PS3's is at 63.9M but that doesn't include any of its sales since March 2012. Nonstop-MadnessAnd those are the only numbers we have. PS3 must have not sold much Q2 if Sony is scared to release the numbers. Every time I go to Gamestop or Walmart people are always buying a 360 or 360 games but nobody is ever buying a PS3 or looking at PS3 games.

You're resorting to anecdotal evidence now?
Sony's Q1 2012 figures have been released.
But there is still no proof what PS3 sold Q1. Your link didn't say PS3.[QUOTE="todd2r_Partdeux"]Then you lost as well because you provided no concrete evidence. 6 million it is. lundy86_4

We don't know how many of that 2.8 are PS3s. They mixed the numbers with PS2. Now if you want to make an estimated guess then we could go by what PS2 sold Q1 2011 which was 1.4 so that would mean PS3 sold 1.4 in Q1 this year. But that would just be a guess. Nobody knows what PS3 sold Q1 except Sony and it must be low since they had to mix it in with PS2. I mean why would they suddenly start doing that?
People also need to get this right, Sony Q1 =/= Microsoft Q1. Microsoft's Q1 begins in July, Sony's beings in April. Microsoft's sales are everything up to September 30th of 2012. The last time Sony gave out a concrete number of sales was up to March 31st of 2012 and that number is 63.9M. Sony posted its Q1 sales (April - June) but it includes the PS2. Sony hasn't released its July - September sales yet, but even if PS3 sales dropped to 2008 sales standards (for Q1 and Q2), it would be at 67.9M by now, only 2.1M behind the 360. Nonstop-Madness
You ps3 fans are so pathetic. You go from selling 100 million+ last gen, to trying some creative math to some how close the gap on the second place console this gen?? You lost this Gen. Just move on and hope Sony learned its leasson for the next go round. Sheesh

Im not using creative math, only an idiot would believe that the gap DOUBLED over a span of 6 months, even after Microsoft posted weaker sales than last year. The PS3 sales that people are using are 6 months old (63.9M), theres no way getting around that. Im not claiming anything significant, just saying people are using incorrect information and making themselves looks really dumb.[QUOTE="kbanna"]

The gap shrinks and closes all the time. The PS3 closes the GAP during the year, xbox comes back during christmas and the GAP increases. (At least last year). the point is that we are headed into the 7th year (xbox's 8th) And PS3 fans are still like "YES!!! The gap is closing!!"???? Get over it already. The next Gen is about to start. And coming from a position where you had 70% market share and 100+ million, to catching the 70+ million xbox in its 8th year....its just sad. Have some pride.
XBOX got its a$$ kicked by the WII. Do you see xbox fans behaving like this????
360 came out one year ahead and its hardly ahead of PS3 sales. Pretty soon PS3 will pass it.
The only thing holding 360 sales up is US sales. No one cares about 360 in Japan and Europe is Sony land.

Year 8....ps3 is still last. Can you accept that??
70 million Xbox 360 owners have no games to play.
Peredith
It has more exclusives this year than any other console and obviously gets roflstomped by the PC.
But yeah, the 360 has no games.

HAHAHA, the argument changes over and over again. Can you accept the FACT that ps3 is in last place right now? Yes or No. Your game assertion is subjective. Your favorites consoles current position however, is not.
they sale in same rate bah PS3 is better in since launch sales, that 1 year ahead do made a diffrence.ShadowriverUB
Did it make a difference? Of course. However, it's Sony's issue that they let MS get the one up.
Also, the Wii proves that the one year headstart is kind of moot. If it is popular enough, it can beat competition that had the headstart.

PS3 has been consistently selling more than the Xbox year per year since 2006, that's how it closed an 8 million gap to only 3 or 2. I know the lemtools are still in denial about this but this is the truth. The Xbox 360 in its first year alone in the market sold 8-10 million consoles and that was a pretty huge gap that they lost to the PS3.
Imagine the failure of a console launching a year earlier and then being surpasssed a year later by all its competitors? You know it's gonna happen before the PS4 comes out. ;)

How does this stop the system being in last place?

Speculation. Good times.
[QUOTE="Peredith"]And get ripped off for online. Well actually is 35 million since half of those are rebuys from the RROD. If that's the case, why isn't ps3 moving more software than 360? Are ps3 owners only interest in the blu-ray functionality or just a bunch of "casuals".70 million Xbox 360 owners have no games to play.

Well once we get those numbers we will know how close or far sony is, but claiming the 360 is 6m ahead is just insane
lundy86_4
They are not 6 million behind. As of their latest numbers, Sony are at 66.7 million in comparison to MS' 70 million.
Yep 66.7 almost 67 million and those doesn't include 2nd quarter sales, which could be from 1.5 to 2 million more units which will put the PS3 basically from 1.8 million to 1.3 millions away if not less from the xbox 360.[QUOTE="Meeeper282"][QUOTE="delta3074"]Listen kid, The next generation starts when the FIRST next generation Console releases, it has ALWAYS been that way, Thats the way the Games industry see's it and thats the way the vast maority of Gamers see it, i don't care if you don't like it, thats the way it is, just accept it or carry on being Wrong, the choice is yours.delta3074
But the current generation doesn't end untill all 3 consoles are out, meaning sony could end the generation in second.. kay?
This generation doesn't end until they stop producing all 3 consoles, the last generation is till going i think, DO SONY still make the PS2? i don't know but yes you are right, SONY could end up being Second this generation but it's irrelevent once the Next generation starts, we determine who has 'won' by who has sold the most when the next generation starts,in this case it would be the Wii, highest hardware sales and the most high rated exclusives. That is what i have been telling you for a long time,it will not matter even if the PS3 end second which is very likely if the xbox 360 sales don't pick up,the wii won the rest loss.[QUOTE="Meeeper282"]

OMG! do you have any eyes, go back and look again, those numbers are ps3 only not ps2! OMG
but you are right about one thing, those 2.8m is actually the ps3 and ps2 combined, the ps3 shipped 1.9m in that Q "i think"
while the 360 shipped 1.0m

 2.8 million PS3 and not a single PS3 was sold on Q1... In fact the PS2 is dead console barely selling any more,is at the button of the charts in Japan alone side the xbox 360 selling just 1,000 to 700 units a week,in US it doesn't even show up on NPD... Talking about damage control...[QUOTE="JohnnyCageMK"][QUOTE="Meeeper282"]
