"

Eugene shakes his head. "And that's exactly why I'm using one of my emergency protocols. I would explain to you how it works, but you'd just copy the technology and call it your own. Let's just say I don't actually focus on soundwaves and other communication mediums."

"You know what, just for that, I think I'm going to speed up your execution date, just hold on and relax while I warm up the neurotoxin emitters."

Eugene rolls his eyes. He whispers to Cronic. "Don't worry, we'll be out of here before then"

The second node on the space station was harvesting the unused materials scattered throughout the station, hoping that it will please Eugene at a later time. A small antenae pops from its hull, and a beeping noise is heard. A frantic "squeaking" noise emits from the node, and it rushes (or hovers...) down the hallway. It reaches the hallway with Marcus and the others. It immediately begins to nudge Marcus' arm repeatedly, and continues its (rather annoying) beeps. It stills itself next to Marcus' face, and waits impatiently, expecting him to do something. A blinking red button is seen on its side.

Crimson glances at the map briefly and presses down on the accelerator. The APC takes off at an amazing speed down a corridor.

"Ha Ha, isn't this sweet?"

Crimson's moment of fun is cut short as something hits the APC. He looks in the rear view targeter and sees two HVT's in pursuit. Hethennoticesa flashing red button labelled "deploy defensive mines" Crimson presses the button, which is followed by a loud explosion and two flaming metal carcasses rolling off in the distance in the rear view targeter.

"I love this thing! What!!??" A huge closed door blocks the corridor ahead. Crimson brakes to a surprisingly smooth halt.

"Looks like we need to find a way to open that door."

Babylon holds on after the explosion and the smoothly screeching halt.

Babylon: whoa that was intense!

Sonic: whats with the wall?

AL: Babylon, my body is just beyond that wall. if we can get to it we wont be far away from the exit.

Babylon: we gotta find a way to get rid of that wall!

Sonic: too bad chaos control isnt here to help.

Babylon: maybe we can combine our powers.

Sonic: hmm.... okay, ill charge it, then you and Blitz charge it together, then crimson ends the combo. if that doesnt work well start all over till it does.

Sonic dashes out of the car and homing attacks the center of the wall. Babylon signals Blitz to do the same.

Babylon: on three, one, two...

Blitz: three!!

he and Babylon charge into the wall. they do the homing attack on it at the same time. then they wait for crimson.

The node lets out an irritated noise. It presses the button against Marcus, and an image screen pops up. It appears to be some sort of communication system, it displays as follows:

"EVD: N002, Emergency Protocol Com Line-007. Issuing orders. Locate target "Marcus" display current message

N002: Error. Violation of Protocol XXX Subsection E. Com Line-007 is for Private use only.

EVD: I am aware of the violation, but I'm giving you permission for a temporary override.

N002: Override complete, execute message.

EVD: Just play this to Marcus: Marcus, we have been compromised. It seems that our friend Egg-head still is operating in his base this side. He has somehow tampered with the coordinates. If you move through the device, you will most certainly end up detained as I have been. I'm not sure what else you could actually DO at the moment, but be advised that if you come down here, you WILL be imprisoned. I've given the commands to my node, and it will follow all of your orders, maybe you can do something with that wolf over there, he seems to be useful. Either way, stay safe. I'm going to spend most of my energy trying to escape, but it wont be easy.

The node lets out a worried tone.

Lyra: Egg-head?

Eddie: (thinks) It could only mean one thing. Dr. Robotnik, or Eggman, has our friends captured. No doubt this was the uneasiness I was experiencing. (speaks to Marcus) So, Marcus. What's the plan?

Dem: This signaljust won't go away. I'll have to find it, and get rid of what ever is causing it.
Cyber: Good luck with that.

Dem heads towards Eggman's pyramid base.

I got tired of waiting for it to end, so I improvised. I don't care if anyone was actually sending a signal, it s a plot device to get him back into the story.

Remember: I included an optional return clause in the end thing.

Babylon: wow, you were right, Sonic, that did work!

Sonic: of course i was right, Im Sonic the Hedgehog!

Babylon: cocky much?

AL: Babylon, can you see that blue door at the end of the hall? thats where my body is. if you can get the door open you can free me, and wellall be out of here.

Babylon: Im on it!

Babylon races to the blue door at the end of the hall. there was an inscription on it. it was kinda dusty so babylon took off the Visualizer and wiped his hand over it. the inscription could be seen clearly.

Babylon: ( reasd ) "In the night they arrive without being fetched. In the day they are gone without being stolen" looks like some sort of riddle.

Sonic: lets see. *reads riddle* hmmm. something that can only be seen at night...the moon? or maybe werewolves?or... The stars?

Babylon: lets try it.

AL: the door only opens by stylus. theres a stylus pen stuck to it somewhere. try pulling the handle!

Sonic pulls the handle and out pops a stylus pen. he uses the stylus and writes "moon" on an empty space anywhere on the door. but nothing happens. Babylon tries it and writes "werewolf" then Sonic tries again but this time writes "stars". the door opens soflty.

inside the door was a human body.

AL: put the helmet on my head and press the red button. that should turn my computer state slowly back into transferrable data then back into my human body. its weird it hasnt aged a bit.

