Lol it's a BAD idea to sweep the Hawks the 2nd round. Cleveland did it last year and Orlando did it this year. Oops.

Mister__Awesome
I think facing 2 series of weak opponents did not prepare them for a formidable opponent.
I dont really think it has to do with facing the easier teams in rounds 1 and 2. They beat the Celtics in the playoffs last season and 3 out of 4 times during the regular season. I really don't know why they lost both of these games.
Only thing I found kinda strange is that the Magic didn't attempt as many 3s as they usually do. Maybe they were hesitant since they were always behind and wanted to attack the rim instead but I really think they should have tryed more 3s. I mean thats what theyre good at so....other than that I don't know.

Yeah I know, I just thought it was a cool little factoid.
And that's the Celtics defense at work. Defense wins championships and we see why now. Live by the 3, die by the 3.

Helps that they are not doubling Howard as often as the Hawks and Bobcats did, so the Celtics perimeter defense is staying close to the three point shooters.Atlanta-itis. Sweeping them is the worse, gave them too much offtime and got rusty.
If Magic win the next one they have a very slim chance to comeback, but is unlikely I just dont see anyone on the team with the mental toughness to do that.
So far it's looking like another Celtics/Lakers finals which should be very interesting.
But seriously this post season I have been off with my predictions . Now the Celtics could easily sweep the Magic.
Yeah....I dont understand why teams "play a lot harder" post season. They should be doing that all the time :| The reason being is because it is a long 82 game schedule. Not saying that most NBA players don't have motivation, but if you are like the Celtics who are older and need rest aren't going to put 100% effort into each in every game just because you can't physically. Its a lot easier for a veteran team to play a seven game series with a day break in between and sometimes three days to turn it on.[QUOTE="wildcat2000"]

They beat them last year because Garnett wasn't playing. Had Pierce made the free throw shots last year in game 1 or 2 I believe they would have won that series, but thats niether here nor there. The Celtics are a great team when healthy. I mean they started off what 27-5 this year? They tailed off because of injuries and because Doc rested a lot of them, so that they could be ready for the playoffs. On top of that you are getting 100% percent from Rasheed now where as you weren't in the regular season. They are playing great defense and like Mister said they aren't doubling Howard so that cuts off the three point shooters from doing their thing. Garnett is snuffing lewis out he has no answers for Garnett right now. On top of that you have a point guard who has improved his shooting and is slowly but surely becoming the best point gaurd in the league. Big differences from last year.Well the SN guy said for sure the Magic won't go down 2-0 at home, wonder if he's still going to be there or that Cowherd comes back. X360PS3AMD05I love Cowherd he better come back, we share the same love for Tom Brady lol. Magic have some internal issues, Jameer thinks he's a SG and Rashard, well did he get traded or released? I haven't seen Rashard Lewis. Vince Carter needs to step up if they want to make it a series.
^Lol, is that a sick sign of sarcasm or were you watching a totally different game from me? Rashard just shot g-od awful. I think they need to stop chucking threes and shoot midrange, go to the post more(help dwight!)
Playing that way, Orlando won't get anywhere.
But they have the players and the talent to beat the Celtics, there's no doubt about it. They did beat them in 7 games, IN Boston last postseason, one of the very rare Game 7 home loss in Celtics history. They can still beat them, but they'll need to turn it up a notch, or three.
That being said, the Celtics have had a decent series against the Heat (two good games, two OK games and one great game) and a superb series against Cleveland (One very bad game, obviously, but 4 great, great games). Big props to Doc Rivers for keeping his team focused.
People keep bringing up last season, ya know..w hen Garnet was out, and the team suffered from injury constantly. Last year doesn't matter at all. Even if you want to bring up last year, all your really saying is a wounded celtics team still almost beat them, and now this year they're healthy so it's no contest.Playing that way, Orlando won't get anywhere.

Along the same lines, one could tell that Orlando has been playing like crap, Boston out of their minds and they still only won by a combined 7 points. Granted, it was on the road, but the Celts are a very good road team and a very average home team. Let's just say that tonight's game will be very interesting.
Please, can we just start the Finals?rockguy92I expected the Nuggets - Lakers to be good, but it didn't happen so now i'm not even surprised it's been this boring..........looks like you will be fine if you didn't even bother watching basketball until the Finals.
you see the guy sitting next to them with the eyebrow(s), yikes!hahaha, van gundy talking about those guys wearing the lakers jerseys there and called em clowns...LMAO i found that funny

Well congrats to the Celtics. They played yet another great game. I don't think a lot of people expected them to be this good this postseason, but they believe and that is why they succeed. Big props.
On another note though. Can someone please shut Jeff Van Gundy up? He's exceedingly annoying and, hearing him talk, it seems to me he understands basketball as much as my doorknob would.
I will say one thing: Reshard Lewis did a "magic" trick...he disappeared, LOL!ASK_StoryAh thats better than my, "Did he get traded" lmao. Celtics just manhandled the two best teams in the NBA in CLE and ORL, LAL as much as some homer fans want to deny, better watch out.

15 points in the entire series (6 in Game 1, 5 in Game 2, and 4 in Game 3)... yeah, that's looking like a disappearing act. That said, I don't think Garnett is getting enough credit here. In the last series, it was Antwan Jamison that KG had to guard, and it the results were very similar. Also, Orlando's frontline as a whole was just horrible.
This has been shocking to me, and I actually had Boston winning this series in the manner that they have thus far... just not this easily. lol The Celtics' toughness and resolve continue to improve and become more impressive by the game, it seems. To have simply outplayed the Cavs and Magic the way that they have the past six games, it's been a sight to behold, to say the least. All year, it's been a question of whether or not everything could come together in time for the Celtics, and now it looks like the timing was as perfect as you can make it.
One more thing... since I don't think the guy is getting enough credit, I'm going to say it:
I think Doc Rivers could possibly be the best coach in the league. I know that sounds crazy with Phil Jackson still coaching in the playoffs as well, but Rivers has played his hand as well as any coach can not only this year, but the past three years with this team and the challenges that have been presented. We could possibly be talking about a three-peat if the team was at full heatlh last year. Just something to think about... :P
Yea celtics beating Magic. But don't look down upon Suns or Lakers. Celtics most likely will go to the Finals.
But NO WAY! they will beat Lakers nor the Suns. Lakers or Suns all the way!
Yeah, for about 90% of the playoffs your right. The only thing that will be memorable for me about this year's playoffs is the Suns finally getting by the Spurs, and Lebron's Cavs choking in the 2nd round. So unless the Finals shape up to be a 7 game series with each game being close and a lot of fighting and scrapping for the win, it will be a let down year.Play offs have been crap this year.

Honestly, I think Reshard Lewis is the biggest reason they're losing. When he scores 20+ points, they're tough to beat. The Magics effort this series has been pathetic
kozzy1234
Sure, we have to give Celtics credit for their D, but still, Lewis is 6'10! Stop shooting threes all the time and go in the paint once in awhile!

But that's how Lewis and most of the rest of the Magic play. It's one thing to suggest attacking the basket more, but 3-point shooting is Orlando's bread-and-butter, and it's what has gotten the team to this point and to the Finals last year. It just so happens that their way of play has been greatly exposed and taken advantage of by Boston's defense, and it's kinda tough to change your game on the fly and be successful with it this late in the season.
Being a 6'10 three point shooter is often considered a luxury for the regular season and maybe the early parts of the playoffs, but once the later rounds come, it usually turns into something looks like a detriment to that player. :P
