Hah well that sucks. Doesn't matter anyones though. The competitive scene is on 360, The Madden Challenge is on 360, Sponsored Tournaments are on 360. Quite frankly if you're serious about this game like so many people are then you are buying it on.

The casual fanbasewill be on the PS2 still.

I literally cannot wait. I'm calling friends trying to get an early copy and willing to pay a premium for it.

That Indy/Colts preseason game killed me last night. I wanted to play Madden so badly after it, I couldn't go to sleep. If I had to play the PS3 version I would deal with it, but Madden on my 360 at 60 fps is going to be like heaven.

I think the "lazy devs" excuse that cows give is one of the most ignorant excuses I've ever witness. Why would a game developer be lazy and waste their time and their own money in developing their games in all platforms!?! So you really need to get this "lazy devs" excuse out the door. Better yet, push that excuse at the 360th floor of a building. It's the hardwares fault, the PS3.

Sadly, just like with NCAA Football 08 and All-Pro Football 2K8, PS3 owners are stuck with an inferior version of Madden. While the game runs at 60 frames per second on Microsoft's box, Madden only clocks in at 30fps on Sony's console. The result? The gameplay isn't nearly as smooth as the 360 version and even stutters at times (see the difference in this comparison video). And that's the reason why we're scoring the PS3 edition slightly lower.

I thought only GS scores count as far as ownage? With that said, due to GS score revision they will more than likely score the same....

Elaborate on why this is an issue, considering Maddens target audience (casuals) hardly refer to *gaming* media outlets.

EDIT: Besides, I fail to see why people are claiming ownage. Last time I checked we only refer to Gamespot's scores for "teh pwnzor"

no matter how you want to paint them, the reality is simple and direct:

60fps >>>>>> 30fps.

if you can't get behind that truth, you're beyond our help here. it's almost inexcusable that a year later they STILL can't get 60fps out of the PS3...and as such, the PS3 version of their game was rightfully docked for it.

Was it inexcusable that last years madden on 360 was only 30 fps? It was the second time madden was on the 360.

I find this interesting. Aren't games suppose to be reviewed based on the power of the platform they are on? Yet all these publications act like ps3 and 360 multiplats need to be the same. Multiplats have generally been worse on ps3, so shouldn't reviewers lower their expectations for ps3 multiplats instead of acting like it needs to be identical to 360?

Of course, there is a theory on why Madden isn't 60fps on ps3...Now I am just saying this as a possibility cause MS has done some shady bussiness in the past. It is possible that MS paid EA for Madden ps3(and NCAA/APF[2k]) to be 30fps. There are three main supporting pieces of evidence to back up this claim:

1) No other 360/ps3 multiplat has suffered such a large difference in framerate before. Now it just so happens that the 3 big football franchises release and suffer this problem, while no other multiplats do. The first multiplats to experience this problem all happen to be the big selling football games..? Very curious ineed...

2) MS went out of their way at their E3 press confrence to brag how NCAA/Madden on 360 ran "twice as fast" as the ps3 versions. They would have to be pretty confident this was the case, to make such a claim(AKA they "made sure" only the 360 versions would be 60fps).

3) The 360 price drop timing. MS has said that they had this price drop planned for a long time(so they knew Madden would only be 30fps on ps3 for a long time?) to coincide with the launch of Madden '08. What better way to get more football fans to buy a 360 then make sure the 360 version of Madden was signifigantly superior on cheaper console.

Of course, that is all just speculation, and I don't think that is the real reason for the framerate differences. It is a possibility though. I still personally think the reason was that EA ran out of time to optimize the ps3 version. 360 was the lead platform for the game and by the time they got to working hard on the ps3 version, the release date was closing in(EA never delays their sports franchises).

EDIT: Apparently people having been missing out on the bolded part, so stop acting like im some kind of conspiracy theorist cow :| The theory was just something that I thought was funny, since it is a possibility(however unlikely).

it's EA, what can you expect?

It's not like less people will buy the game then if the PS3 version scored better.. So why try to make 2 equally good versions when you can simply do one good version and then making a cheap port to the other system..

EA's done that for years! Ever since the Genesis days, they've put all the efforts into one platform and then port it over to another, usually dropping a bunch of features in the process.

Well, Madden is only a big seller in the US. And the ps3 userbase in the US is like 1/2 of what the 360s was this time last year. Worldwide though, the ps3 userbase is about the same as the 360s userbase this time last year

Cows need to just give it up, you can't argue your way out of 30FPS being better than 60FPS. Your getting the worse version of multi plat games and to top it all off you had to pay hundreds of dollars more for the privilege of being screwed by Sony. That's horrible logic. They get screwed because Ea and 2k made there games 30fps and the 360's 60fps? what about all the other games that are coming out?(in this I'm not arguing against framerates). I could easily say Lemmingas have been screwed over with a console that has a high failure rate, and has so many versions of it coming out that it screws the last guy who bought a 360 before the one with the hdmi port was announced. Also yes I do think it is a double-sided sword on this case. It isthe dev's fault for not getting it to 60fps. It is somewhat Sony's fault for making it so complex.Especially with the announcement from EA saying themselves that the 360 is easier to work with than the PS3. that's like me saying that the 360 fans have been screwed since they aren't getting player made mods for unreal.

Whether it scored higher or not is a moot point because its NOT GS's SCORE!! What part do you people not understand that:

1. The cell is not living up to its hype because all of its power is still "theoretical"

2. The PS3 is going to have peformance issues. It doesnt mean that the games will look bad, just that the same games released for the 360 will "probably" look better.

Here is the end of discussion. the Ps3 comes out a year late and $200 more expensive. according to Sony it was the only True Next gen device, a supercomputer that will blow way every thing you thought was next gen. Now here is the reality for as late and as much as they want for this console it HAD to literally blow the doors off the 360 crush it with its true next gen goodness. And here we are one year after its launch and its still struggling to keep up with the 360'sd performance. I'm of the opinion its "game over"for Sony WHY??? pay $200 more for a system with less games and worse performance. Hell even if it was on par with the 360 is wouldn't be worth. Some are on gamespot. I remember when looking for comparisons for fight night they said the PS3 version is overall better. When GS compared madden 07 for both, they said the details for the PS3 looked better than the 360's when moving.
