Nobody ever expected 360 to sell 150 million tho. They still tripled its install base and surpassed Sony this gen. People thought PS3 would be the biggest entertainment device in history and surpass PS2. Price has nothing to do with it. PS3 has been affordable for years now and its still last place. Its actually been cheaper than the 250gb 360 for awhile now but that didn't stop 360 from outselling it last year.

PS3 failed cause there are no reasons to buy it unless you wanted a blu ray player back in 2006. Multiplats on it suck. The online service sucks and you get your credit card info and personal info stolen on it. Gran Turismo 5 the main reason alot of people bought a PS3 for is considered one of the biggest disappointments in gaming history. Other games that were announced years ago like Agent and Versus 13 and TLG are vaporware. The biggest PS2 franchises like GTA and FF are multiplat this gen. It doesn't have party chat so you can't talk to your friends.

360 is flatout the better console. It has been a huge success for MS. They made alot of money off it have gotten 7 strong years out of it and it turned Xbox into a household name. PS3 has put the PS brand and Sony on life support.

Cows always go on about paying for XBL. MS recuperated most of those costs by XBL subs alone. I'm not saying this is a good thing though. Hopefully they'll have a PS+/Steam type of service next gen with amazing deals.

maybe the reason why the xbox 360 lasted 7 years instead of 4 is because it sold better?
after all, the xbox 360 reached 30 million while it was still 3 years old

Well it did sold better but that wasn't the reason MS keep it while it keep the xbox only for 4 years. The xbox 360 barely sold 12 more million units on the same time frame,that is not the greatest achievement ever,when you consider that RROD plague the xbox 360 and extended warranty lasted 3 years not 4. In fact that link you posted proved my point,the xbox 360 on may 2009 was 6 months from been 4 years old,and only had sold 5 more million units,add 7 million more since may and you end with 12 million more units on the same 4 years. MS keep the xbox 360 because unlike the xbox,the xbox 360 was build from ground up to make MS money,those 4 billions they loss would come out of 360 fans one way or the other,the problem was MS screwed up with RROD,and for the first few years the losses actually grew bigger,7.1 billion total,but unlike the original xbox which would have never ever leave MS a cent of profit,the xbox 360 could,live subscriptions,rise in game prices by 10,DLC,expensive peripherals,so MS was able to get at least what they loss this gen and make a few dollars on the way. The xbox was a money pit the xbox 360 was not,is the main reason why MS killed the xbox.

and the original xbox didn't reach 24 million until 2006, here, a link stating that by june 2005, the xbox was at 20 million

Cows still go on about the RROD? Can we say the same thing with replacement systems happened to Sony with the YLOD? Fun Fact: I've had more problems with my PS3 than I did with my 360. I had YLOD, Save data corruption, freezing, and more. Although I got my PS3 in 2007 and my 360 in 2009.

Triple of nothing is = to nothing... See in fact you want to see some numbers fun.. Once again when confronted with facts you run like a thief on the night to hide on useless arguments,if the PS3 is a good for nothing console,is even worst for MS because MS is just 2 million ahead of a good for nothing $600 failure...That does more damage to MS image in the end,because they could barely outdo a failed good for nothing console.

lol...why is it morons like you keep saying that the extended warranty was 3 years only? any system capable of the RROD received a 3 year warranty so if you purchased a 360 in 2009 capable of it it has a 3 year warranty if you get it that 3 year warranty applies from its purchase date....so 2009....2011 or even 12...depending on the month purchased.

In fact on 2005 sony sold 9.1 million PS2,on 2006 the PS2 price was slashed to $129 and the PS2 on 2006 sold 15.2 million units,the xbox 360 sold 6.6 million so basically the PS2 with a price drop sold almost 10 million units more than the next gen console,something that never happen to a console that would win,it was very easy to see on 2006 that the xbox 360 would not win the console race. Once again when confronted with facts you run like a thief on the night to hide on useless arguments,if the PS3 is a good for nothing console,is even worst for MS because MS is just 2 million ahead of a good for nothing $600 failure...That does more damage to MS image in the end,because they could barely outdo a failed good for nothing console.

Just because PS3 failed doesn't mean 360 did. A Xbox console will probably never hit 100 mil or higher cause the east won't buy western made systems. 360 sells tons of software, Xbox Live makes lots of money and so does Kinect. MS has made money this gen. MADE MONEY. How is something a failure when its profitable?

And just stop with the price crap. PS3 was $399 1 year after it came out. That was the same price as 360 plus remember you have to pay for XBL on top of that. PS3 has been the same price as 360 for 5 years and its still in last place. Stop making excuses and just accept everybody sees what a piece of crap PS3 is. Its just not that popular.

Cows always go on about paying for XBL. MS recuperated most of those costs by XBL subs alone. I'm not saying this is a good thing though. Hopefully they'll have a PS+/Steam type of service next gen with amazing deals.TheDidact

MS got back what they loss this gen,basically last year,this is MS first year of true profits dude,and sadly their income is 94% down basically all the xbox 360 income down the drain close to 100% dude,that is striding pretty close to losses again if you ask me.

That is because you don't know how to count apparently,how is 3 years and a half = to just 3 years.? The xbox 360 was release on nov 2005,so by may 2009 it was 42 months old 3 years is 36 months,unless your years have 14 months...

Who the hell say that.? Please dude stop putting words on my mouth,i what i say was that the xbox 360 had 12 million more units than the original xbox had by time frame,dude that means that the xbox 360 had 37 million by the end of 2009 little less probably.

Small gap or not, MS delivered this gen. Unlike PS3, 360 was a huge success compared to the it's previous console!

That said, i don't think sales are that important. Console library wise, 360 is in a distant first place.

No, the next gen starts when the current gen is over, and the current gen isn't over till all 3 next gen consoles are out.

Next gen starts when people are playing games on their new system. 3ds users have been on 8th gen a while now and vita for me. Course that doesn't mean last gen stops even after all systems are out, like in ps2's case.