Sonic puts the helmet on the guys body and presses the red button. after a few minutes the body gets up off the floor. AL stretches takes in a few breaths then walks across the hall.

there were seven bubble like pods slightly shifted toward the outside of the space station.

AL: this is our ticket out of here. each pos only holds one person. once youre inside set the coordinates for whereever you want to go. the pos will land on the closest body of water near that place. got it?

Sonic: ah, great, Water!. just what I needed. ( sarcastic )

Babylon: well. i guess this is where we say goodbye huh.

well this is kinda how its gonna end. but since the story goes on back on earth it doesnt mean Crimsons story has to end.

just one thing to SONICPHC = if the RPG carries on. can I end Babylons story here andcontinue with another character??

Blitz: allrigth. im outta here. Babylon...crimson...sonic...AL...I hope to see you all real soon. id stay longer, but my girlfriend Miranda's gotta be worried.

Babylon: wait Blitz, here, take this. if you ever need any help, or just want to say hi. give us a beep.

Babylon hands Blitz a small device.

Blitz: thanks. ill see you real soon.

Babylon: take care.

Blitz walks ovet toward one of the pods and get in. he sets the coordinates and presses the bug yellow button. the pod drops sealing away the spot where it was.

Blitz was now destined for earth...at last.

"Well, I better head back to Jameson." Crimson walks past Babylon at one of the pods. "Oh, wait....I, never mind....it would'nt fit." Crimson chuckles referencing the APC. He opens the pod hatch and walks in, and then turns to face Babylon. "Something tells me that we'll meet again." He closes the hatch.

"Okay, let's see here. Jameson Air Force Base, Fairbanks, Alaska, U.S.A. Nearest landable area: Fort Greely, Fairbanks, Alaska, U.S.A. Good to know." Crimson sets in the coordinates for his destination and sits back as the pod takes off.

Eddie was about to stop Marcus from going, but he was too late as Marcus went into the transporter.

Eddie: (angered) I don't like this one bit. There's no way I'm falling for that.

Lyra: There's nothing you could have done. I'm sure he knows what he's doing.

Eddie: (sighs) You're right. I'm sure he wouldn't need my help even if I were to oblige.

Lyra: I'm sure he would have done the same for you if it were you that went on.

Eddie: True, but he has his own path to follow. (looks around) I don't think there's anything much we can do here. How much time do we have left?

Lyra: If I'm not mistaken, we only have less than an hour of air left.

Eddie: Well, we'll have to land the ship somewhere.

Lyra: Where?

Eddie: Someplace close to military facilities. They'd want to check this out.

Lyra: How do you plan on landing this thing?

Eddie smirked at the question of his new A.I. friend. It took Lyra three seconds to figure out Eddie's sense in his smirking.

Lyra: Ah. I see. Well, you may take me to a that computer over there, and I'll put in the location of where we need to be.

Eddie: (sits near the computer and plugs in his vizor to the computer) It would have to be in a desert. That's usually where most bases are located.

Lyra: (image of Lyra pops up on screen) I hope they believe your story.

Eddie: Heh. Oh I'm sure they'll believe it. (to himself) This has been quite the birthday experience, and it will be so as we land.

Babylon andhis former A.I. friend AL are about to make it back to earth, finally.

Babylon: well, i guess this is it.

AL: that bird guy.

Babylon: yeah, i get the feeling ill see him soon too. same with you.

AL: thanks. its been great knowing you. i never thought hedgehogs would be so fun to be around.

Babylon: well you were just around three. and a bird, so get used to it.

AL: what has changed in these 20 years ive been here.

Babylon: 20 years? well i cant say much considering im only 17, but one thing thats of big importance is that we antropomorphic creatures now have completely the same rights as human, its official. ( i hope this doesnt mess anytihng up )

AL: well thats good to know.

AL and Babylon say theirs final good byes. AL gets ready to leave.

Babylon: hey, wait what about this thing?

AL: you can keep that visualizer, i got some more at home.

AL sets in his coordinates, as does Babylon. the pods shake then begin to move out. they brop and using jet propulsion tech they make their way towards earth.

after about an hour Babylons pod starts shaking strongly. suddenly a loud splashing sound comes from the outside. the top of the pod opens up. Babylon peeps his head out and see hes surrounded by not too deep water. it was a lake very cloes to his house. he jumps on the pods top closing it, then jump toward the edge of the lake, barely making it. he continues forward, and after a while reaches his house. he sees his girlfriend Luna an greets her with a romantic kiss. then he explains everything that happened.

Luna: okay, i belive you.

Babylon: wheres Ascalon? he IS my other self, I have to tell him.

LunaL well Ascalon...isnt here right now.

Babylon: well ill just wait...

Luna: no, i mean he isnt here at all.

Babylon: i dont get it.

Luna: he had this dream where Eggman planned something big from an ancient Pyramid in the desert. he wanted to go alone. he said since you were always helping him, he was afraid he wouldnt be able to learn how to defend himself on his own.

Babylon: I see...i just hope hes okay. he can take care of himself, i know it. this...is his battle.
