4K Gaming..........Teh Future

Lock if old. MS has stated that this will be the console for the next 10 years. In this life cycle 1080p may become a thing of the past and 4K may become the norm. This article discusses how 4k gaming will be supported on the X1 and not on the PS4. I don't know how they plan on doing this but it seems interesting. FPS games on the PC: Higher resolution = Better accuracy.

LOl you think aiming from one side to another on a 40" 4k screen is easier then on a 23" 1080p screen or a 27" 1440p screen? Hell no, it's a lot more time consuming. LOL i love how Hermits brag about but but the accuracy for competitive gaming, then at the same time wet there pants at the thought of playing on a 40" 4K screen.

Of course, and that is why 4k is practically useless. When we jumped to 1080p nobody said 1080p is useless because you need a 65" TV to get the benefit of 1080p. But now with 4k, the smarter people realize it's useless because to get the benefit you need a screen between 100-150 inches big..

4K benefits start to come around 70 inches. 1080p was 42 inches 8K is about 150 inches.

GPUs that can drive 4K resolution can also drive multi-display setups like 5760x1080p.

Anyone see the new Ryse SP footage? I have heard it displayed in 2K, hence the need for a 4K cable or just pumping it up for the show?

Maybe the official "4k standard". But scaling from 1920x1080 to 3840x2160 is a pretty smooth doubling of each pixel, and These consoles will obviously have better a dealers than last gen. Regardless 4k is pointless.

"Doubling of each pixel" is what I said. I just forgot to add "vertically and horizontally" Which like I said shouldn't be to hard to scale.

The best reason for 4K would still be the lack of aliasing you get with that high of a resolution in gaming. Even 1920x1080 with some AA often has noticable crawling edges and jaggies.
