Brandon Morrow is the first starter in the MLB with 2 shutouts. Got his second today. Would lead the AL in ERA if not for a scoring change from his last start (that shouldn't have been made). Just dominant right now.
Adam Lind was placed in outright waivers today. I doubt a team claims him since he's been complete garbage this year. His demotion was a bit surprising, but this is shocking.
This is all about the contract and freeing up a 40 man spot. If they wanted to do that, they could but McGowan on the 60 day DL, but they haven't (yet). So it the money.
And same sources say the Jays will make more moves Monday. Maybe tomorrow night something will come out. Which goes with what AA said earlier this week.
Lawrie at 3B, Gomes at 1B and EE DHing, baring anything that would change that.
Pirates could pick him up. Actually, for 11 months have been brutal, and the last 5 he's hit .140, .213, .203, .196, and .210. BUT maybe a change of scenery, a new voice, will help. He's got a ton of talent, so I hope it works out for him. If the first 3 months of last year are any indication, he CAN be good.
EDIT: Miami sent down Gaby Sanchez down today to AAA. According to reports, they may pursuit Lind.
ROFL so does make this team the WS favorite now? I have no idea how they are winning they just are, now with a sweep of the Champs without Kemp  They are due for a slide but even if they play .500 they should make the postseason. If you get in you've got a chance eh?X360PS3AMD05I still think the Dodger's win that division. I don't buy Arizona, SF, Colorado, or SD. The Dodger's have the best pitcher in the NL, and the best hitter in the NL. Plus, the new regime clearly isn't afraid to make some moves to bolster their team. Even if they miss the playoffs this year, it must be nice to be a Dodger's fan. The new owner(s) seem really passionate about winning.

Agreed. This year they should be in the market for some late season help. Hopefully this spices things up for the Non-waiver trade deadline[July 31st, 4pm ET.]. I wouldn't mind them picking up some big name talent. It's been so very long since they've were last in the Series. The MLB could benefit a lot with them making it back to the WS.

I know I would love to see a LAD vs. NYY World Series match up this post season. But the way things are going for my Yanks, they may not even reach the playoffs this year. The AL East is very competitive so far, the Orioles/TB/Jays will be tough to beat. If the Yanks don't start to perform a whole lot better, they may be out of the race by early July.
Great pitching continues for the Marlins, hitting not matching up yet.Master_Live
Offense is going to be worse with Bonifacio on the 15-day DL.
I just wish guys like Reyes, Hanley, LoMo, Sanchez, and Buck were having "average" seasons at the plate. We'd be in 1st place probably.
The AL East is going to be just crazy to follow all season. O's in 1st, Rays and Jays in the WC spots, and 'm sure NY and Boston won't go away, despite their struggles.

Do you think the Marlins would benefit from picking up Lind? Or do you want to stick with Sanchez...whenever he comes back up. Sounds like they've at least discussed him.[QUOTE="yokofox33"]

I'm always down for minor league deals, so if they want to do that for depth, so be it. But guys like Kearns, Peterson, and Dobbs can fill in for Bonifacio/Sanchez until they return. If the pitching continues to shine, we'll be able to stay afloat until these hitters figure it out.
I also like the minor league moves if they help. There have been some good examples. Cliff Lee, Encarnacion, Francouer. Those are what I remember working out for the best. No, not at all. Giancarlo Stanton is on fire. TonyDanzaFanYep, NL East looks extremely tough. Even the Mets don't look totally horrible.

He's so close to super star status it's not even funny.
I think this past month along with his cool badass name change, and the breaking of the scoreboard, have elevated him into super star status. At least as far as casual viewers go. I have thought of him as a superstar since the beginning of last year.[QUOTE="yokofox33"][QUOTE="TonyDanzaFan"]Giancarlo Stanton is on fire. TonyDanzaFan

I have thought of him as a superstar since the beginning of last year.He can go into those "completely lost" at the plate phases, and he'll always K a lot, but he's pretty much the complete package. He had a slow start to the season because he basically missed all of spring training. Marlins need to lock him up soon. Give him a 10 year deal, make him, and Marlins fans, very happy.
I like how that guy called out Cleveland and stuck by it, i wasn't even aware they were dead last in attendance. Also Bryce Harper saying how great it is to play in Philly with a raucous crowd, it would be even better if it was actually full :lol:X360PS3AMD05What guy?
Chris Perez.Master_LiveI was unaware that he made those comments. I understand his frustration, but the fans will come. Being in first place in May, and being in first in July are two different things. The fans will come if they keep this up.
Halladay out 6-8 weeks. Big time loss for the Phils.
-
A's won't rush MannyRamirez. Eligible this week.
-
Random Fact:
- Melky Cabrera's 73 hits is most by a Giants player through 48 games since Willie Mays in 1958.

Doc on the DL is really bad for them.
I read something about the Doc trade that I found...true. Doc is hurt, Drabek has been meh, and Michael Taylor was sent down to AAA. d'Arneud is the only player actually....playing, and playing well. Well, this year. Doc has been great.
Brandon Morrow taken off the field after being struck by a line drive below right knee. Could not put any weight on it. Very, very, very not good. Been our best pitcher this season (forget last start) and was dealing tonight.

LOL, Karma. That happened right after he hit Adam Jones.
Let's talk about Giancarlo Stanton some more. Does anybody else feel like I do, in that he has the potential to be the best player in all of baseball? I mean, the guy is one of the best hitters I have ever seen. Obviously you can look at his .262 BA last year and say he needs to work on that, but it feels like he has improved upon that this year, and his power is out of this world. Not to mention his character. I watch him interview on MLB tonight, and he just comes off as a great guy who is working his butt off and is focused solely on baseball. Seeing Stanton performance this year really makes you wonder what the heck is going on with Heyward? TonyDanzaFanYeah, he's one of the really underrated players in the game, and his early career numbers compare favorable Miguel Cabrera when he was of a similar age. I'm not sure if he could ever become the single best player, but I think he could defiantly be a future perenial all-star, starting with this year.

You don't look at BA for a player like Stanton. I actually think batting average is an overrated stat. Stanton is a high OBP, high power kind of guy. I could care less if he bats .250 as long as he's getting on base via the walk and smacking doubles and homers. Of course I'd love for him to be a .300 hitter, but he Ks too much for that. He has improved his K rate this year, so that's a good sign, but he's also walking less.
I don't know if he can be the best, but he can certainly be a top 5 hitter in the league who consistenly hits 40 homers a year and slugs at an enormous rate. Marlins need to sign him to a 7-10 year deal right NOW.
It probably wasn't an actual no-hitter, at least if that Beltran grounder down the third base line had been called correctly, but he still deserve a lot of credit for the way he pitched tonight. Amazing that it's the first in Mets history too when you look at some of the pitchers they've had over their history.
The Mets were due for one...35 one hitters and 7 players going to a different team and getting a no hitter. And just to one hit an offense like the Cardinal's this year is an accomplishment. It probably wasn't an actual no-hitter, at least if that Beltran grounder down the third base line had been called correctly, but he still deserve a lot of credit for the way he pitched tonight.
