I agree with you. Asham is dirty, Crosby was an idiot today...really, everyone was. The most surprising player of the game: Matt Cooke. No PM that game. Wow. Guess he has turned the corner. Hope the Flyers sweep them. The NHL should have no reason to defend Crosby anymore and should understand why there is so much ire against him. He started that whole thing by knocking that guy's glove away.

Finally a game that doesn't go in OT. Thought the Bruins had a rough first two periods but Washington played well. I would say the Bruins best period this series was the 3rd. Aside from the goal we gave up.
James Neal gets a 1 game suspension for headhunting two different Flyers. Really Shanahan? Aaron Asham gets 4 games for a crosscheck to the face, which of course would put one of us in jail for assault.

The NHL and Shanahan need to due a better job. If Torres just suspended that will be every series this play where there has either been a fine or suspension (SJ and STL). That is down right unacceptable. I understand it is the playoffs and emotions run high but players must stop crossing the line. Personally the whole "injury" being taking into account when ruling suspension is not a good. A player didn't get hurt so lets just give a slap on the wrist, its not getting the players attention.
Shanahan might still have concussion syndrome because he pretty much blows at his job. He's basically giving out suspensions on whether or not a player gets hurt from the hit. It should be mostly about the INTENT to Injure on a hit and if it's a dirty/cheap shot play... and be less about if there's an injury on a play. Players get hurt on CLEAN hits all the time, so it's not really a good bar to judge things by all the time.
S.Weber getting off after his head to turnbuckle WWE head slam into the glass only getting a fine is beyond laughable, Carkner a goon put in the lineup for a pre meditated attack and cheap shot jumping of B.Boyle only gets 1 game, All the Pens /Flyers garbage treated lightly... and then Carl Hagelin who's a rookie who plays a clean game hits D.Alfredsson (who is a fellow Swede and hero of Hagelin's) with what was basically a glancing elbow off the arm and then to the head get 3 games!!! WTF is Shanahan smoking? Alfredsson has had a concussion in the past and because he's out the suspension is longer? Shanny really does not understand the type of hit/situation that is suspendible. Like the hit on Hossa where 'leaving your feet' and launching into a guys head like a missile is one of the most dangerous plays in hockey right now and needs to be suspendible. That head shot was way nastier and cheaper than the Haglein hit on Alfredsson imo.

Ya know, after learning that guy has been suspended 3 times in the past year and he doesn't really bring much to the table besides gooning it up, i don't see the big deal in thinking about a lifetime ban. Sure they didn't kill or paralyze anyone, but it could still happen with stuff like that, i'll say suspend um for the rest of the season. Of course the NHL owns the team, so that aint gonna happen.
The problem with the NHL right now is they are allowing too many no talent goons take runs at skilled players and there's not a strict enough punishment for it after a cheap shot. Watching NHL games won't be any good if the Stars keep dropping. It would be like the NFL losing star QB's and watching scrub backup QB's every week. No thanks.
As I said before. The NHL and Shanahan need to drop the "injury" being taken into account. Just suspend the player. Hand out long term suspensions. Matt Cooke hasn't had any issues since his what 30 or 20 game suspension. Start laying down the law and lay it down hard so people get the message.
Flyers/Pens is embarrassing with all those goals being scored. The best 2 series in the East so far has been Bruins/Caps and Rangers/Sens. Lundqvist and Anderson are coming up huge in net.

The closk even favored them at the end. This series has been too even. I don't think I can handle anymore close games.
Just remember, the longer this series goes own the more tired the Caps will get. Caps need to finish the series by Game 6 or they may be in trouble. They are showing signs of exhaustion. That being said the Bruins need to figure out Holtby or they lose.
