So Mario Lemieux made a statement and cried that the NHL didn't punish the Islanders enough for the beat down they gave the Penguins the other night. Sorry Mario... but as long as you employ the biggest CHEAP SHOT artist in the NHL Matt Cooke who is the king of hits with intent to injure... shut your cake hole. Take your medicine big boy!

Cooke's cheap hit on Fedor Tyutin the other night. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kv0cOcJXFv4

^ Fo Sho! Big Win against the Flyers, perfect time to get on a roll, only 3 points separate 3-9 in the West.

The Islanders are scoring goals at will, 9-3 win, followed by a 7-6 win tonight.

What the Islanders pulled the other night were far worse than anything Cooke has ever done. Bringing guys up with the intent to do exactly what happened is absolutely ridiculous. Like one blogger said, "Matt Cooke often plays dirty and illegally, but he's never started Wrestlemania 25." Tyutin makes eye contact with Cooke, turns his back, then gets hit. Cooke shouldn't have hit him, but that's one of his weaker shots.

Kris Versteeg traded to the Flyers for a 1st and 3rd rounder this year.

http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=353885

So...we traded Viktor Stalburg, Chris DiDiminico and Phillipe Paradis for a late 1st round pick and a 3rd rounder. I don't get it..a 20 goal scorer, 24 years old, so he fit this team...was he trouble in the dressing room? There were rumors that he really didn't like T.O...he was on a big hockey market in Chicago, so he should handle it, unless it was just the team. Now in another hockey market. Oh well, like all Leafs, he'll get hot and score 10 goals or so to end the year, do great in the playoffs and continue next year. Unless Burke is flipping it + Kabrele/Jiggy for something...

Flyers got a lot better..even more of a favorite in the East now. They made the deal because they are in "win now". Well..and a couple more years.

Guess what team leads the league with the most fighting majors in the NHL? The Penguins with 61. So let's not make like they are some finesse team now.

Everyone knew this game had the chance to have fireworks after the Pens basically were laughing and disrespecting the Islanders after Dipietro was dropped by Johnson and Talbot nailed Blake Comeau with a borderline cheap hit. Teams don't forget games like that... especially if the other team is laughing and disrespecting them.

The Islanders or any team can bring up the whole farm system to fight if they want to. Not only did they abuse the Pens in the fights... but they abused them on the scoreboard. I think Pens fans and Mary-o Lemieux are just being a bunch of cry babies because they got their @$$e$ kicked from pillar to post in that game. And I'm a Rangers fan and can't stand either team... but I have no problem when a team pays back another team like this. It ain't so fun when the shoe's on the other foot. And Matt Cooke is total garbage and bad for the League. He's actually lucky he wasn't playing in that game because he would have been a huge target too.

Interesting that Mike Fisher got traded to Nashville. I'm sure Carrie is happy about it... And though I like how the Flyers traded for Versteeg, I think Burke made out like a bandit in acquiring a 1st rounder with that.

Yep, he said he didn't feel any pain, but his feet just keep slipping around in the skates. Apparently over the course of his career, he has had 300 pairs of skates made by some guy in Canada, but none fixed his problem.

On a side note, looks like your Sabres are really starting to pick up the slack, 2 points out of a playoff spot. I watched that shootout yesterday, probably the best I've seen (10 rounds I think).

Amazing goal. Thought he'd be done for the night after being hit by Chara. Good for Kessel, 2 great goals, and a lot of other chances. Versteeg played about 18 minutes and a -1, no points..no surprising:P Burke admitted that he just 'never fit' with the team. Still don't get it, but the first rounder could be used in a deal with Jiggy or Kaberle. Kaberle to the Bruins? NOW he wants to go? I'm hoping Wheeler and pick (2nd or 3rd round) come out way. Some fans are delusional and think Lucic or Krejci could come here or get our pick back. Don't see it. Joel Quennville is in hospital. Hope he's okay.

Giguere is out. Reimer in. Odd. They say it's the flu. Twitter hopes it's a trade or he has another groin injury. They wouldn't have him on the bench if he's traded, and wouldn't trade him now with Gustavsson out.

Kessel scores again!:D

I'm convinced now, that one thing that would greatly help this team is a new goaltender. Budaj is pathetic, 2 on 1, D-man's taking away the pass, there is only one part of the net that the shooter can score on, freakin commit to the shooter, no need to worry about the guy being covered. Honestly I don't know why after 9 years, he's still here, he had one good stretch (like March 07) and other than that he hasn't been anything special. He doesn't even make a decent back-up.

