Giancarlo Stanton is a monster.

I know. I remember arguing with my friend who is a Braves fan who kept insisting that Heyward would be better, and I kept telling him that Stanton's power would make him a better major leaguer. The whole thing with Heyward coming up was his vision, but he certainly hasn't shown it at this level. He's a strikeout machine.Giancarlo Stanton is a monster.

[QUOTE="worlock77"][QUOTE="TonyDanzaFan"]Jesus christ, Josh Hamilton is a BEAAAAST. I hope he hits 62 and breaks Maris' record. I'm a Yankees fan btw, but Skip Bayless said it best on thursday. He could've been the GREATEST player of all time." I kind of agree. If he played at this level, without the drugs, he very well could have been. TonyDanzaFanI'm pretty sure Maris' record has already been beaten. -_- I'm talking about the REAL record. Three juicers don't count in my book. 61 is still the real record. And i'm talking about the REAL record. Babe Ruth - 60 in 154. 8) Somebody tell all these first place teams they are supposed to start dropping in the standings!
The Dodgers with the best record in the Majors? I'm very content with that. Ever since Kemp cooled down, and Ethier some what did also, the rest of the team has been picking up the slack. A.J. Ellis has proved that he was the correct choice for starting catcher. Loney needs to pick up his average. He's always been a batter who hits for average, but he just had a horrible start to the season. I think the team's biggest surprise, or surprises, are Ted Lilly and Chris Capuano, who are both 5-0. I don't think anybody expected that. I certainly didn't.
Also, I'm still waiting for the 2011 NL Cy Young winner to arrive to the team. Seems like he never reported to the team on opening day. Maybe he forgot what day the season started?
[QUOTE="Master_Live"]Ridiculous. Too premature to call Freeman>Heyward/Hanson. GamerForcaNo it's not. I think it is a little premature to call Freeman better than Heyward (Not going to compare him with Hanson). I think Heyward will be the better player eventually, but Freeman will still be really good. (I have no clue how Freeman hit those two doubles yesterday)
Ridiculous. Too premature to call Freeman>Heyward/Hanson. Master_LiveI'm clearing speaking as of right now. Both Hanson and Heyward have one more year of experience, and Freeman has still out performed them. I'm more speaking of Heyward than Hanson though. Hanson has been pretty good, but Heyward has really struggled to live up to the "Next Griffey" comparison he was getting before his rookie year.

Obviously Heyward has more potential to be better, but so far he hasn't put it together, while Freeman was great as a rookie, and is even better this year. In fact, if it wasn't for his teammate, he would've won ROY. But my point was, both Heyward and Hanson were hyped up by everybody in baseball, while Freeman was only known by the Braves fans and the diehard baseball fans who follow prospects, and so far Freeman has outplayed them. I'm mainly speaking of Heyward though. Hanson has been a pretty good pitcher, and he'll only get better. But I was just referring to hype.
Kemp has REALLY cooled down. I mean, he hasn't hit a home run since April! And I don't think it's fair to dis Kershaw like that. He's been pretty good. He has a .90 WHIP, a 2.56 ERA, and 41 strikeouts this season. Wins/Loss are meaningless. Look at Felix's CY Season 2 years ago. You can't control run support. The Dodgers with the best record in the Majors? I'm very content with that. Actually Heyward doesn't have a full year of experience over Freeman, as Freeman was called up in the September of Heyward's rookie season. Freeman has a prettier swing than Heyward, though Heyward's swing looks better than it did last season. I don't see a comparison as premature. Which player will be better is still up in the air though.
MLB fires Shyam Das, the arbitrator who overturned Ryan Braun's drug suspension Technically, he was right.Master_Live
lolwat. I pity Das, that's got to be the worst job situation in the world, so much as making controversial decisions like those. either way, is more or less the guaranteed to be the ending of your career in major league baseball.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aVmOadlu9kY&feature=youtu.be F***ing terrible. Like...seriously Lawrie? I understand he was wrong, those were some BS calls. But you can't show him up and walk down the line. Umpires are quite sensitive. Especially if you're in your second year.Likelihood of Lawrie getting a big suspension for hitting ump with helmet? He spiked his lid onto home plate, it then bounced up and hit the ump in the back. I think he'll get a few games, maybe 3. No video as of yet.

Agreed. He's been very good at bottling up his energy, it was just a matter of time before he exploded. He will learn from this and will be better off. He will feel like S* for 'letting the team down'. As he should. I'm just worried MLB will make an example of him. 5 games max.

That's my thinking. But those were some f***ing terrible calls. http://www.brooksbaseball.net/pfxVB/cache/numlocation.php-pitchSel=407845&game=gid_2012_05_15_tbamlb_tormlb_1&batterX=71&innings=yyyyyyyyy&sp_type=1&s_type=3.gifThat's the pitch location. Atrocious.
It was a good freakout...so yay, new sig :P
I was at the Rauch one last year. That one was freaking crazy. Looked like he was going to kill Marquez. At least those calls were a bit closer.

Pitch 5 was nowhere close to a strike. The 6th was just too close to take, especially for a youngster, and extra special because of the previous call. Events like today will pretty much guarantee he wont be getting those calls for some time.

True. Umps can be very vindictive. The umps should get tougher skin. They know they will have to put up with a lot in that profession. That's why they get the big bux. But contact is too much.

I am wondering if and waiting for the pitch trax to be involved in balls and strikes. Wont be soon I know that, but maybe in my lifetime.

Robot umps FTW. But that will never happen. But they need some kind of replay, expand it. Help the umps. But it's tough for balls and strikes. The Dodgers with the best record in the Majors? Loney stinks and should be benched or gone soon. Harang and Caps are delightful surprises so far, if it weren't for them they'd be battling SF at around .500. They weren't picked to finish last for no reason.........we'll see if those pitchers can keep it up.
That ump deserved it. Is it really that hard to expect someone that gets paid 6 figures to referee a GAME for 6 months a year to at least be competent at their job? Those were terrible calls. Lawrie is a hero and so is the dude that threw the beer. Then I seen that Miller is filing a complaint against Lawrie. What a joke. You got grazed by a helmet, grow a sack and some eyeballs.-Halftime-Yup. Took a shot at Lawrie, just uncalled for. And I agree. Whoever threw that bear is just awesome.

The only ump I will ever not dislike is Jim Joyce for being the first ump to publicly come out and say he made a mistake. I've seen about 3 umpires do that since then because they saw the reaction Joyce got and just took the coward's way out.

Throwing a bear at an umpire? Always been a dream of mine.
Also how about Braun getting beaned, Weeks finally getting a homerun, and the Mets manager pulling his star player so he doesn't get hit? It's obvious Braun getting hit was done on purpose, but since the Mets didn't admit it no one will be punished. Dat MLB justice logic.

Actually, that's not true. I was watching MLB Tonight and they had two former pitchers on there who both said he wasn't trying to hit him, but rather just brush him off the plate.Slaps on the wrist left and right in all sports it seems.....cept maybe NFLX360PS3AMD05It's the worst in MLB. I just now that Lawrie didn't help himself with the umpires, strike zone about to get even larger.
Master_Live
If it does, then there will be more umps getting suspended. There is no way they can get away with increasing the size of the zone. They can however, not give him the close calls. If anything, this incident will cause everyone to stop and take a closer look at what the umps are doing. Everyone in the world has seen that those calls were god awful, they acknowledge that Lawrie had a beef.
JV dealing tonight. 8.1 no-hit innings. And it JUST ended as I typed that. Of course I start watching and it ends....
