I would've personally picked Suikoden III, it's the best in the series in my book. Very in depth story telling, 108 stories to tell, different things to do, collect, you'd get much more out of your money with Suikoden but I can't say anything against VP since I've yet to play them. I just think Suikoden is one of my favorite RPG's of all time, with hundres of different characters to stick in battle, tons of things to do, it even has tactical battles.

Andraxal

That's what I think about Xenosaga. I really like the story, very good, even with the alterations.

@Celes- I really hate when they do that. That happened to me with FF7 and Xenogears.

Did you know you can make them ship the game from other stores for only 5$? No matter where in the country it is. :) I reserved Phantom Hourglass today as a Birthday gift for my mother. :D She's going to like it.

that's the thing - the store didn't have the disc to Suikoden III. The computers said the store had it in stock, but in reality it wasn't. Which is why I picked VP2.

There is one copy in the Gamestop in the town where I work (which is the Gamestop I go all the time)! If you are interested, I can get that one for you and send by mail, after all you live here in the states too, so it won't have customs taxes and such! Just let me know!

Awwww, Aeris!!!! That's awesome!!! Hmm....you know, let me look around real quick at some other stores around me to see if they have them. I don't want to put you through any trouble if they might have the game at a store around me. I will call around to check. Thank you so much, you are the best! :D

No problem! Just let me know then what you find and if you'd like. From what I've seen here, the game is in good shape and still has its booklet!

I actually bought mine when it first came out. I hated it at first about 3-4 years ago and never touched it again until years later, when I realized how great it was. My taste in gaming has evolved since then.

Well...I finally decided to stop playing FFXII. :| I did all the sidequests except for the rare hunts, two regular hunts (The Overseer, Yiazmat) and getting the last Esper Zodiark. I topped at ~126 hours!!! I think that's the most I've ever put into a game ever!

Anyway....so today I started playing Odin Sphere! It's really hard (mostly because I just suck at actiony games like that, and I don't really remember anything from when I first started playing it a month ago). I never pay attention to my health, which is why I keep dying too. But I really love the music (it's all orchestrated), and the art is really pretty. I am liking it so far, I just wish I wasn't so bad at it, lol.

Well, I beat Heavenly Sword last night, imo kinda crummy ending. I'm thinking about trying to finish Lair, then I'll probably trade it back in when FFT WoL comes out.

Hehe, I can't get over the fact I'll have it on the go and with so much extra stuff added in. One of the best remakes by SE in a while, imo.

If I get a PSP (which I most likely will) I think I might pick up FFT: WoL. I did play the original Tactics years ago but I just didn't like the battle system. I wanna give it a second shot though...'cause I hear it's such a great game.

Kuja: You are throwing me off with your new Avatar pic...the sigs and everything looked familiar, but I was lost without Citan.
Celes: The FFT battle system should grow on you, but you have to give it a chance.  It is definitely for people who like to make deliberate and calculated actions more so that the hack and slash crowd.
Does anybody out there have any experience with the Fire Emblem Series?  Path of radiance looks like it might be enjoyable, but i don't know anybody hose played it or given me a recommendation.

Edited to fix a spacing issue.

hahahahaha, yeah....sorry! I guess when I had bought it many many years ago I had no clue what it was about. I saw "final fantasy" on it, so I was expecting turn-based battles. I was completely thrown off when I played it and didn't really give it the light of day. (Which is very bad on my part, but hey, I was young!)

I think I will definitely give the PSP version a chance. I think I'll be able to handle the differences now that I know how it's layed out.

I did the same thing. I tried it, hated it, never played it again for many years later. :) I never imagined it would be such a true jewl created by Squaresoft. I think as the company Squaresoft, it was THE best game they ever produced. :) The cast is very memorable, the villains are quite powerful yet human at the same time, it had a very complex story, one of THE first RPG games to feature a religion and make it one of THE best plot tools of that era. So anyway since we're talking about SRPG's is anyone else going to pick up their wonderful new copy of Soul Nomad and The World Eaters tomorrow with me? I can't wait to hear Gig's voice!!! I heard him in a few youtube video's and he sounded terrific.

Lucky? NO! I hate that game, what makes it so bad is my mom hogs the DS when she plays it for hours on END!! :( But tonight I spit a CURSE at Halo 3, it's launch has hampered the release of my glorious Soul Nomad: And The World Eaters, ONE Gamestop has it near me but they said they're not putting it out until tomorrow because they're too "busy" with their Halo fanboys screaming in their lobby over the special release thing they're doing.

 I've been watching a lot of Rurouni Kenshin here as of late, so I decided to switch my theme.

