If I remember right, No_Hablo_Ingles actually lives in Atlanta. So that's actually legit I guess. He just never cheered before because, well it's the Hawks. You know their history. On the other hand, this is textbook hopping on the bandwagon (despite him living in the area) considering they've finally advanced. Plus it gives him added incentive to cheer against the Bulls.DJ_Magneto
Not jumping any bandwagon, simply rooting against the Bulls. celtics would have no problem against the Hawks.

I don't understand you guys... I've literally stayed with the same two teams ALL YEAR. I stayed with the Rockets when they were the last (I believe) win-less team. I stayed with the Rockets when Yao got hurt yet again... I stayed with the Rockets when they couldn't get the Superstar they basically promised by the trade deadline. I was a Rockets fan when they had Steve Francis. I was a Rockets fan when they got my hopes up with TMac + Yao which NEVER got out the first round of the playoffs. I've been a Celtics supporter when I started watching Basketball, since they are the city of my birth (I support all Mass. teams of sports I watch). I'm not old enough to have watched Larry Bird, but I am old enough to remember when it was Paul and Walker (I think that's his name), and the following years of failure to either get out the first round or be among the worse teams in BB. I support the Hawks in this series like I support each team that plays against the Yankees/Jets/Giants/Cowboys/etc.

Easy to stick with a crappy team when you have a backup good team.

[QUOTE="DarkOfKnight"][QUOTE="sergemyster8"]Damn, I wanted Magic-Bulls, Hawks-Bulls just sounds boring:|.JML897

I like it. I think the Hawks match up better than the Magic would have. But in the end I don't think either would have won anyway.

The Bulls can't stop Howard and if the Magic get their 3-pointers going the Bulls would be in a lot of trouble. I'm a lot more optimistic vs. the Hawks.

Not to mention Rose driving the lane against Howard is scary as a Bulls fan. I think he's been hurt twice trying to do that.

The Magic don't have much beyond Howard and that showed against Atlanta, sometimes they live and die by the three. Howard played all 48 ,mintues twice in the first round and at time got little help, the Magic have lost the last 3 games to the Bulls the lone win coming in december while Vince Carter was still there. even that win only 1 guy was really good off the bench and that was Bass and that was one game. Howard scored 23.3 points and 12.3 rebounds in 3 games against the Bulls, they can do fine against him. Rose averaged 25 in 4 games. The Bulls would have done fine and taken the series in 6. BTW, Rose has average 25.3 against ATL with a lower FG%. 38.5 to 46.5. I am not saying the Hawks can stop Rose, but they have been better at it than the Magic.

[QUOTE="Arbiterisl33t69"]I'm so sick and tired of the Miami cHeat, and can't stand Lebron James.. Yes I am a Lakers fan, yes my favorite player is Kobe, and I know LBJ and Kevin Durant and a few other big name players are a bit better than him now, Kobe's getting old and the injuries aren't helping (but he did show some Number 8 Afro magic Tuesday), but they lack the willpower and competition Kobe always had. MJ said it himself, Kobe is better than Lebron. Kobe doesn't care in what team James is, as long as he wins. That's what I like to see in a player, and Kobe chooses to play AGAINST the best, not WITH the best. Mad respects for D. Wade, though. I've always liked him, great player, and I have nothing against Chris Bosh, but everytime I see him it's like I'm watching Jurassic Park. I'm sorry but he looks just like a Raptor (lol)TH1Sx1SxSPARTA
well to be fair bosh did use to play with the raptors lol

They had the 14th best record in the NBA. If they were an east team they would have been the 6th seed.

Antoine Walker was an all-star, if I was a Celtic fan then I would've definitely remembered his name.

In his prime he was one of the more well-known guys in the league, he was even on the cover of sports games.

When he was a All Star on the Celtics I was... maybe 11, possibly younger? So sorry if I can barely remember (because it turns out I did get his name right) his name while I worked my way through Middle and High School learning things that I thought was more important:roll:

The Rockets are pretty much the definition of mediocre. Mediocre doesn't mean bad, it means "meh".

They are not mediocre, even when given the nicest definition of the word. Offensively they were among the best, they scored more points off TOs then any other team in the NBA finished with the 15th best record, and they did all that without their best player being healthy. They probably will be next year since they fired Rick though...

I know you're a numbers guy. You like basing opinions on stats. Houston actually ended up with the 14th best record by one game over the Knicks. Mediocre - of only ordinary or moderate quality; neither good nor bad. From the Latin word "mediocris" meaning "in a middle state" or "at middle height." There are 30 teams in the league. I'd say 14/15 is right smack dab in the middle. Just sayin'... :P

I know what the word means, however, they are far from mediocre, especially considering the fact they were a top teams after the All Star Break. Their Record says a lot, but not enough. Often their loses came in the final minutes against the best in the NBA. Their record says they are barely in the top half, their play suggest that they are top 10.

Do you think Howard is going to leave Orlando when he gets a chance? I know about every team in the league has room for a DPOTY and dominant young center. I would say more teams will go nuts over him then when Lebron was shopping around.

So first NHI says that the Rockets played like a top 10 team even though their record didn't show it.
His proof? The records against other teams, which is exactly the thing he said you shouldn't judge the Rockets by.

The Cavs were 3-1 against the Knicks, nobody would say the Cavs are a better team.

Did you see my reasoning for why they are a top 10? Did you actually read it? "Their Record says a lot, but not enough. Often their loses came in the final minutes against the best in the NBA. " Overall record means very little. The Hawks played the terrible east teams twice as often as the Rockets. Head to Head match ups however does say a lot in saying who is better.

This is rather simple to understand. Overall records deals with A > B > C > D... which is a logical fallacy in sports, head to head match ups however is a much better indicator since it is a simple A > C

A loss is a loss is a loss. Good teams find a way to win close games. Otherwise they are bad or oh idk what is that word im looking for. Mediocre.

So there is no such thing as a good team, since all teams eventually lose close games, or the Rockets are a good team because they found a way to win more close games (less the 5 points) then the Spurs.

Because the Spurs blew so many opponents out. Just stop. It's sad.

That was the point. Your "Good teams find a way to win..." comment makes little sense. Teams like the heat lost a majority of their close games. Does that make them mediocre? I think good teams have to learn how to beat all kinds of teams, something teams like the Bulls/Celtics/Lakers and yes the Rockets have done. The Hawks are a great half court team, but can't really compete against solid fast break teams, thus the reason they lost to the Rockets both times.

Same two. I simply don't understand how people suggest I root for more.