I read a stupid rumor on some guys blog (who should not be listened to) that they were talking to Van. about Schneider. I'm sorry...that won't happen. Maybe Jiggy? Oh wait, he's hurt again! Vokoun? Great win tonight by the Leafs. 6 out, and prevent the Sabers from getting in. Lupul since coming over: 3 assists . Kessel since then: 3 goals. They play on the same line. I see a connection!

lol I wish. I'd love to get Schneider, but the Nucks won't trade him, their goaltending as a whole has been a big part of their success (plus it doesn't hurt to have the Sedin twins). But he's the type of goaltender that I would definitely like to pursue in the off-season, a back-up with real starting potential.

I wouldn't mind Vokoun, I'd just prefer a younger guy. I feel like Vokoun would be better off on a team with nearly all the pieces other than strong goaltending, and this team is far away from that. But right now I would take anyone other than Budaj and Anderson (they should call up an AHL goalie).

Interesting that Mike Fisher got traded to Nashville. I'm sure Carrie is happy about it... And though I like how the Flyers traded for Versteeg, I think Burke made out like a bandit in acquiring a 1st rounder with that.Los9090

Nashville's local paper's website had the headline, "Predators acquire Carrie Underwood's husband." lol They did change it later though. Has the standings in the West ever been this close at this point in the season? Although some teams have some games in hand, 5 of them are tied right now at 68 points. Third place is ahead of 10 place by a measly 4 points. First and last in the Pacific are separated by only 2 points. Three point games from shootouts certainly has its hand in the standings, but it is what it is lol. Usually I really care about what place the Sharks finish in, but this year I just want them to get in and play well down the stretch lol.

OOohhh man that was sick! Rangers take a 3-2 lead with 3 Minutes left, then a minute later the Kings tie it up on a wrap-around, 4 minute penalty against the Kings into OT and then 2 minutes in the Rangers get a penalty so it was 3 on 3  Lost in the SO but on a back to back it was fine, I think that's 11 straight games that the Kings have gotten a point :D

Yeah, unfortunately for the 'Hawks.

I don't like watching games of teams I kinda like, but I have to root for them to lose.

It gives me an uneasy feeling, I like the Kings.

They need to stop getting points. :P

That was a really good game. Good action and good hitting. Rangers are deadly once they get to the shootout. Zuccarello has scored in like 5 out of 6 tries in SO's.

Avs trade Anderson to the Sens for Elliot, guess both teams are seeing if a new goalie will spark change. Not a high risk trade, so I'm not upset, we'll see if it works, but right now any sort of change was much needed.

Once again Budaj keeps his job...

You're stuck with Budaj once again.

Maybe the Avs need to call up a goalie to backup Elliot?

Tomaš Kaberle is going to Boston in exchange for prospect Joe Colborne and Boston's first round draft pick in this year's draft and a conditional pick

Well, we have two first round picks this year, and a few prospects.

I like it. I think one of the first rounders gets traded for someone well-known that can play on the first line. Colborne is a big guy, plays center to. We'll see how he works. Good luck to Kaberle.

In a late night somewhat blockbuster deal, the Av's trade Chris Stewart, Kevin Shattenkirk, and a conditional 2nd round pick to St. Louis for Erik Johnson, Jay McClement, and a conditional 1st rounder. WOW! At this rate, TSN will have nothing to cover for their annual TradeCentre show lol.

WTF...Trading Shattenkirk was stupid, he's a future star d-man...Chris Stewart never really panned out, so I could care less about him. It will be nice to have Erik Johnson, we needed a big guy on our D. Idk, would have rather parted ways with Liles than Shattenkirk.

That's a deal by two desperate teams IMO. Giving up on Johnson, but apperently that was the price to get a power forward like Stewart. He WAS doing good earlier this year, but I never really followed up on his stats.

Kessel on the market?

No..just no. That would be Burke basically saying "I screwed up really bad, And gave up to much for him". They wouldn't get anything CLOSE to what they gave up. Probably one first rounderor a 2nd liner, based on how he's played, IMO.

Wow, hockey73, Anderson is standing on his head against the Leafs! An incredible debut for the Sens..unfortunately. Not to be outdone by Reimer.

Shootout!

Tomorrow. IDK what channel, CBC here in Canada. Maybe NBC.

Sens win. What a game for Anderson. Reimer was great, not as busy. Nice job Kulemin. 'Canes lost, so 7 points back.

I f***ing raged so hard tonight.

If the Sens are smart they are going to keep Anderson in Ottawa. Kessel should have won that game in OT.

Seems like Anderson plays great when he starts out with a new team. Lets see how long he'll last in Ottawa

Man, Vancouver is getting nailed with injuries....Dan Hamhuis is skating but Kevin Bieksa is out for 3 weeks with a busted bone in his foot.
