I think I shall go purchase Disgaea: Afternoon of Darkness today...since it finally arrived at my local GStop after being 3 days late shipping....

I never got to play it on the PS2, could never find a dang copy :evil:

I played Disgaea 2 and enjoyed it, the story was kinda dull and it was fairly linear as far as exploration, but the battle system and character customization was awesome.

I played Disgaea 2 and enjoyed it, the story was kinda dull and it was fairly linear as far as exploration, but the battle system and character customization was awesome.

I enjoyed both. I think that the first one has the better story (and some of the scenes are so funny that they live long in the memory), but other than that the games are near-identical.

I had a bad experince with the firstDisgaea becuase it was my first TRPG and I found that there was too much leveling and micro-managing involved. Although I loved the story and the characters I had to stop because I found it so hard and annoying.It's kinda put me off the whole sub-genre all together =/

Disgaea is notorious for power leveling, since you can go up to level 9999. I enjoy power leveling, to an extent :P I can't just sit and play a game to power level all the time, I have to advance in the plot. Aww, don't let one bad experience with a SRPG turn you off to whole genre :( There are plenty of other SRPGs out there, like FFTactics :wink:

Or if you wanna go old school, get Tactics Ogre or Ogre Battle :wink: The guys who did the battle system for Tactics made the battle system and such for this game.

Level 9,999!? And I thought level 100 was bad enough!

Well you can also transmigrate your characters. This basically means that you can choose to start over at level one with improved stats. Of course, the real benefits are making multi-c1ass characters. :)

I'm sorry to interrupt the current conversation but I wanted to share with you some Play Station news:

Demos:

It was released this week(through the US PSN store) the demo of Time Shift, most people seem to have mixed feelings about the, only time will tell. Another demo tha was released along TS is Need for Speed Pro Street.

The demo of Drake's Fortune Uncharted, one of the most anticipated ps3 games this year, will be released next week(through the US PSN store as well).

You can currently download the psp demo of Warhammer 40,000 from this GS link(I already downloaded it but haven't tried it yet). Personally I think the DS version will play better(and easier).

PSP Stuff:

We all probably heard about the controversy regarding Rockstar's videogame, Manhunt 2, and how it was decided to release the game with censored content, well for those who are less than happy whith this not so unexpected turn, I bring good news(or bad news? you never know with Rockstar games :P), apparently there is a way to hack the psp version and enjoy the full game without any cuts or blurry stuff. I wouldn't mind giving you a link but I think that conflicts with the GS rules(hint:google it).

Silent Hill Origins will arrive to the stores in a couple of days(November 6th) and the comments about this game have been good so far, but Silent Hill fans(and I include myself) know that the word "good" is not always something possitive regarding the silent hill series, we want "creepy", "OMG WTF!" "is that it's head??" "please turn it off already!", "good" just isn't good enough. This game it's also a big deal in the sense that it's the first Silent Hill(I'm not counting the SH arcade :P) that hasn't been made by Team Silent, the original creative team of the SH serie.

The umd demo of God of War that was released some weeks ago has received some very positive comments, the game looks so far like a worthy addition to the GoW series, with plenty of mythological action and giant monsters to decapitate.

PS3 stuff:

A new patch for Resistance Fall of Man was released last week. It fixed some of the bugs that are present during online sessions, some weapons are more balanced now and it allows those who have a keyboard connected to their ps3, to take screenshots, this only works during online sessions. I took some, I don't know if it was only for halloween but when you played human vs chimera, the human soldiers appeared as Skeletons(xD funny as hell). screen1screen2

Back to silent hill, new screens and information of SH5 for the ps3 in the 100th issue of the PSW magazine, this SH will be more combat oriented than previous games in the series, mainly because the main character this time will be a war veteran. Alex(22 year old) returns to his hometown of Shepard's Glen looking for his brother after a dark premonition haunts him. Another character in this game is Elle, a feisty female support(that looks a bit like Heather from SH3) it is unknown yet whether you get to play as her as well or not.

