And your argument is that garbage games count because you play them.

Right?

Right????

Listen I can dig spending a night playing LoL or Starcraft, in fact I do do that.

But there's no way to be primarily a PC gamer without missing out on the good stuff.

Whereas if you don't have a PC then it's no problem.

Theres 3 kinds of lies : Lies, Damned Lies and Statistics.

Statistically PC has alot of good stuff, but realistically almost all of it is ignorable.

LazySloth718

And same can't be said for consoles. Why?

At the end of the day each of us have to choose what games we want to play, and how we would like to play them.

Whether we want to support DRM (Steam) or support physical sale. - What's so important about physical copies?

Whether we want to use a controller or a mouse. - I can use both. Your point?

Which exclusives we prefer. - Elaborate more?

Our budget.

Etc etc.

To me PC gaming for right now (for this particular gen) is completely ignorable. - Subjective

There has been nothing in the past 5 years that screamed at me to get it on the PC. - There had been tons of game, you just turn blind eye

Just my opinion.

Bottom line, I would not pay $30 to play 6 hour campaign Alan Wake on PC, to me that would constitute a 2 day rental or borrow it from a friend, or buy it from Gamestop and return it within 7 days.

There is absolutely no reason for me to flush my money down the toilet.

And I use this same logic for alot of games, including Crysis 2, Rage and so forth.

Post summary: blah blah blah

I don't like RDR, or Gears, or Halo so what's your point?

LazySloth718

Baloney

You don't have the option of playing them (among dozens of other good games.)

Don't try to pretend you're not missing out.

Ok that's a stupid post yet again

But let's look at multiplats then, there are a LOT of multiplats that are excellent and the PC version is always the better version. Without question. You always say we don't "own" games but we get access to all the files of the game. We can tweak it and change it how we please, it's more than consoles can do so how do we not "Own" the game?

There is bullsh!t all over your face dude

960x544 upscale to 1080 or 2560x1600 will not improve anything it will continue to look exactly like 960x544.

LazySloth718

So according to you upscale is the same as native and therefor there's no point in upscaling anything.

You know PC's use upscaling too right?

Also controller on PC =/= Controller on console

It's great if you like to use a mouse, not so great if you prefer a controller.

As I said, enjoy the game, I don't care about exclusives.

Just keep in mind we get games like this all the time, you get our sloppy seconds after 2 years when they don't sell.

960x544 look like 960x544 even if you upscale to 3840x2160. get over it.

Controller on console is exactly the same on pc when you have 30fps in both.

keep in mind we get better games than AW this all the time.

For multiplats PC is good but it's alot of time and money for little difference.

Alot more hassles.

For example that annoying Origin sign-in to play BF3, always-on DRM from Ubisoft, etc etc.

Basically if you just want to play alot of good games for the cheapest amount of time and money, can't really beat the HD twins.

You have to understand that I've been doing this for a long, long time.

I barely have patience for my 360, and even less patience for my PC.

On this site is mostly a bunch of young guys who have all day and night to mess with their PC.

I play 0-3 hours per day, my goal is to get in, play and get out with as little as possible in between.

Not to work an IT job, then come home and work another IT job.

Also I was entertaining the possibility of motion gaming to slim my fat ass down, but realistically I'd feel like a retard waving my hands around.

the lighting is the nicest part, the textures in some areas could really use some work. Luckily you're constantly moving from light sources so you don't notice it much.

It's a good looking game, but I wouldn't say it's in the same league as high end pc exclusives.

It's also an extremely demanding game, even on a gtx 580 with a custom oc and an i7 at 4.2 gigz, with 6 gigz ram I still dip below 60fps in certain spots.

I'm thinking it might be an optimization issue, this game shouldn't tax this much.

HaloinventedFPS

Nvidia and AMD havent got drivers for it yet

and a remedy dev on the steam fourms said patches are coming

so im sure it will be more optimized soon enough... hopefullly

and yeah a good texture mod would be nice

AMD has Catalyst 12.3 RC (pre-WHQL).

Also Steam has made gaming far cheaper and easier. Also no need to disc swap just exit and load up and go again.

Ultimately the production of the 360 game is focused around the controller, everything from the camera angle to the aspect ratio is made for a controller, whereas on PC this is probably an afterthought.

So it's basically higher native rez, but you lose out on the native controller scheme.

Alot of people will pretend using a controller on a PC is the same, but it never feels right, feels like controlling a tank.

LazySloth718

The Xinput APIs are the same.Windows Vista/7 has native support for Xbox 360 controller.

Wired Xbox 360 controller with my LAN box PC.

Might be of interest in difference between PC and 360 version. Looks like 360 was a mix of low and medium settings.

Console gaming is 1 hobby, playing the games, which I enjoy.

PC gaming is a combination of 2 hobbies, gaming and tech.

I believe that for most people, they want #1 and would like to avoid #2 (unpaid IT support.)

Beyond that are many other reasons I consider PC gaming inferior and/or undesirable in its current state.