I played Tactics years ago, I fell in love with it after the first battle. By far one of my favorite games of all time (just behind FFVII/IX)

I've played a couple Fire Emblem games, I haven't played PoR, but the people I know hwo have played it have all recommended it. If I ever see it ina store, I'm gettin it, since I have a Wii I can play it now :P

Its about the same as FFT in regards to gameplay. The general Japanese style RPG Strategy game. Alot of people love it, I personally didn't like it cause it felt somewhat slow..... and i prefer american RTS' more but Some people really like it, and if you enjoy FFT youll Deffinately enjoy Fire Emblem

One big difference between the FE games and other SRPGs though, is that if a character dies in a battle...you can't bring them back ever. So, this causes you to be more cautious in a battle than normal, because if your strongest guy dies..he is gone for good.

Hmm...FFT by far. Tactics Ogre/Ogre Battle had the more active battle system where you manually ordered where you units went and they moved in real time. FE is turn based, more like FFT. But, the battles are carried out on their own little screen and depending on the characters stats (but mainly on what weapon they have equipped) will deteremine how much damage they do. It's not really like VS, VS is a more real-time action RPG.

[QUOTE="N8A"]Kuja: You are throwing me off with your new Avatar pic...the sigs and everything looked familiar, but I was lost without Citan.

Edited to fix a spacing issue.kryu88

 I've been watching a lot of Rurouni Kenshin here as of late, so I decided to switch my theme.

I played Tactics years ago, I fell in love with it after the first battle. By far one of my favorite games of all time (just behind FFVII/IX)

I've played a couple Fire Emblem games, I haven't played PoR, but the people I know hwo have played it have all recommended it. If I ever see it ina store, I'm gettin it, since I have a Wii I can play it now :P

I feel kinda curious about Fire Emblem what is it about?

Its about the same as FFT in regards to gameplay. The general Japanese ****RPG Strategy game.

That's actually a very original idea

It's not THAT original, but I agree it made you think wisely about each move. Even in Final Fantasy tactics if your guy died and you couldn't rap up a battle quickly you were pretty screwed unless you had a white mage with raise.

How are the Megaman battle network games? I always wanted to pick one up to try, but I am afraid it'll suck. Andraxal

Not really worth it, unless they are dirt cheap, like BN3

I finally got past the first 3 bosses in Ninja Gaiden Sigma, they are really hard(at least for me they were) unless you know the best way to defeat them

Edit: I just notice that Folklore it's coming out in two weeks :D, I've been waiting that game for a while now

I may get Sigma (even though it's the same game that came out for the Xbox just with some added stuff) but, I never finished the one for the original Xbox...so I may get it.

I downloaded that demo of Folklore, haven't really tried it out though.

I'll try to finish Sigma before DMC4 is realeased :P

I played it at one store near my house the other day, it was pretty cool, and while some people find the motion feature of the sixaxis to catch the "folks" in the game, stupid, i think it's pretty funny.

Wow! I picked up my reserved copy of Soul Nomad, and man did I get my money's worth, it's definitely a good game! :) The battle system took a LOT of itme getting adjusted too though, and it's still pretty hard, which is nice. I love when a game has some difficulty. Although random encounters can be BRUTAL at times, because the enemy lv is like Lv2, but it means lv2-15 so sometimes you can get jumped by random elite enemies!!

I finally got my cool new gaming router, the first thing I downloaded was the demo of Folklore, it's great, I think that look-wise it is the most FF-kinda game that there is for the PS3 right now. I also tried the demo of the new FPS, Jericho, and it's pretty cool as well, although some of the abilities of the characters are a little too far-fetched even for my taste.

Nice!!! Congrats on your new router! How exciting! I have a buffalo router too, it's not that exact same one, but it did say that it easily connects to the DS via AOSS. So I snatched it! :P

I am glad to hear that you like Folklore. I wish I could play the demo, I've been looking forward to this game for quite some time now!

Oh - Anyone picking up PHANTOM HOURGLASS TOMORROW??? :D :D Can't wait!

Cool :D, apparently the AOSS feature was developed by the Buffalo Technology company.

Yeah the demo was pretty cool, I'm definetely getting Folklore next week along with a copy of FF T for the psp.

I saw that Phantom Hourglass received some really great reviews and scores. I wonder whether you need to play Wind Walker before to understand the story in this one, or not

Let me know how folklore turns out please. I've got FFT payed for so I'll probably play that first and read opinions of people who bought folklore. I'm definately more cautious now with my game purchases because of the price tag for each one, though I'll still shell out the money if I think it looks decent.
