70 million XBOXs sold!

Small gap or not, MS delivered this gen. Unlike PS3, 360 was a huge success compared to the it's previous console!

That said, i don't think sales are that important. Console library wise, 360 is in a distant first place.

Actually, they have released their Q1 2012 numbers : Link. However, we have yet to see their 2nd quarter numbers. I believe their 2nd quarter runs from July to Sept. Thus, we are missing sales figures up to Sept. However, MS has reported into Q1 of their 2013 year.

just because you release a next gen console it doesn't mean the next gen has started, because the ps3 and 360 will still be the main consoles when the wii u is released, so the current gen would still be bigger then the next gen.

I estimate they are behind by 1+ million. Likely between 1 and 2. However, the holiday period for the 360 is typically where the gap widens again, ever so slightly.

Yeah, i was looking at those Q2 shipped numbers, and if sony did that again, they would pull ahead, but we don't really know untill they officially release them, but i believe the 1.7m vgchartz has is close.

Those are Sony's shipped-to-retail numbers, much like MS' 70 million figure. Official reports are illegal to "spin".
