Ni No Kuni:Wrath Of The White Witch
Â
-Ni No Kuni is the best JRPG Ive played in years, and a must-play for an RPG fan with a PlayStation 3.
9.4/10-IGN
-The witty, beautiful, and endlessly creative Ni no Kuni is a treasure not to be missed.
9.0/10-Gamespot
-There's something elegant about that mundane taskabout the fact that the first thing you must do in Ni no Kuni is bring home the groceries.
-Kotaku
-This is not to doubt Level-5's JRPG pedigree, which includes the underappreciated Dark Cloud 2 and other hits like Dragon Quest 8 and Rogue Galaxy, but this is something else.
4.5 out of 5 -Joystiq
Â
Ni No Kuni is awesome. :)

Umm...sure. I'll try and kick things off. I've recently gone back through my PS2 backlog and I'm trying to focus on all my RPGs. So far I've tried Shadow Hearts: Covenant and that seemed OK. Next I tried Xenosaga and that was just...weird. It seems very complicated. I tried just the tutorial last night and there's so much crap to remember that I don't know if I can get into it. My time is very limited so I need to play games that I can get into fast. Some of the remaining RPGs on my list are: -Kingdom Hearts 1 & 2 -Dragonquest VIII -FFX -FFXII -Shadow Hearts: From the New World -Grandia 1 & 2 -Dark Cloud My main problem is I lose motivation after playing the same game for a long time. Not that I have ADD, but I just eventually get bored and I quit playing all together and I hate that because I love RPGs despite never really beating one properly and I want to play these games and experience what I always hear everyone else talking about that have beaten them.Kravyn81Seems as if you enjoy shorter games more. You should give Darksiders 1 a chance. I finished it in 19 hours. Held my interest until the end. I sorta get bored if a game drags on too, and DS1 worked just perfectly in game time.
And to add, I would like to see a Rogue Galaxy HD remake. Cell shaded games look great in HD. Dragonquest 8 needs one too.
Ohh nice thread!
So I've been trying to scope out and hunt down a good chunk of the JRPGs on the PS3 and 3DS mainly. I'm also trying to scoop up all the good PSP and DS RPGs before they become even harder to find. I have a huge backlog I'm trying to finish, but after I'm done I'm hoping to get Xenogears from PSN (hopefully its still there). I loved Xenosaga, but I've been very curious about Xenogears ever since I caught wind of it years ago. Can't wait to play it.
Perhaps. Although I would say I like the idea of long games, but I just don't have the time or will power to finish them. I think the only "long" RPG I finished was the first KotOR on Xbox which took me about forty or fifty hours if memory serves me correct.Seems as if you enjoy shorter games more. Guess what game I got in my hands right now bro. .Good thread man.
Reminds me that I need to start my replay of Persona 3FES sometime soon.
I've also played a lot of Skyrim (I think it's okay).

:o
Very nice!
What I tell ya ? ;)I am finishing up Super Mario RPG (got the supersuit and rare scarf).
Next I am going to go onto Xenoblade. I have tried Xenoblade before and I don't get the praise. Why is it praised so much when the combat isn't very good, like Xenogears and turn based / ATB JRPGs? Turn based JRPGs are the best. Anyhow, I only got a few hours into it before, does it get better? Also, I sure wish there were mechs in it like Xenogears.
Like the thread, Ill be sure to visit here from time to time. Right now im catching up on some jrpgs that ive somehow missed. Currently playing Tales of the Abyss on 3ds and im almost done with it, what a great game really. Then i have Tales of Graces f, Tales of Vesperia and Eternal Sonata in my sights.
o yea, currently in the middle of Persona 4 Golden as well, but it was so good i kinda played the crap out of it and just have to take a break from it.
Xenogears is a one of a kind. . Xenogears is worth your money man.I am finishing up Super Mario RPG (got the supersuit and rare scarf).

I think I put about 120 + hours into it. On the GBA I put well over 160 hours into FF Tactics. I just don't have the patience for those games anymore either. Unless they have a good story and good combat.Seems as if you enjoy shorter games more. You should give Darksiders 1 a chance. I finished it in 19 hours. Held my interest until the end. Nice thread, anyone here like the souls games?

So, ehh, you would be considered wrong.
Also, Demon's and Dark Souls are both the very best games within the last 6+ years.Â

Those aren't what defines a RPG otherwise yearly CoD could be considered one

Recently loving Ni No Kuni and it's amazing soundtrack, as well as Guild Wars 2 and Dark Souls eating away all my time :D
Oh, and since this here is off topic as well:
THIIIIIS! IIIIS! AAASPAAARAAAAGHUUUUSSS!!!!!! (That was the correct movie quote, amirite?)
Oh, so in Clone of Duty games you have Hit Points now, I see....
If you're not qualified to speak on the matter, then don't. Âsoundcellx
All games use algorithms in their programming to determine various values ("stats"), ie, hit points, accuracy, speed, defense, attack, etc. The stats and upgrades that you speak of are inherent to a lot of genres, not RPGs. Trying to confine the genre into a neat little box is honestly silly at this point considering how mixed every genre is and the bastardization of the original meaning of RPG (ala pen and pager Dungeons and Dragons). What you consider an RPG is by every means constrictive due to linear storytelling.
Of course none of that degrades the worth of these games or how fun they are.
My favorite rpg Dragon Quest VIII. Currently playing Ni no Kuni and enjoying it. PSN Store is having sale on the classic Final Fantasies, and I plan on buying all the ones I don't currently own.Â
Ehh, I wouldn't consider them rpg's.[QUOTE="ristactionjakso"]
