Somebody is forgetting when it was cancelled for PC

Tearing is far less annoying than low frames or input lag
Depends on the game, some games tear badly, some games have issues with vsync. But at very least, vsync often saves power, no reason to go above 60fps.[QUOTE="Animal-Mother"][QUOTE="seanmcloughlin"]Ya I have a 6950 Vsync on or off?Always turn V-Sync on. The only reason for putting it off is benchmarking and if there's problems relating to V-Sync.No. V sync causes some input lag, having it on in games like quake is stupid.Yeah me too. Everything completely maxed out and I rarely go below 45 fps on a 560Ti. Most times Im hovering between 55 - 60 fps.

It looks ok, but there are better looking games out there on PC, that's for sure. The main reason to even get Alan Wake is for the store. The game play is pretty average as well.

I usually leave it off anyway for the extra frames. Framerate limiter comes in handy for saving power

Input lag annoys me.Me too. Big time. When I started on my PC first I didn't really notice but now if I turn it on I can notice huge lag. I noticed it most in something like Portal. It suffers huge lag from Vsync
the lighting is the nicest part, the textures in some areas could really use some work. Luckily you're constantly moving from light sources so you don't notice it much.
It's a good looking game, but I wouldn't say it's in the same league as high end pc exclusives.
It's also an extremely demanding game, even on a gtx 580 with a custom oc and an i7 at 4.2 gigz, with 6 gigz ram I still dip below 60fps in certain spots.
I'm thinking it might be an optimization issue, this game shouldn't tax this much.

most PC games are just 360 games running at a higher resolution, your point is?
I noticed the game uses a lot more of the GPU going from 4xAA to 8xAA. So I keep it at 4xAA.the lighting is the nicest part, the textures in some areas could really use some work. Luckily you're constantly moving from light sources so you don't notice it much.

Nvidia and AMD havent got drivers for it yet
and a remedy dev on the steam fourms said patches are coming
so im sure it will be more optimized soon enough... hopefullly
and yeah a good texture mod would be nice

That's true, I hope mod support is encouraged.
A silent hill mod with this lighting system would be bad ass.

loosingENDS is the guy that is dumb and stupid that thinks that a 6-7year old console is the same like a modern pc's.
and as a matter of fact a 6 years old GPU 8800 will play Alan Wake with much higher rez, settings and fps.
Looks like a higher res 360 version. Looks great but there are more impressive games on PC.
PAL360
I agree. It is the prime example of, "I don't need a pc I have a 360." Higher res this, slightly higher res that, but same game.

You need to understant that playing a game with much bigger resolution, better graphic settings, and higher fps completely change the game experience.

Completely? I don't think so. In fact, there are times when I see a really really high resolution texture contrasted against a bad one and I actually find it distracting.

A typical mulitplat with "1280x720, low-medium settings, 25-30fps", looks and play really bad(compared to pc) on console, on the other hand playing a game with "1920x1200, max settings, 60fps" looks and play much better.
Now Alan Wake on xbox is unplayable for someone that is used to play at high resolution.960x544 vs 1920x1200 than is 442% bigger resolution (and that doesn't even include better shadows, SSAO, draw distance, godray quality, etc)
how can anyone say this game looks bad? :|seanmcloughlinDid someone other than looser say it looks bad on PC?

In reality it doesn't work out that way.
Everything on the 360 is output in 1080 upscale, it looks alot better than the native low rez.
Technically it is just a visual trick, but the result in the right dev hands is excellent.
When I played it on 360, I didn't even think it was low rez, the game looked excellent, and in motion it looks alot better than the screenshots.
Ultimately the production of the 360 game is focused around the controller, everything from the camera angle to the aspect ratio is made for a controller, whereas on PC this is probably an afterthought.
So it's basically higher native rez, but you lose out on the native controller scheme.
Alot of people will pretend using a controller on a PC is the same, but it never feels right, feels like controlling a tank.
Buy the game and enjoy it, but don't pretend you're getting a better experience because you're not.
You're getting a taste of the superior games we enjoy on a regular basis.
Except you're getting it with all the headaches of PC gaming, the upgrading and troubleshooting, insecurity of buying things on DD, inability to rent, inability to share games with friends, the poor couchability, etc etc.
You're trading all that for a native higher rez vs an upscaled one.
Name something GOOD that come out for PC exclusively in the last 5 years that isn't an RTS or MMO. Uh huh. You can't because there's nothing good.
You're willfully missing out on the good stuff in exchange for platform loyalty.
You could be playing something like Alan Wake every month, instead you are stuck playing garbage games like WoW. You already known you won't be getting the next Ghost Recon, and you'll be lucky if you get the next Max Payne and GTA 5.

As for good I'd have to go with the STALKER games :P

Because we should judge a game's graphics by looking at an extremely downsampled picture? No, based on those pictures in the OP, the game doesn't look good at all. Low res textures everywhere, the lighting looks good though. Now Alan Wake on xbox is unplayable for someone that is used to play at high resolution.

Eh, a good game is a good game. If I went to somebodys house and they had an SDTV with a PS3 hooked up, asked me "want to play SF4?", I would NEVER laugh and respond, "get that low res $h*t outta my face!" A good game is a good game.

I dunno it's incredibly hard to read words on a SDTV in SF4, we couldn't even read what the combos were because the words were so tiny :P.[QUOTE="seanmcloughlin"]