Finally I have a new MGS4 video with more than 20 minutes of actual gameplay directed by Hideo Kojima with english subtitles, I don't know if this video is available online(I got it from the PSW disc), but I can tell you it's the most amazing MGS4 video that I have seen so far. I was thinking about uploading it here, but the thing is like 500mb and I would have to split it with rar before uploading it, and would you actually download it? let me know please.

^ Dang, I meant to download that Warhammer 40k demo to my PSP >_> I'll have to do that tonight or tomorrow, I've never played any of the previous Warhammer games, but why not start now?

I think a few of us here have it. I do too. It's great!! The puzzles are spectacular! That game uses the DS better than anything else out right now - truly genius. I really recommend it!!

Haha, this morning I went over my sisters house to wait for a package to come and I watched some of her telly and I found a program called "Gamers TV" which was previewing Uncharted :P I hadn't much interest in it but after watching that program I am. It sorta looks like a cross between Tomb Raider, Prince of Persia and Shadow of the Colossus.

Can't wait for both Silent Hills and MGS4.

What is Uncharted? :? I haven't heard of this game.

Yeah Zelda is the reason is the main reason I bought a DS right away instead of waiting for FF4 or FF Ring of Fates to come out, I can't count the number of games I wish had the possibility to make notes on the maps. One funny thing about zelda is that I forgot that the DS had a mic and there is this part part you have to blow the candles in order to enter the fire temple, I didn't know what else to do, I spent like 20 minutes trying to figure out that xDFenian_lostsoul

Indeed. I looove Ninja Warrior but G4 sucks so badly. I hate that channel. I loved it when it was Tech TV back in the day! Mm hmm! screensavers FTW! ^_^

oh-who can forget: Cheaters, COPS, and all the other crap on there...

G4 is no longer G4...it's essentially a more expensive version of Spike TV with a few gamer oriented shows (all I like is Xplay, Attack of the Show and Cinematech)Cronaroth

I'm not sure how in the world assassin's creed on the DS will play out....as one of the major things of AC is its beautiful graphics and crazy gameplay....idk if that game is fit for the DS - but we will see!

I'm not that big of a Zelda fan either, I've only played Twilight Princess and it was good, but I could definitely see where he is coming from with the whole, "Nintendo is making the same games over and over again" thing. I definitely prefer Okami over Zelda though, as he said, it is basically Zelda, just faaaar more original.

It's kinda like what he said towards the beginning, the hordes of Nintendo fanboys who buy the games over and over again, causing them [Nintendo] to think that releasing essentially the same game over and over is okay. It's also like Madden, essentially the same game every year, just with an updated roster and maybe an extra feature or two.

I don't think that's 100% accurate though. I mean, I've bought almost every Zelda game but I'm no fangirl. I just like the games. And I don't think it's as bad as Madden, since Madden is exactly the same game, as where all the Zelda titles may have the same concepts, but it's not the same game. Settings change, people change, every once in a great while the villain may change and the puzzles are definitely not the same - although some may reference to other games.
Although I will say that the quality in Zelda games has declined in the recent years. I fear we may never see another Ocarina of Time. PH was great though - a breath of fresh air since the controls rock so much.

You could even maybe say the same for the Final Fantasy franchise. Although I believe FF to be a lot different every time - yet we still see the same concepts that makes FF what it is (Moogles, gil, Chocobos, summons, etc.)

That's just with the Zelda franchise though, as I can see Mario Party being Nintendo's Madden. (Do we really need 8 of them? Do we!?)

Really? I was really shocked! GS reviews are so weird lately I didn't really know what they'd give it...regardless...Galaxy seems to be doing well overall.

I bought Disgaea for my psp yesterday... and oh my!!!! I am sooo addicted!!!!!!!!! :D

Running on very low sleep... couldn't stop playing... if you don't see me posting a lot today it's because I'm playing Disgaea... no doubt.