- Reliance on digital distribution (I like to have physical copies)

- Prevalence of DRM (crippled software)

- Consolization (removing PC features to give consoles a better experience)

- Lacking in key titles (RDR, Dark Souls, Halo, Ghost Recon etc)

- Botch jobs (GTA, LA Noire, etc)

- Focus on MMO's and F2P (instead of games you can carry with you, pop into a work PC and just play.)

Keep in mind as I write all this that I still do PC game, just not the way I used to.

I look at PC death/dying holistically.

It is not dying because of lack of ads, or lack of support.

It is dying because its current conditions cause it to be undesirable for the purpose of gaming.

MOST people in the world are not 14 year old boys who have all the time in the world to make GTA playable.

MOST people in the world I believe are like me, who just want to get in and out, with as little bullschit as possible.

Tired now write more later.

Just horrible compared to before.

Sometimes I think I console game just to buy Ubisoft games used.

I think what needs to happen is conversations WITHIN the PC community, avoiding DRM and DD, fix our platform and THEN people can start coming over.

Not reward all these companies for giving us always-on DRM.

I don't consider it ethical to advise people to PC game right now, there's too many problems.

Next gen I'll focus on the PC some more but for right now I'm busy renting and playing everything.

Not Devs, Publishers.

Most of em treat us like schit and deserve it.

I buy stuff when it's worth buying and control my consumer dollar better.

Or would you rather be forced to buy from Origin to play BF3?

See right there, they split the community and weakened Steam.

They sodomize you and spit on your mom, and you're worried about them going broke.

The endemic problem of our community.

Renting and trading in are some of the biggest problems in gaming today. Devs get almost no money now because of these options

LazySloth718

Not Devs, Publishers.

Most of em treat us like schit and deserve it.

I buy stuff when it's worth buying and control my consumer dollar better.

Or would you rather be forced to buy from Origin to play BF3?

See right there, they split the community and weakened Steam.

They sodomize you and spit on your mom, and you're worried about them going broke.

The endemic problem of our community.

Your opinions and posts are all over the place.

You constantly change your mindset.

You love gaming yet you don't care if you tear it apart with renting and trading.

Why even call yourself a gamer because you seem to have no allegience to either side.

And just so you know yes I did buy BF3 on Origing, so what? I still buy games on steam

Renting, the solution to all the problems in gaming today.

LazySloth718 constantly whines about how bad a state gaming is in today, yet he rents all his games so developers don't get to see any of his money. Why should they listen to him ?

For that matter, why should anyone listen to him ?

they shouldn't

So true, first he whines about steam, then he whines about BF3 not using steam. He can (and does) make a problem out of everything and always find a valid reason (in his mind) to not give any money to developers and buy it used/rent.

He bashes PC here and then goes to PC threads and praises it too. Hence why I said he has no allegience. He says PC gaming is dying cos of Piracy but renting and trading and buying second hand is just as bad, it's just not frowned upon as much. But he Just flips and flops and tries to say whatever sounds original or whatever will piss people off.

There's good and bad sides to all platforms (radical view in system wars, I know.)

The gaming industry right now is super-saturated, packed in like sardines, a few titles sell millions while everything else tanks.

If renting tore the industry apart, they wouldn't sell rental licenses.

DRM is bad and you shouldn't support it.

On PC right now almost everything is a DRM login.

The way I see people like you is basically like people who buy CoD every year. Another brick in the wall. Another hinderance.

You're free to do so, but don't expect to support that sort of thing on the forums without opposition.

You traded your consumer rights and ownership rights for graphics.

PC isn't dying cos of piracy.

Renting and trading isn't bad.

Name me any product that doesn't have a secondary market.

The gaming industry is hurting because only a few companies are making megabucks and everybody else is barely keeping the electric on at the office.

For example you have Gears and Halo and CoD which sold a bazillion copies, and you have Alan Wake which sold 1.4 mil, and Resistance 3 which sold even less.

On PC you have WoW with 14 million people, and you have Darkspace with 70 people logged in at prime time.

THAT is what's killing the gaming industry.

Not me making a legitimate purchase from someone else.

What do you think makes Steam so successful.

Is because for the first time someone found a way to have a proper distribution channel.

Before that we had 80,000 games each on its own website trying to sell a copy.

Nobody wanted to login to each of them and buy a game.

People praise Steam because it doesn't /act/ like a DRM.

It acts like a store or distribution channel.

We have people who don't know their ass from their elbow advising others about what platform to get games on.

The game is a little demanding. On my older PC with a GTX 275 I am able to max it out with 4xAA at 1680x1050 but there are areas that drop the fps to 33. On average it is around 40fps though. On my other older build with an 8800gt I can just about max it (have to lower a few things) but I use a 1440x900 monitor on that build and I use SMAA instead of the AA in the game. My GTX 570 can easily handle it at 1920x1080 and 8xAA maxed though.

No wonder PC gaming is dying, you got these numbskulls as your customers.

Prolly work at 7-11 and think Steam is the best thing since sliced bread.

rich coming from you. You can't even see why renting and trading games is bad. You just fail to acknowledge it because it benefits you

You don't own anything... infact, the new Microsoft Xbox wants to implement the "no re-used game" thing.
