why? i had a ps3, i sold it and decided to keep my 360. But after beating it and all...I'm still trying to figure out how can't it handle it? The graphics is fine, its not like they're mind blowing or anything

why would anyone want it on 360? there are better movies out theremems_1224although it did feel like a movie.......i loved that game, maybe because of indigo prophecy

Heavy Rain was pretty decent, but the graphics didn't really impress me that much. Super linear, quick time-based gameplay, muddy textures and screen tearing...it all adds up to something that isn't nearly as impressive as I was led to believe.
LOL no it can't run Heavy Rain. Sorry Lems.

Heavy Rain director David Cage has said that his upcoming PS3-exclusive would not be able to run on Microsoft's console

I think this game can only be done on Playstation 3
When asked if Heavy Rain would be possible on the Xbox 360 Cage told us he "didn't think so," as the game takes specific advantage of the PS3's hardware capabilities.
"I think this game can only be done on Playstation 3," he said. "We used all the SPUs.
"I think to do the visuals, and all the stuff were doing would be too difficult [on the 360]. There are amazing physics there, and stuff with crowds that you just couldnt really get."
Well xbox is the shooter console so it would make sense that the system handle a shooter but not other type games.. too much for the xbox people.. they dont understand anything beyond shooting stuff

Yeah, just like Resident Evil 2 wasn't possible on the N64 due to cartridge format.
Oh wait:
Turned out to be the superior version with filtering and a high-res mode.
Heavy Rain doesn't even have that good of graphics. Super inconsistent game. :?Stevo_the_gamer

Fail, no point in posting the blurriest and most compressed shot from a multiplat game, try a top tier exclusive.it's called an exclusive for a reason.
I'm sure the PS3 can handle Gears too, but you don't see it on the PS3.
It does have some very nice visuals actually. gpuking"very nice" isn't what I would use to describe Heavy Rain's graphics.

Of course it does, it's a playlable movie after all.

What's the problem? Sorry fanboy, but Crysis 2 on 360 looks like this:

Got to love the fanboys who try their best to down PS3 graphics by pulling the "it's inconsistant" excuse out of their ass. That seems to be the go to excuse for every butthurt fanboy who tries to argue PS3 and 360 are the same in graphics and power....that said
Heavy Rain isn't one of those games that sets PS3 apart from 360 imo.
There is a game that is very similar to Heavy Rain on both PS3 and 360 and it's weird that detractors haven't brought it up so let me do it, and it's a example that would point to the fact that it could be done...
LA Noire...
That said...this is what Digital Foundry had to say about the 360 version compaired to PS3
"One of the most noteworthy criticisms we've seen of L.A. Noire is that there are some serious frame-rate issues on the Xbox 360 version of the game, while the PlayStation 3 release is significantly smoother, in contrast to the previous Rockstar RAGE open-world titles."
:P so like some have said, It probably can run...but most likely with of draw backs sub-HD resolution, frame rate problems, no AA and screen tearing.

Oh and TC, 360 does not handle BF3 exactly the same way as PS3 does, the former has cut down lighting effect and inferior AA if you check the DF faceoff. So judging by the best looking technical multiplat game, 360 can't handle it the same way as PS3 without making some kind of concession.gpuking

"Both of them render at a native 1280x704 resolution, letterboxed gently top and bottom. The showpiece lighting is a match in almost all situations, detail levels and LODs seem to be almost identical"
"Post-process anti-aliasing is utilised on both versions in order to resolve the obvious jaggies that impacted the previous Frostbite titles, but we see two different implementations, each suited to the relative strengths of the platform. PlayStation 3 implements MLAA - a technology that actively seeks out jaggies and applies smoothing where appropriate. DICE hasn't confirmed what's being used on Xbox 360, but it certainly looks very much like NVIDIA's FXAA - an intelligent blur to all intents and purposes, that doesn't have the same edge-smoothing prowess as MLAA but works nicely on reducing the contrast on sub-pixel detailing. During the course of gameplay, the overall effect is quite "

DF fails. Read http://developer.download.nvidia.com/assets/gamedev/files/sdk/11/FXAA_WhitePaper.pdf
On FXAA from NVIDIA's POV
Targets aliasing both on triangle edges and in shader results. FXAA has logic to reduce single-pixel and sub-pixel aliasing.
Try again DF.
Using http://www.hardocp.com/article/2011/07/18/nvidias_new_fxaa_antialiasing_technology/4 as summary.
It(MLAA) follows the same general process as FXAA: it processes the color data of a rendered image, looking for pixels with a high degree of local contrast. It then applies a smoothing filter to reduce contrast. How each technique goes about doing that, however, is quite different. FXAA looks for high contrast local to each pixel and MLAA looks for patterns of high contrast pixels. In this way, FXAA seems to be a superior technique for reducing pixel-sized aliasing.
PS; AMD has improved it's MLAA with version 2.0. I have a few postings that blast DF's stupidity...
Posting again...
In reference to http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-saboteur-aa-blog-entry and I quote.
"In the meantime, what we have is something that's new and genuinely exciting from a technical standpoint. We're seeing PS3 attacking a visual problem using a method that not even the most high-end GPUs are using."
Eurogamer didn't factor in AMD's http://developer.amd.com/gpu_assets/AA-HPG09.pdf
It was later corrected by Christer Ericson, director of tools and technology at Sony Santa Monica and I quote
"The screenshots may not be showing MLAA, and it's almost certainly not a technique as experimental as we thought it was, but it's certainly the case that this is the most impressive form of this type of anti-aliasing we've seen to date in a console game. Certainly, as we alluded to originally, the concept of using an edge-filter/blur combination isn't new, and continues to be refined. This document by Isshiki and Kunieda published in 1999 suggested a similar technique, and, more recently, AMD's Iourcha, Yang and Pomianowski suggested a more advanced version of the same basic idea".
AMD's Iourcha, Yang and Pomianowski's papers refers to http://developer.amd.com/gpu_assets/AA-HPG09.pdf
To quote AMD's paper "This filter is the basis for the Edge-Detect Custom Filter AA driver feature on ATI Radeon HD GPUs".
Eurogamer's "not even the most high-end GPU are using" assertion is wrong.
From top to bottom GPUs, current ATI GPUs supports Direct3D 10.1 and methods menstioned AMD's AA paper.
Eurogamer has forgot that AMD Radeon HD 2900 XT has incomplete MSAA hardware i.e. parts of it's AA was done on stream/shader processors.

Pretty amazing that this gen is about over and people still don't get it. PS3 and 360 are a wash. The more cash you throw at a game the better it will look. That's it. There is no upper hand between these two consoles.
The PS3 is my favorite console this gen just as the PS2 and PS before it. Obviously I enjoy my Playstations, but enjoying a system doesn't mean you have to be a blind idiot.
If the PS3 were so superior you would never see it lag with multiplats. Every time the PS3 comes with a knock out, multi million dollar, big budget exclusive the 360 usually has an answer no more than a year later... and usually at a fraction of the development cost.
If the PS3 was clearly superior it would have left the 360 in the dust 3 or 4 years ago. Instead we get this constant back and forth cycle between the consoles. We wouldn't even have graphics comparison threads because there would be no point.
